Berger certainly deserves a spot on SpaceXs payroll if you ask me. -
Wonder if comet ejecta will pose any risk.

Sierra Nevada Thread (Dream Chaser, plus!)
Canopus replied to tater's topic in Science & Spaceflight
i know it will be deorbited, the question was more if it has its own propulsion, so that it could be used without the actual dreamchaser in a capacity similar to the progress tug used for Pirs and Poisk. Also just noticed the name Shooting Star is kinda nice for the part burning up on reentry. -
I‘m talking about the Launch Vehicle of course since it has an euro-version.
-
Well Soyuz parts are already in Making History. But yeah with Vega C/E atleast sharing the same first stage as Ariane 6 boosters i could see those fit the modularity of KSP. Then again there are quite a few solid rocket motors already.

Is this shooting star Vehicle a complete Service module that could be used as a tug for other modules or more like the Dragon trunk? -
I hope we get some medium Rosetta sized solar panels to fill the gap between the Gigantor and the 1x6 panels.

The meatgrinder is a world with an already largely unhealthy population, terrible health system too expensive for many leading them to only go to the doctor when its already really bad for them, and then filling up all the icu‘s. So yeah ofcourse you can‘t all stay inside till theres a vaccine, but you just can‘t return everything to normal. People need to keep distance. Disgusting sentiment. why treat sick people at all then, they‘ll just die someday anyway.
-
@tater Very convenient data you choose then. Its already pretty bad in the U.S. and its only going to get worse. Especially if you send all the people into the meatgrinder now

I have a feeling covid-19 sets the moon landing back.

Thats what i‘m saying, the starship in this scenario is not an alternative to SLS. -
Its funny you bring up Germany, my home country, as an example of low deaths when we had and still have very strict regulations on public and worklife. It‘s also not about choosing to put yourself at risk, but protecting others.

@Wjolcz falcon heavy was supposed to fly in 2013. So its not impossible just way optimistic to have Starship flying soon. And i know, the next thing someone will say is that FH changed significantly, well so does Starship constantly. -
Are people on the KSP forum of all places really making the point that „People are dying all the Time“? Im kinda disappointed.

SpaceX wants to win the Contract so they are doing LOR simple as that. Its not about what that thing could hypothetically do. Still its not going to happen anyway. EOR would also eliminate the ability to abort the mission on the way to the moon. -

The thing they proposed to NASA uses the SLS though. Its just a freakishly looking lander and doesn‘t transport astronauts from earth to the moon. -
Certainly a very unorthodox design!
-
I think Cislunar 1000 was never a concrete plan more like a suggestion of what an in space refuelable infrastructure would be capable of. In that sense i think both Artemis and this lander could be part of it, but so could the BO lander if its still Hydrolox powered.

Imagine a lander looking like a DC-8 gently touching down on the moon -

so the dynatics lander is two stage? Anyone have a guess as to its flight profile? Is the other stage a crasher? -

it just looks like its about to topple over any second. Also the fact that the egress is so high above ground.
