  1. I brought some stuff to Minmu and set it up. At first I had problems with stuff blowing up. So much so that I had to send another ship with replacements. Then I notice I was trying to use a scientist to place and move stuff around. When I switched to an Engineer I didn't have any stuff blow up. The only thing I noticed was the doubling up of pipes and pipes switching were they are plugged into.
  2. Not really looking for help. I just wanted to give some feedback. I'm a developer and use to do mods for Orbitersim and I know how hard it is to get any feedback good or bad. When the Kerbals get stuck there is not portrait to click, but the hatch for the module shows the kerbal inside. I tried placing the slab and not attaching it. Most of the time it blows up when the kerbal walks away, but not always. I built the base on Kerbin proper about 200 meters past the KSC launch pad object edge on the side towards the water. I could load a picture if it would provide any info. What logs are you looking for. Next time something blows up I'll try to post them. I consider what I've run across so far as pretty minor. I start a base on the Mun and see if I get any of the same issues. Maybe I'm just to close to the KSC.
  3. I recently came across this mod and decided to give it a go. I'm only working with a base off to the side of KSC for testing purposes. Newest release being used. KSP 1.05 This is what I have found out so far. This is mostly randomly happening. Ponderosa Inflatable Module Traps Kerbels in it. Unable to EVA. Gas Light Blows up when being placed, when a Kerbal gets close, and when trying to attach a pipe to it. I guess the last may be the same as the second one. Sinks into the ground and then blows up when right clicking. Saddle Muncrete Slab Blows up when being placed and when attaching a pipe. This may be the same as the gas light and blows up when a Kerbal gets close. That's about it for random stuff. When I reloaded the saved game I had a pipe that was attached to a Saddle Muncrete Slab doubled up. It kind of looked like it was attached to both pipe connections on the slab. This slab already had two connections to it because I was using it in the middle of a long pipe run. All the lights in the domes go off at high warp speeds. I don't know about the Gas lights because they all blew up on me. At this point I have only played around with the modules. I also had a funky thing happen. I had left one of the expanding tubes on the ground and when I reloaded the game and switched to the base it launched itself into Kerbin and then into the air maybe 5 or 6 hundred meters. Then it fell back and blew up when it hit the ground. It's a minor thing I just have to remember. Really nice job on this mod. I now have visions of building a city on Minmus or the Mun. Mun Base Alpha here I come. :)
  4. I'm always interested in meditation/relaxation music. It's very good, but a little too bright for my relaxation tastes. That said, I could most likely get into it as an afternoon relaxation piece. One that may energize me rather than relaxing me to possible sleep.
  5. Not really a novel. More of a tech paper I would think.
  6. The old,(literally), beautiful, naked, red skinned, egg laying woman of Mars, oops, Barsoom. What more can a man want? The interesting thing about the Barsoom series is that it was consider a fantasy romance novel for its day. The other interesting thing is that Dejah Thoris really doesn't have a very large part in it although she is the driving force for John Carter. I'm not so sure about the accurate science. I guess that the depiction of the planet needing atmosphere plants and that it was desert like, except for the moss in place of sand. Otherwise the whole thing about radium arms, light wave tech based on colors including lifting rays wasn't really very accurate. The Disney movie was a big miss as far as the books go, but it was entertaining to a degree. - - - Updated - - - I don't remember the Tripods being from Mars.
  7. I read the book and it was pretty good. I didn't vote because I have not seen the movie so I have no opinion on the actor chosen or how the book translates to the movie. I will have a better idea after I see the movie, but I will not be going to the theater to see it. I will wait for it on DVD or one of the pay services like HBO or Netflix.
  8. I'm and old guy, use to be a pilot, I have had about every flightsim there has been, and on a number of different computers. I even had one for the old TRS-80 and an Ultralight sim for the Color Computer. I currently have X-Plane installed, but I only fly GA aircraft and the Piper Cub is one I fly a lot.
  9. I've gone about 3 feet, that would be about a meter for you backwards folks that use the metric system. I've gone out to Jool and her moons. I have never gone in system to Eve. I don't know why. I've just never done so. I like to go to Minmus for some reason. I send all sorts of craft to Minmus. It's kind of the go to place for my Kerbals. I think it's the color.
