Aiming for Kerbonaut. Already made it, pictures in flight coming soon. But first: Uh. I didn't see the shrink in the diagram for the SRB... You changed that, didn't you. Sneaky...
-
The Thrusthound. It would have stopped, but then I ran out of runway. Nevertheless, the pilot survived. If I could find a couple hundred metres more flat I could break ~430m/s before fuel ran out. It doesn't need all the engines (each pod adds like 3m/s to the end speed after the first 3), but I like it. Expect a much more tounge-in-cheek entry in a bit . Sigh, IMGUR y u h8te me? http://imgur.com/17taPYZ,8q4KMnR,0PAUPSj http://imgur.com/17taPYZ,8q4KMnR,0PAUPSj#1 http://imgur.com/17taPYZ,8q4KMnR,0PAUPSj#2 EDIT: I won't provide pictures. Instead, guess how I did it. 2123m/s. Bear in mind this entry entry follows the rules to the letter - especially the fact that no wheel leaves the ground at any point.
-
The ksp land speed record is around 1100-1200m/s, acheived on the flats of minmus. At Kerbin sea level I will be pleased if I can break the speed of sound. Note: For the same of your challenge, I recommend mods/stock leaderboards, no glitch/bug exploits (I.e. no infinigliders) and the ability to refuse to accept any entry you deem unsuitable. But hey, I'll have a go! Edit: Does it have to be manned? Are seats ok? Are we allowed to stage? Edit edit: Just got to 412m/s! Go me!

Great. No points for orbit only then, but I'll be sure to pack one whatever. I'll test it in Munar gravity, see how well it works. If it works well, I might even give it wheels so it can drive around then climb mountains, although a hopper class craft would do better.
-
I never thought of having it on the lander - but it could certainly work. I'd have to take a traditionall Apollo mission there to find out.

Here's a pic for you of Jeb enjoying his new toy in the z-g testing chamber: It weighs about 935kg and has it's own custom mounting bracket. I'm bringing it whatever, because it's fun to have, but I thought a bonus for it (for !!SCIENCE!! purposes) would be neat. Strictly intended for whizzing around the ship for the hell of it, I could even conceivably cheat my way through many biomes, but I rather wouldn't. If I wanted huge bonuses, I'd spam kerbals and tiny rovers (I'm taking 12, 3 (2 unmanned, 1 manned)) instead.
-
If I have a manned MMU as well as a sci sat and rovers, can I count that as an extra 0.2 in the science section please? It does weigh about 1t.

Thanks. Expect to see some simple icons appear sometime. -
Optional MechJeb Modules for FAR, NEAR & km_Gimbal 2/3 (July 16)
Octobomb replied to sarbian's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I'd like to have a go at the buttons, please. A few questions, seeing as I've never tried anything like this before. Alpha means transparency, right? Do I have to change anything in photoshop to get alphas? 24x24 means 24px by 24px totals, like pixel art kinda? Any specific requirements? I'm totally new to this so I'll just be trying out skills, so don't expect art. Thanks for all your help. -
p101! Woo! tenchars

What is this WITCHCRAFT?

This thread will have rewritten the rules of science by the time .23 comes out.

How far you can get a kerbal with 10 parts?
Octobomb replied to Jaleco's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Yeah, I'ma try this too. It's good, and looks fun! -
How far you can get a kerbal with 10 parts?
Octobomb replied to Jaleco's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Behold! Map! You can just add up the numbers and rank them like that. Although, for anything with an atmosphere don't add the landing values to account for chutes. Good luck! Might try this later. -
What are Rockomax 48-7S good for? (Picture)
Octobomb replied to Phesired's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I built a 11t Tylo lander with it: There are 3 down below. They really are fantastic. -
If you click on the speed indicator above your navball, it switches between surface/orbital/target speeds. But I knew that. I discovered, if you switch to orbital when you are landed it shows the direction of the planet's rotation, so to get into orbit you just tilt towards prograde then switch back to surface. Does this make sense?

A thrust button, for landing.
Octobomb replied to Sathurn's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
There's a mod on spaceport which ramps your throttle up to 100% with Z I think... I'll see if I can find it. -
The six words at Nasa: http://xkcd.com/1244/ This one's hidden in the title text (mouseover): http://www.xkcd.com/1106/ Maybe Randall is one of us!
-
Well, sort of. http://what-if.xkcd.com/68/ Hover your mouse over the second bottom picture and you'll see a reference to us! Is Randall one of us? To flesh it out a bit, the What If? was about what would happen if there was an asteroid with Earth's gravity and when you take off what strange orbits it would produce.
-
Then I guess I'm screwed. Edit: mind, that's what the wasd keys in the SPH are for right? Anyways, Jeb on a missile was shot down by a mass driver, why can't I have some fun? Just build one with one big missile and teach me a lesson
-
Easy. Loose all the projectiles at once, then watch the debris fly. Works more like a shotgun than anything else Edit: No access to KSP now, but when I do, I'll build me a wheel'd armoured version. Then we can have a rematch!
-
I take your mech and raise you a light mass driver, a.k.a, the frisbee slingshot. Now I gotta stick it on wheels and amour it!
-
Worst thing to say: 'NO! **** YOU!' Loving the AAR btw.

Challenge 18 Orange Tanks to Orbit
Octobomb replied to Bothersome's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
'So it runs a little slow' Kerbal for me becomes so laggy at 300 parts mechjeb can't pilot it. At 400 parts KSP dies totally. That said, this is a very simple and easy challenge if you exploit a simple loophole: Nobody said anything about the tanks having to be FULL at launch - ill just refuel them in orbit, one or two tanks at a time. Supernova can lift 4. Tedious, yes, but even on a low end computer feasible. EDIT: Yes, I know it says no refuelling in space, but there are no specifications for tanks having to remain full. -
[Scenario] Rendezvous With Roche
Octobomb replied to NovaSilisko's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Wow. Just incredible. Was gonna say, has anyone thought of just building a space station on it? Hmm.. Twiddles thumbs as Kerbal is not available ATM...... Yah yah ah yah yah yahyahyahyahyahYAHYAHYAHBAM! *head explodes from excitements*
