  1. I'm sure this isn't a new topic - I've seen enough to know there are monoliths/arches on the Mun, easter eggs on Duna, Laythe, Vall, and what not. I even believe there may be pyramids/a UFO on Kerbin. But nonetheless, I will start with one I did NOT know of - and just recently found out. I was...well....I was destroying KSC by flinging capsules at buildings. My maniacal little world of destruction. Watching everything burn........... Until I noticed a little white thing at the astronaut complex. It was a toilet. There is a toilet in the destroyed astronaut complex hanging by a thread on top of a...oh what's the word? Plumbing! on top of a PLUMBING pipe! Even better - you can get in this toilet. and derp. Very silly indeed, Felipe. So - what have you guys found?
  2. I cannot proceed in my space program until biomes are added to another celestial body (preferably Duna). Unlike NASA - the Kerbals do not sell their program out to contracts, Squad. WE MUST HAVE BIOMES
  3. Look at this guys. My hometown is Phoenix AZ, and I usually fly to and from there simply because I am very familiar with the airport. I swear to god this isn't some sort of mod or anything that I can help - but the bots at this airport have been acting EXTREMELY STRANGE. For example, I was starting up an MD-83 freeware aircraft I downloaded from Simviation to test it out on a flight to San Diego, and I kid you not a white 747..this HUGE plane - goes BARRELING across the runway, through the airport fence, and into the downtown district of the city past the boundaries of the airport. I was so shocked that I forgot to take pictures - BUT, I did get snaps of a less-exciting-but-still-strange incident. Check this out. I'm flying an Airbus A321 (Well, taxiing) to the runway in the Pacifica livery...and there are 2 other Pacifica planes - a Bombardier CRJ700 and another Airbus A321. It's not until the other Airbus turns onto the runway that I notice this: His cargo doors are open. ??? This is on singleplayer, bots never act this way. I've never even seen a bot open it's cargo doors when parked at a gate! The planes behave erratically (747 taxiing at full power crashing into fences and trees), and its just all-around out of control weirdness. I'm starting to think maybe some Kerbals commandeered these aircraft. Do any of you have an explanation for this? (This IS singleplayer free-flight mode. I'm not on MP). and to answer the almighty question - yes, he did take off and fly away with his cargo doors open.
  4. I killed all my Kerbals and then after I started up KSP again they were all alive and well again! WTF Is this happening to anyone else? I just want to clean out my astronaut list. *EDIT* I toggled permadeath after reading the first page of this thread. *facepalm*
  5. My last Munar flight! It's been a great campaign. I try to keep some congruency with flight numbers I guess (I won't be able to anymore since NASA kind of left off at the Moon back in 1972) so obviously my first Mun landing was dubbed Kerpollo 11. But seeing as there are 15 biomes on the moon, I couldn't just leave off at 17. So Kerpollo 25 was my last Munar landing. A nice number if you ask me. Now, off to Minmus, and beyond... P.S: Stole the insignia from NASA's ISS program, but it looked nice, and had my number on it.
  6. On the 9th of July 2014 Dovetail Games announced a licensing agreement with Microsoft to distribute Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition (which will include the Deluxe Edition and the Acceleration Pack)[18] and to develop further products based on Microsoft's technology for the entertainment market. They are expected to release a successor in 2015. Not a news thread, but still exciting! The franchise may not be dead yet. I almost screamed when I read this.
  7. Looks like you got an engine out Grumman Goose don't care.
  8. This is my go-to when stuck with "rocket-block" in the VAB.
  9. Flying my FASA/Stock hybrid Apollo Saturn V to the Mun - I can for once truly appreciate the pale blue dot! This is an absolutely must-have.
  10. Heheh...I feel you buddy. That game was awful without a joystick.
  11. Well could it be possible to do this whilst on the surface but when above say 200 meters or so (given correction for elevation, which parachutes do anyways) no "pole lock" as comham described it. - - - Updated - - - Pole lock...I like it! Mind if I use that term from now on? +Rep
  12. These are all fantastic! I personally cannot prove that FSX is better than Xplane or Flightgear - since I haven't tried the latter two. All I know is - I've been flying with Flight Simulator since FS2002 and it's been a great franchise. Sad that it got discontinued.
  13. I've come up with my own solution for this in the meantime - putting the mini Explorer decoupler upside-down (so it falls away with the cap) and using it that way. Although the cap does jut up like an inch or two, it doesn't ruin the whole look. It's not activating - as in it's...NOT a decoupler. It's just a...prop or something. There is no decoupler staging icon, there is no way to action group it - there is nothing it can do on it's own.
  14. I didn't know that - but it's still not exactly what I was looking for. I was aware of the roll - and the pitch is pretty much useless since he just snaps back to where he was when you let the mouse go anyways. I was thinking more of a rotation over the left or the right side and having a fixed-camera that wasn't reliant on the planet/body or otherwise so you could have your own little way of getting around things. Trust me - spend 5 minutes in space orbiter SFS using MMU and you will see what I'm talking about. It's incredibly dizzying and awesome to do.
