That's charming. Difficult, though. I keep getting ambushed by huge ships that kill me in 1-2 volleys because i stopped to absorb more parts.

[0.20] ModuleManager 1.3 - for all your stock-modding needs
loppnessmonsta replied to ialdabaoth's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
"im not getting paid enough for that" seems like a perfectly valid response to me. unfortunately, that kinds limits the usefulness of this from the user end. if i need to list each part i want to change, i'm not saving much, if any, time/effort over just going to each part and doing the change myself. Still incredibly useful from the modder end, though. -
[WIP] THSS - Tri-Hexagonal Structural Strut

If you're talking about what I think, I noticed that too. Some of the parts only have one, or none, fuel line running down the side. Looks kinda weird when you slap them next to one that has them all. Still diggin this mod, though. -

Expanding on this, can this find strings/commands/whatever other than PART{}? So, for example, could I tell it to look for every instance of MODULE { Name = ModuleEngines } and, when it finds that, to add Throttlesteering to that part? It would need to be outside that particular string, but that would simplify things on the user end. That way it could look for all engines, give them throttlesteering. Look for all command pods, give them MechJeb, etc, with only one search command. Edit: Actually, as I'm re-reading the instructions, it sounds like it can do this, using the @NODE commands. That's awesome. Now if only my KSP would load. Edit2: Oops, looks like KSP doesn't like blank cfg files. -
As I mentioned in the other thread, I've been having fun playing with your engines and their cfgs. I finally came up with something I thought could be useful, but not overlap. From what I understand about fusion technology as it stands right now, it's not terribly accurate either, but that wasn't really the point. Using the cfg from Hikari's Sabre engine, I learned how to make it consume fuel while not on! So I made a set of "fusion" engines that constantly consume fuel (at a vastly reduced rate) to produce large amounts of electricity. Since I don't know how to make a right-click menu that will toggle the fuel consumption off/on I bumped up their vacuum-ISP and Thrust values (by a factor of 10, for now- no idea how OP that's going to end up being). Once I figure that out, I'll tone them back. But I think I've got a decent concept, so I thought I'd share. Maybe even something you could include in your official pack! I also like your tanks. Looking forward to more of your work!

This is fascinating. I'll see if I can set up a file structure that takes advantage of what Taverius is describing as well as condensing your cfgs (as you described). Be good practice. Also, glad to hear B9 3.0 is a thing now. I'm eager for the release! I'm also looking forward to a new KW release. I particularly enjoy the fairings; so much cleaner looking.

You could also just have one cfg! Each PART{} is loaded individually. For example, Talisar's Spherical pack (which right now is just tanks) uses one cfg for two parts each- a full and empty version of each tank. I've been playing with his cfgs, and now that I mention it, I might just condense the whole pack into one cfg. Because I can! I think. I might be wrong. I don't actually know enough about modding to be sure, I just play with cfgs for myself.

Awesome! I love covers of game music, and KSP has some pretty sweet tunes.

This was improved with G&K. They're still not very smart, but you get a much better breakdown of whether or not they like you, why, and, if you spy on them, what they're planning. Did you try setting it to Quick game instead of Marathon?

China's government doesn't play nice with video game publishers. That's why EVE Online has a separate Chinese server run by another company which leases the rights or something. Anyway, I've got Civ. G&K is worth getting. Religion adds a lot more depth, with some powerful bonuses for the cities that follow it, like (my favorites) 15% population growth, and +30 healing when fortified next to a friendly city. And that's just from the first tier of bonuses! Espionage is nice, but... less than it could be. It lets you steal technology from other civilizations or influence elections in city-states for an Influence bonus. I had hoped it would be a bit more passive, particularly end-game, where, even in Quick games, spies can take hundreds of turns to successfully steal a tech (if the defender has the right buildings), but it still allows less technologically advanced civs to keep up. G&K also has some tweaks in the tech tree which make things more interesting. There's a whole WWI set of units and technologies before you get to the WW2 stuff. I, too, am excited for Brave New World. So many cool features. Once that's out, all I'd want is terrain-shaping (digging canals, melting ice caps, re-routing rivers, etc) and I'd be completely satisfied. But it'll still be really fun. I look forward to losing track of days at a time.

