Quoted for awareness. Seriously, y’all gotta check out @Shadowmage‘s stuff. He’s doing things with textures and shaders I only vaguely understand and can’t use at the moment, but damn it looks cool. And if I am correct, his shader work will eventually be released for other mods to take advantage of.

Great unholy flarp! A thousand sailors cursing for a thousand years could not craft the expletive that monstrosity demands. (Ancient Lost City coming Soon™).

@Galileo and maybe @JadeOfMaar: Having a bit of an issue, here, unrelated to anything relevant here. I'm trying to adjust the height of Rald's cloud layer, using that config that Galileo made me up a while back (thanx!). Anyways, there should only be one cloud layer, but I think I'm getting two. Is there any way I can poke thru a log, or maybe the MM cache, to see if there's another config that's somehow adding another cloud layer?

Ugh, maybe someone can help me out here. I'm trying to turn the holo-visor "eyepatch" into a pirate eye patch. Simple, right? Nope. Just changing the textures to all black doesn't work, turning off the alpha channel in the .tga doesn't work, and I can't even begin to figure out the .dds. Could anyone offer me some insight, please?

No, really. A ring of air brakes should be more than enough to get you subsonic, then you can use regular chutes to slow enough for landing. Also, I see that you’re using FMRS. If you look on the map, there’s a spit of land sticking up across the ocean due east of KSC. If you can tweak your flight profile enough, it’s a great booster landing spot, landing gear would save more weight and might be more forgiving than a water landing. Or, you could go full SpaceX there. MechJeb’s landing AP should be able to hit it if you can spare a bit of fuel. Come to think of it, with that spare that bit of fuel just use MechJeb to cancel the last of your speed landing on water.

Search for SpaceX landings on YouTube, you’ll find plenty of old and new stuff there. A few good compilations, too. Preach. -

They’ve been learning. The lessons from these first reuses are being incorporated into the new Block 5 boosters set to start flying next year. Those should be able to go 10 launches with zero refurb, and “many” more with refurb. Potato-ninja strikes again. For which flight? As far as I know, we’re still waiting on the HD release of the landing footage from the last two launches. -
How'd you get them to all scowl in unison like that tho?

Given the current state of the world, the Kerm, and the track record on Awakening Kerm, this has some potentially pretty terrifying connotations.- 1,789 replies

Here’s a legit question: could we please get a facepalm and/or “bang head against wall” smiley? -

Unless the gummint paid for it and McDonnell D did the modifications under contract. -
Details plz?

In all seriousness, if their landing profile is anything like SpaceX’s, it’s designed to miss the barge if the engines don’t light, part of the landing burn is the final adjustment to the target.

So... BO is basically making software so a ballistic missile can hit a moving target from the edge of space, hmmm...

Wow, great article. The NASASpaceflight one, not the twit going on about the “International Space Center” in orbit. Anyways... I know what I’ma be thankful for this Turkey Day. Also: That is gonna look sooo cool! As long as it doesn’t explode. Also: I really flarping hate this flarping mobile editor. -
*cough*SLS*coughcough* But seriously, yes prototypes are still quite common. I see the prototype 787 around Boeing all the time. The first Electron was a prototype, the first (arguably several) Falcon 1 was a prototype, the first (and still only) New Shepherd. I would think that if it’s the first of its design and is never meant to carry payload or other commercial activity, it’s a prototype.
