Drop tanks on a spaceplane?

I don't always use drop tanks but when I do I usually add a launcher to get the plane off the runway to avoid having to do crazy landing gear pylons. As for placement of the tanks I typically put the on the center of mass and have them drain first the there is no balance changes. Finally, yes kerbals will survive in external seats, and even on ladders,during reentry -

first, if you right click on the wheels you can repair them and keep driving with your wonderfully designed vehicle. Second, if you add another pod after the original one(or a hitch-hiker storage unit they will be empty of all kerbals

it may have well been one of those times when the thing your doing lines up perfectly with another noise and it freaks you out making you think you are being watches, yep those things... -

From what i understand you are burning when you egt to your apoapsis then since your engine are not too powerful your burn ends at your periapsis hence an "egg" orbit There is a way to prevent this, 1) use more powerful engines, skippers are good for this. 2) set up a manuver node at your apoapsis and put half your burn on the raising side on the other half on the falling side. -
you may want to weigh some other kerbals because who knows what jeb has in his pockets(most likely solidfuel and/or explosives)

I sooo want that, it looks hilarious, exept for the chance that you might do a re-entry in a spacesuit.