  10. I sold a number of Kerbals into slavery to make a quick buck. I know it was wrong to do, but they were a bunch of losers that were annoying me at the time. I've also killed quite a few of them because I didn't want to fork out the cash for a probe body. At least I planted a flag on the Mun next to the a Kerbal that I abandoned to starve to death. There are just no snacks to be found on the Mun.
  11. With every release I pretty much start over so the possibility of my saved craft working is never a consideration. I guess if I had extensive mining or station stuff going on I would like that carry it over, but I don't at this time so I'll just start over. I prefer Sandbox, but when the science first came out I played it through. I have yet to play contracts so maybe I'll try them out.
  12. None. I find pleasure in the design and launching of my own creations. I've never used or loaded any of the stock craft nor have I ever used a craft from someone else. Being able to design and build your own ships is what makes KSP so much better than Orbitersim. Of course I designed and built many of my favorite scifi ships from TV and movies for Orbitersim, but I found KSP much less time intensive to design a ship and just a heck of a lot more fun to play.
  13. My doctorate degree is in philosophy with a bent towards Meta Physics and because of that I feel obligated to post in this thread.
  14. I've been in a house fire. It's a real panic once you find out what is going on. It was an apartment building and one of the tenets was a drug dealer. Someone tried to kill him by setting the basement under his apartment on fire. A couple of years ago the woods in back of my house caught fire. Woke up at about 2am with smoke filling the house. I was really nervous that the trees closer to my house would catch fire. Other than that it was pretty spectacular seeing 60 to 70 foot pines on fire. Flames must have been at least a 100 feet tall.
  15. I use 1920x1800 and 1600x900 on two different computers. Yes I bought two games. One for each computer.
  16. Been playing since version .18 and just have fun building the rockets in sandbox mode and have yet to mess with space planes. Former pilot, doctorate in philosophy, currently unemployed, but have mostly worked the IT field. Won an award for an eCommerce system I designed and developed why back in the dark ages of the Internet. I started messing with Orbiter when it fist came out and ended up doing quite a few SciFi based add-ons. I did all the Rag Tag Fleet stuff including the Star Gates and Firefly. Then I saw KSP and dumped Orbiter for what I felt was a lot more fun.
  17. Why not use a docking port attached to a decoupler on the part you want to attach to the docking port?
  18. Wearing both a dress and a tutu would look really silly unless it was a really small tutu around the neck, see old paintings with men wearing neck frills. Then again, those look pretty silly too. I play sandbox and unless I leave Jeb, Bill or Bob in space I have never flown a female so I have no idea what is or is not in their mouth. Perhaps I will choose Val on the next flight just to check her out.
  19. I have never built any kind of plane, but I have found that the new atmo is making it like starting from scratch with my rockets. I have not had a single one of my old designs work well or in a lot of cases work at all.
  20. I played the science career when it was first released, but for me it is all about the sandbox mode. I use to run the Rag Tag Fleet for Orbitersim just because I liked creating ships and sandbox allows me to create without all the model building and programming I had to do with the fleet. I do miss some of the stuff I did in Orbiter like the BSG ships and my all time favorite the Firefly, but I never really "flew" the ships like I can in KSP.
  21. I had one of those years ago. I didn't know they still made them. - - - Updated - - - Beleive it or not, I lost one of those. Never did find out where it went. I think I let my brother or dad borrow it and they ended up throwing it out. I used a Saitek X52 now but not for KSP.
  22. Been playing since just before 0.18 and the other day I decided that just for fun I'd build a rocket and lander for Minmus. I can generally get there with me eyes closed, but not then. It took three attempts and to add insult to injury my lander ran out of fuel and poor Jeb had to abandon ship and find the return ship using only his MMU. To add to the bruising I bounced him off of the return ship three or four times before slowing him enough to enter. Maybe I shouldn't have sucked down the rum before and during the flight, but what fun would that be?
  23. I've had one sitting in front of the astronaut training complex since they first released the astro update. Maybe you hit to hard or it's a glitch with the newest version.