that looks like more than homeworld vibes, it looks like a homeworld prequel. if it weren't for the "its a new planet" thing i'd say it WAS a prequel! that whole sequence looks eerily similar to the cutscene from homeworld 1, and a lot of the sounds and technology are familiar

Sunshine. Sun is dying, humanity sends Icarus expedition to restart it using a special bomb. It fails. Enter Icarus II. Movie happens. Was very cool. Oblivion was good. Morgan Freeman. Morgan Freeman Morgan Freeman. Serenity, of course. Nathan Filion and Jewel Staite, among other amazing actors. If you haven't seen this, DO IT NOW. But watch Firefly (ALL OF IT!) first. Space western. The Matrix. Just the first one. Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. Technically a show, but it has a few movies. Very good. I particularly enjoyed the idea of prosthetic bodies (Mine sucks). Stargate: Anything. Seriously, all the shows are good, the movies are generally just as good. Independence Day. If you're not American this might not be on TV all summer long, so you may not have seen it. Very fun action sci-fi. WALL-E. Pixar! Robots! Yay! ummmm..... you know what? Screw it. I can't think of any other movies right now, but I can think of a lot of shows! TV is way better than movies these days. In addition to the shows-with-movies above.... Farscape. Cowboy Bebop. Alphas. Falling Skies. Warehouse 13. Paranormal (Only saw the first episode, but it looked like a lot of fun. Actually fairly science-y. Like a cross between X-Files and Warehouse 13) Eureka. Any of the Trek shows. Actually, now that I think about it, basically anything SyFy has aired that isn't a "SyFy Original movie" (Red Faction: Origins seemed interesting, though) or a ghost-hunting show is pretty good. Alas, that doesn't leave much, thanks to my idiot friend and his ilk. They'd rather watch people play with puppets and night vision cameras than watch a decent story. Fools! Anyway that's all I can think of right now.

Launch a rocket. Name it after your ex. Crash it into the mun. FEEL BETTER.

So... I've been playing around with the cfgs for these (just for myself) and I decided to make xenon versions. I suck at maths, so I tried to use a ratio that other tanks seemed to use. The lowest ratio of monopropellant-xenon I could find was 12.5, which, even rounding down to the nearest thousandth (or ten-thousandth), still gives me a 350,000 capacity for the large tank and "only" 13,000 for the small tank. Is that anywhere close to right!? That sounds like way too much.

[WIP] THSS - Tri-Hexagonal Structural Strut
loppnessmonsta replied to Semni's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
I love the aesthetics of this mod. Between this, B9, and LLL, I think I'm going to be able to make some beautiful ships and stations. I noticed, though, that there doesn't appear to be an adapter to go directly between octo-strut and tri-hex struts. I may have missed it, since I only just tried this pack out last night (and havent played since) but thought that was a little odd. One of the two adapters seems like it should fill that role, but it just goes to a smaller version of the octo strut. Not sure if that's for a size you have planned or what. Also, I, too, noticed the extra kerbals. It's a simple oversight- one line in the cfg. needs to be added. I'm not sure if the position matters, but if it does, the stock parts have that line between the asset parameters and node definitions.Anyway, looking forward to playing around with this pack some more later. -
What is your favourite sci-fi/irl spacecraft, and why?

Need more Joker Kerman. -
YES. I love this game. Probably my favorite game of 2012 even though I sank relatively few hours into it. Such a charming and interesting game. I've also been playing Homeworld 2 with the Complex mod, Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion, and Civilization 5. On PC, anyway. For consoles I've been playing Halo 4 and Borderlands 2. But mostly, it's been KSP.

All of the above, but mostly builder. I build something, test it, rebuild it, test it again, tweak it, rebuild it, test it, tweak it, tweak it, tweak it, wipe my save because i found a new mod that i want to integrate into all my designs or a new version came out, rinse, repeat.
