So, someone on reddit is apparently asking for Squad to release all internal work hour and salary records. Of course, also getting upvoted. What is wrong with those people... Feels like planetary annihilation steam forums, thinking about it. Whatever, probably best just ignore it. Stupid people have short attention spans.
-
Nah, reddit will move on in a few days when they're bored and the next drama happens.
-
Not really my thing, but of course, that site is still huge. Just not as much as reddit.
-
Someone once said, 4chan is where smart people go to pretend to be stupid; reddit is the place where stupid people go to pretend to be smart.
-
Careful, reddit likes to exommunicate people for doing that :^) Well, the answer deserves to be just as high as the accusation, so why not.
-
Maybe he's a pro and you just never found out.
-
@NathanKell So were you drunk writing that post? :^)
-
Not really. It's years since that guy left, probably on bad terms. Don't think he knows what happened recently.
-
Well, the original post says 'decided to part ways from Squad', but I might be reading to much into it. It wouldn't be the most surprising thing if they just got rid of external contractors after having the game finished and polished (which is basically 1.2), before they go into the next, winding down support phase.
-
Yup, and I've said before: While the game was feature complete before, 1.2 just feels incredibly polished in comparision to any other KSP version. Even makes sense to slow down development by stopping the external contracting first. I'm still sad we might never get porkies masterpieces :'(
-
I don't understand if you agree or disagree with me xD Although, to be fair, I only know that I don't know very much. Which is kinda frustrating when it's about something you care about, be it a 'comercial product' or not (although I'm sure the devs see alot more in KSP than that).
-
Or it is some random guy trying to repurposed bovine waste others on reddit. We don't know, and I've started to very much go with my first instinctive reaction: Doubt everything that isn't proven or coherent.
-
Doesn't even make sense as a rumor, Roverdude stated quite clearly thats his own IP and hes is not gonna make anyone pay for it. Makes the source, even if its not a full lie, less believable. This is nonsense as well: They pinned a very visible thread linking to the declaration. I find it a bit disappointing that there is no news covering so many talented people departing, but there is no indication of any censorship. And people surely would see it; as well as document it on reddit. Heck, I myself might a thread asking about what happens to porkies revamp, and it's still there. Not seen anything done to point this out.
-
This still leaves the question open: Why was Porkie leaving when he was doing the overhault? :/ That just sticks out (and not at least since his stuff looked amazing, even in current KSP). He also said he is getting paid a lot better compared to the older claims.
-
I'd agree, but there are factual claims: He says Roverdudes Colonization mod is going to be sold as an expansion, so Bob would know about it. And that one does sound a bit far fetched.
-
Yeah, I'd rather trust him then. Always felt like warmed up claims, but the soft confirmation of the reddit mods made me wonder. Not that those mods are really professionals when it comes to personal identification.
-
EDOT - Roverdude denied all of this, but couldn't say more because of NDA. I would generally rather take his word than some very soft confirmation from a mod. https://www.reddit.com/r/KerbalSpaceProgram/comments/55zzmg/information_about_recent_events_at_squad/d8fa6sw ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Btw, this landed on reddit, from someone claiming to have inside information. Reddit mods said they are 'almost sure' he is correct (obviously that info cant be made public), so take it with a grain of salt: https://www.reddit.com/r/KerbalSpaceProgram/comments/55zzmg/information_about_recent_events_at_squad/ It would definitly explain why they all 'decided to leave' at once, despite the development supposedly being continued for a while. If that's true, then to whoever was responsible for the business-side managing the personal: You screwed it up. This is going to seriously hurt whatever KSP is supposed to be in the future going forward. It's impossible to just replace that talent, no matter how low you might think of those people.

What's going to happen to the Rocket Part Revamp?
Temeter replied to Temeter's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Well, I'd absolutely assume Squad owns the models. Porkjet worked as a contractor. The thing is, the overhaul wasn't done, the devnote annoucing their release said quite clearly it still had a long way to go. -
EDIT, small update: Nestor did comment comment on what's up with Porkjet: Porkie already left a few weeks ago because he went to a new job. ---------------------------- Fairly straightforward: Porkjet, who was doing the revamp, either decided to leave or was let go by Squad. So what's going to happen to the part revamp now? It would be quite disappointing to see it get dropped after so much teasing. And, of course, considering the current models are quite outdated and not at all on the level of more recent assets. Including the PBR shader thing; it would be nice if at least mods could use some actually good light effects, not just the antique shaders of current KSP. And if continued, can the level of quality and style stay intact without him?

Paid expansions and previous statements RE paid expansions
Temeter replied to dlrk's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Interestingly enough, originally Squad devs said small expansions are going to be free to pre-steam adopters, yet large addons wouldn't be free. -
They were very much temporary hires faik, external contractors. It wouldn't be something special if Squad just decides to let them go and rather go with full time in-house devs.
-
Btw, what does this mean: That's a weird way to formulate this news. First impression is that Squad wants to slow down external development, which would be their decision, yet this sounds like the devs left out of their own will. Which really makes no sense if all go together.

Washington post is often writing this kind of klickbaiting nonsense in their online variant. Apparently their only clue is that a SpaceX employee has asked for access to the ULA roof. Or maybe hasn't. Currently everyone is jumping on the train, tho. Countless articles reciting the little stuff you found in the WP article.
-
Btw, does anyone else feel the Raptor is going a great length towards retroactively proving KSP right? Throttable to 20%, infinite restarts via spark system, self-pressurising tanks via heat exchanger... Those are gonna be fun when someone makes a raptor mod for RO.
-
Yup, those work fine, but they also aren't really a gamechanger or so. You activate them, timewarp to online. Or just set them to 1% to get costant low energy support. Still interesting element considering how powerfull the equipment with NFT is, but I don't think there is that much point to put it into the main game.