  15. I'm taking a page straight out of Spaceorbiter SFS - the game that Felipe used to play before he was inspired to make this. I love EVA-ing. I do as much as I can when I have the opportunity because the point of view is absolutely tremendous. The only "rotating" you can do is when you press V to switch the camera from Free to Orbital or Chase mode and your Kerbal rotates accordingly. In simple terms, there IS an up/down in KSP when you are in space. I wish to make this not so. The ability to use the numberpad to actually rotate, not just turn or flip - but have your own custom attitude not aligned to the planet or celestial body. I know this probably goes under the category "Fine EVA controls" in the Already Suggested box - but after playing around a bit with spaceorbiter's Universal MMU, I would pay to see this implemented in the awesomely graphical/physical world of KSP.
  16. Hey frizzank! Love this mod - I've always considered it a staple mod to anyone I know who has KSP among Novapunch and KW Rocketry. I have 1 problem with this install, and forgive me if is just happening to ME or what but...the Mercury capsule parachute cap is not decoupling anymore. It does not function as a decoupler. :S
  17. I am so mad. I have never seen an eclipse from the surface. Orbit? Plenty of times. I was finishing a manned orbital mission from Duna and I landed RIGHT on the beach. Decided to do a little after-mission photo-shoot with the Kerbals and my friend Salamore0 says: "You should get an eclipse" I try to EXPLAIN to him that it just can't be done - the angle would be wrong. I look over my shoulder: BOOM, eclipse.
  18. Yeah, I love orbiter 2010. You know what is extremely entertaining, is a modpack for it called AMSO. (Apollo Mission Simulator...huh) Anyways, you can download sound packs for all the Apollo flights. Choose a flight, and ACTUAL historic audio will play when you reach a certain MET. It is an absolutely tremendous experience, you really do forget you are playing a video game. Although Space Orbiter is extremely difficult next to KSP given the lack of visuals. I've pretty much tackled and mastered lunar flights, but interplanetary transfers are still a mind-boggle to me. I haven't done 1.
  19. Neither does mine. FSX has the potential for great graphics, but you must have a good rig, and perhaps a few bucks to spend. Check out this: http://www.fspilotshop.com/real-environment-xtreme-rex-essential-plus-overdrive-p-3929.html It completely re-invents the FSX graphics engine without affecting physical performance of the game whatsoever. It's great.
  20. Very true. My joystick was only about 18 bucks, but I have had it for 5 years. I've only more recently started using FSX (I stopped playing for a little while) because of the "discovery" of awesome payware aircraft (including this Bell X-1) that make the game unbelievably awesome.
  21. Yeah. I know X-plane is better with scenery and environmental graphics, but with a little retouching (addons such as Real Environment X...ect) FSX can look good as new. I have been playing the Flight Simulator Series since 2002. It's an awesome game. Being as loyal as I am to MSFS, I have been a little hesitant to switch over to X-plane 10.
  22. As much as I adore KSP for rocketry, it's atmospheric aircraft system needs ALOT of work. (No offense, KSP dev team. I only mean good things. It's just that unity can be a bit...frustrating at times. But the aerodynamic system needs some retouching) But I already have a solution for that at the moment. Microsoft's Flight Simulator X! The best, truly the best in aviation simulators. It is absolutely amazing. Don't take my word for it, look at these pictures! This is me flying the Bell X-1. An experimental aircraft that can reach speeds of Mach 2.3, and can reach altitudes of 100,000 feet. This forum is not just for planes, but also pictures in Space Orbiter. If you have a good picture from orbit, please post! I am a fanatic of all-kinds simulation, but please keep it relevant to aviation. I posted the 3 major aviation simulators that I know of, but if you are playing an older version of flight simulator (2000, 2002, 2004, ect.) or X-plane, feel free to post away! Space Orbiter Pictures: Please make sure your pictures are either within the atmosphere or within LEO. (Low Earth Orbit).
  23. Jurrasic Park theme - Welcome To Jurrasic Park Amazing for a moon mission. Who would have thought?
  24. ------------snipped------------
  25. The Mighty Saturn V. I doubt there is much else that is as close to the real thing as mine is. It stands 381 feet tall. (The real one is 363 feet tall, but mine doesn't have payload fairings for the LEM, so it's a bit longer). All the stages do exactly what the stages for the Saturn do. First Stage - Just gets it off the pad and about a mile high. Second Stage - On a Suborbital Trajectory (Peak at about 115,000 M) Third Stage - To Boost into Orbit - then to go to the Mun. If used wisely, this can also even do BETTER than the Saturn V and burn into lunar orbit. A job normally used for the Command Module. (I think). The Saturn Launch Vehicle 1st and second stage are entirely Nova Punch. The Third stage and upward is a eccentric mix of stock and KW Rocketry, with a bit of misc. addons here and there including a custom launch escape tower, and mission patches you can put on the side of your craft. This baby always flies. It isn't too unstable, and it makes you go wow every time. To top it all off, my LEM has every detail to the last. Including an ascent stage, and capability to carry a rover. No Mun mission would be complete without a NASA-style Lunar Orbit Rendezvous.
