According to wiki, it has an RTG with 4.8 kg of Pu onboard.
    Probably, with no protection.

What is the safe distance of it, or how long can stay a human close to it before they have to replace him with the next one?

I.e. is the thing on the photo an equivalent of Chernobyl tractor?

The Pu 238 decay chain has alpha and beta decays down to lead 206. Alpha and beta particles are easily shielded. On the surface of Mars, I would worry much more about radiation exposure due to cosmic rays, given the very thin atmosphere. To reduce my radiation exposure, I would sleep underneath the RTGs of the rover.

  2. It was weird yesterday when my News app popped up a story about a Falcon 9 landing failure. Whaaaat?? Oh...it was an article from 2016. Weird. But it was interesting  to see how the article was going on about all the problems SpaceX was having landing the Falcon 9 booster, and how they might not get it to work reliably. Haha.

Wow. Perfect coverage of the landing! It's funny how the barge lost signal, while landing rocket did not :)

They should rename it Of Course I Still Lose Your Signal.

  3. Is the FAA going to allow SpaceX to try reentering prototype Starships over land?  Can SpaceX satisfy the FAA that they won't be spreading debris (including some heavy pieces like Raptor engines an header tanks) across Texas? Or that they can reliably predict where the untested ship will even come down if it stays in one piece?  Will they make them put the first one down out in Kwajalein atoll or some other spot in the big open ocean?  Does SpaceX have a recovery ship capable of handling a Starship landing? I presume the converted oil rigs aren't far enough out to prevent spreading debris over Texas if the Starship fails early in reentry, yes?

  4. The video was frozen during the engine re-light. They could have lit three, and already turned one off by the time the video unfroze. Same with landing... did they land on two engines, or did the turn one off right near the end. I can't tell because the video is frozen there.

$99 to get in line, refundable.

Was put on hold with stupid centurylink. Every time there is construction around here they screw up the lines. I think someone left one of their boxes open down the hill and it got wet. We don't have cable here, either.

I have also now sent them $99. We’ll see how it goes. I’m fine with helping pay for rocket development...and getting speedy Internet. But it wouldn’t become my only Internet connection until it gets full coverage.
