[SOLVED] KSP freezes up for a minute when approaching another vessel
JonoRig replied to CoriW's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Don't forget that the more parts you add on screen, the worse it gets, so while it may be mod textures if its only two relatively "small" craft in terms of part count, if its a station, the lag and freezing during unpack will get much worse... -
Little thought about hiring modders in the dev team
JonoRig replied to Netris's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Also, in a lot of interviews I've seen, some of the best game developers always said, there's not really a worthwhile degree in game design, sure theres stuff that shows you HOW to do things, but they don't teach you creativity and the such; and that in "their" days, the best way to audition for a job is to just keep releasing top quality modders.... I see this as nothing less then encouraging, sure we now lose a great modder, but we've gained a fantastic developer, and like someone said, there WILL be someone else who steps up and fills that Gap, which means we won't just gave an updated version of our favourite mods (which is unfortunate) but we may gain entire new, creative and exciting user expansions and mod plugins... -
I also get the feeling theyre a bit loathe to release estimates on their work, after recent issues... some people are getting fed up with things, or expecting other things, and unfortunately, it seems theyre the ones who can be loudest when it suits them (just look at the Expansion war that happened after a tiny comment made on a dev stream for an example :/)

HOCgaming's THAT'S NO MOON! Base - Craft Submission Thread
JonoRig replied to HOC's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
From Hellfire Laboratories; we are pleased to announce our first ever published Space Craft for public purchase. This simple, even basic design should fulfil any required roles as a Waypoint in Low Munar orbit. Introducing the first Low Mun Orbit Bus Shelter (working title…) complete with a one Kerbal mini bus, able to take Kerbals far from the orbit; and if you purchase the Blueprints now; the full sized Mun Bus will come absolutely free! Give us some Details! I hear you cry! Well, the Bus shelter itself comes with one Hitchhiker’s module, for all your Kerbals to relax and have a cup of tea while they wait for their rides to dock; complete with 3 protruding support struts with ladders to grab hold on approach from the surface cannon; 16 RTG’s and various science equipment, this small module more than surfaces to occupy your Kerbals as they take a break between commutes. And for all you space craft needs, this shelter comes complete with 2 large docking ports, and 3, yes 3! Jr. docking ports. This Station weighs in at only 5.4 t, and includes only 76 parts; which, if you like that minimalist approach, can be severely decreased by dropping the science equipment and some of the power sources. (However, a mini-bus is attached, bringing the weight up to 8.6t and 87 parts) The Mini-bus, is a simple and elegant design, powered by an efficient engine, attached to a small amount of fuel and RCS, a good pilot will be able to make these Resources go far! It has a Docking port Jr. on its nose to dock with the Bus Shelter. This little gem has a mass of 3.23, and includes only 11 parts; but don’t be fooled by its size, it has a lot of “bang†for its “buck†And finally, the full sized Mun-Bus, able to take 3 Kerbals far from the station, it has the next size up in everything that the mini bus has, and completely optional, with one large docking port on its nose! Finally, this was originally designed to be attached to the shelter during launch, but Hellfire’s testing dept. found a way to downsize the rocket; nice one you brainiac Kerbals at Hellfire Laboratories’ Testing Divisions. This original design has a mass of 17.47t, and a part count of 21. For any users out there; action groups are as follows: 1 – activates all the ladders and equipment on the Shelter; 2 – Activates solar panels on the buses. It’s so simple even your tiger could do it. (Hellfire laboratories will take no responsibility for Kerbals attempting to get tigers, or any other creatures, including Jebediah; crashing the buses, or otherwise inconveniencing your space programmes) http://imgur.com/gallery/mLLqE Image Gallery http://db.tt/9cS7nbZj Craft Files PS: this is the first craft I’ve felt comfortable submitting, its not much, but I like it, so while I don’t expect to get picked, as it doesn’t stand out, I would love some feedback; I just got carried away with the sales pitch, was kinda fun Cheers guys -
It was a good thought though. i certainly didnt even think about it till you brought it up, and i only know u can move planets cause i watched a vid yday of danny2462 blowing up gilly while it was orbiting kerbin
-
could that not in theory be fixed with hyperedit, as you can move planets about (ive not used it, so i dont know to what extent it can be abused)
-
I believe there is a mod called hackjeb, which can be used to change gravity and the such, but nothing that can change the actual scale, i believe thats locked up in the game code and too difficult to change even if it were allowed currently
-
Fair enough reason, but i am obviously very limited in my thoughts, because the Demo blew my mind in terms of size; then i got the game and theres a whole solar system of massive (or small to you) planets. I think theyre the perfect size, not too much to overwhelm players, but more then enough to occupy us...
-
Who doesnt enjoy well deployed sarcasm?
-
Ok, so your asking why wouldnt you have 1:!; lets look at it from this direction, what would making the game 1:1 scale accomplish; because either it will take a massive amount of time to do stuff (as has been suggested) or the kerbals are then made 1:1 with humans, so my question is, what would it actually bring to the game? how does it improve it, or make it more fun?
-
And what makes me say obsessed is because after multiplayer, this is one of the most suggested things lately...
-
I watch Scott Manley, like quite a large percentage of these forums probably do; Harv/Hoc Gaming; Danny 2462; Macey Dean and EnterElysiam. I also have a few others subbed on my YouTube, but they're the main ones I look out for Suestragaming HD; streetlamp pro and pleborian are another 3

Mechjeb: why limit to 40m/s acceleration?
JonoRig replied to Spektyr's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
Unless I'm remembering incorrectly. I believe where it says limit to 40, it is a text box so u can adjust it -
Why is everyone obsessed with making it all 1:1?
-
looks like they havent played ENOUGH KSP before making this movie... i still see parts of their ships, and theyre "kerbals" arent grinning manically or blaming Jeb
-
to be fair though, who doesn't?
-
Forget making kerbin earth sized; today i saw someone demand that the Sol system be one of the "many" solar systems we can visit "when" KSP has FTL (me no likey that idea myself) Also just saw "change all units in kerbal to realistic units", "change the banner image as it made me think it was a fling the something game" and "let us make automated action groups"
-
Well the devs have said they're not ever going to be in the game, so as long as they stay as mods, I'm perfectly happy with them, I uninstalled mine cause I couldn't hit a barn door at point blank, even with the lazor by romfarer, kept the lazor systems tho, just deleted the missiles and stuff
-
Haha, I never watched the latest series. But it was the only thing I could think of at the time. And was more appropriate then terminator, the original cylons, they were badass
-
As for no enemies cause they're all kerbals in the same space programme... What happens if the probe bodies rise up like cylons?
-
I liked the point someone made that if that was true, When we were on version 0.4, then it would mean it was 40% complete
-
From what ive seen from him about, he seemed great and its a real loss, I wish we could find out why, but its none of our business, anyway, hope him all the best. And that he still enjoys the game as much as we do, and that he stays in contact around with those that he befriended (after all, stepping down as CM doesn't immediatly mean he can't still be part of the community)

As I'm at work, I've saved this to bookmarks, should be awesome when I get home
