  1. I gave up consoles to play KSP. Really. I was a big Xbox 360 fan and loved it but KSP got me back into PC's. I've been able to skip this generation of consoles with no regrets. But if KSP on consoles gets younger people into science maybe it would be worth it. I'll be waiting for KSP 2 or whatever is coming..
  2. Steam says 1226 hours. However, some of that, not all, but some is keeping MapSat running all night orbiting and mapping a planet every time a new patch came out. I'm looking at you Moho...
  3. That is a fine piece of engineering and execution. Well done..
  4. I like lots of biomes if I'm going to land. Seems any soil sample should have value. EVA in orbit, not so much. For my first landing I try to be close enough to 2 biomes so I can get 2 samples by jet packing (or on Minmus just landing nearby) But some of them are challenging to get to canyon included. The poles are rewarding to me. So I like having those but I also like having specific craters their own biome. Maybe we don't have to "collect 'em all" but you could with a science station, a base, rovers, etc, instead of another one shot mission. Personally I can't wait for more biomes, so I don't get stuck at Mun/Minmus so long because I know Duna doesn't have as much.
  5. I too used a couple to see what would happen if mounted on top of a couple SRB's. On separation, it was quite spectacular to see the spent solids race ahead of the rest of the rocket. Haven't incorporated the into a better working design though.
  6. Agreed. Line of site is important but unless you have OCD tendencies and are good at orbital mechanics, you don't have to put your comm network in precise orbits. Just put up more! And if you can't get your first Comsat in orbit, you can always have a Kerbal put a few up. IMHO, Deadly Reentry isn't that hard either, you just need to pay attention to how you re enter. And accept that for the most part only things with heatshields will survive.
  7. Absolutely, it was really fun to watch and listen in on the inner workings of this game we all love. Most all of the mathematics was beyond my studies (or recollection) but who knew I might actually learn or be inspired to learn from a video game with green snack eating beings?
  8. Go to your tech tree and find the parts. They are in the middle somewhere. Click on the individual parts to make them available in the VAB. I think it's part of the future money or more research so you may have to "buy" or research each individual part.
  9. Is there a way to adjust the "sea level". My wife likes a pink Mun, but I'd like to tone it down a bit.
  10. Trying out the newest mapping mod in town.. Thanks to damny for putting the work in. Check out his thread here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/55832-PLUGIN-PARTS-WIP-SCANsat-terrain-mapping Biomes too. Here's a partial Mun
  11. At last, my map of Moho is complete. Now to build something that could actually explore it.... My other maps... http://imgur.com/a/6dyHc
  12. Ok, thanks. That might do it for now. I'll have to check it out
  13. Yes. That's kind of what I'd like to see eventually. A comprehensive science report in the research center. But in the meantime, I'm just wondering if anyone has found that list, if it exists.
  14. I like the post mission summary with the total science gained. Is there any way to look at this information while in the space center to see your "achievements"? Or is it saved anywhere at a text file at this point? I haven't poked around in the files yet and I'm not sure if this has already been discussed. It just would be cool to know what has been researched out to the max to plan another mission. And to go way out on the wish list, how cool would it be to look at Bill & Bob's science results?
