  1. It's doable. Still working on the "getting down" part of it, but mine can "get up". Climb hard to 5k, coast to 10k on the engines, then burn the LFOs at 45. Total ascent time is around 7min.
  2. About 7hours in total, finally did a munar fly by and upgraded the launch pad. 30th mission or so overall. The grind is real. Science is incredibly hard to come by until you can make a heavy SRB rocket that can break orbit / return (though this resulted in me making a almost entirely SRB rocket to get a munar flyby). Money isn't a real bottleneck since all the early stuff is so cheap (especially SRBs, which are pennies for a dollar considering what they can do), it's science that seems incredibly slow. Not landing on the mun till I can EVA / Surface sample, which will take another dozen or so contracts till I have enough funds for both building upgrades.
  3. I like the feel, which makes me laugh and is hilarious (a few friends pile around an old bunker, and start up a space program into a major kerbal-national interest). But I have to agree to the rust / decay concerns. Without some very significant texture updates for all of Jeb's Junkyard parts, or the addition of just a bunch of parts in general with the rusted theme, it clashes visually with the established goofy theme of KSP. Something to considered as the models are polished.
  4. I'ma have to vote no, generating free isp and thrust just seems...wrong. This is cartoon sim, but its still a relatively accurate simulator for space. And stuff like that just is....not right. I like the idea of boosting science gain, and maybe like handling in atmosphere / reentry etc, but not of free isp. I think it would be better if science was directly tied to stupidity, stupid kerbals make poor scientists but good test dummies. And anything they do involving science is generally just bad. And that bravery affects reputation and medals / experience. A badass brave, no fear kerbal, that lands on a planet should have a huge reputation gain when he gets back / first lands on a foreign body. Or something.
  5. Kerbal Xp and mission log, tied directly to reputation. Gas Giant #2 Biomes for everything. More easter eggs on every solar object.
  6. I wonder if they'll sneak in gas giant #2 if they're finishing biomes. 2 birds with one stone! Would be a great "secret" element of the immensity and depth coming along with this patch!
  7. If theyre finishing up biomes, maybe we can finish up the solar system too. GAS GIANT NUMBER 2 HYPE? Well this is KSP. So bigger, better, and more boosters. Add even more parts and expand the tech tree further.
  8. I built a massive interplanetary ship and went to Moho with it (something like 800 parts) for the sole purpose of sticking a flag in the bottom of both "Moholes" and on the highest peak I could find. The mission went major awry (one of the 3 probes crashed into the surface and didn't survive, the return ship was devoured by the kraken, both rovers had some sort of mechanical errors on the surface, one of the landers ran out of fuel, one of my "Dogs" (a non-crew rover) wasn't balanced correctly for the surface and ended up exploding after about 5km of exploration trying to climb out of a crater... jeb got stuck in the bottom of one of the Moholes...) after arriving at Moho and I spent so much of the mission trying to figure out ways to still gather science and plant the flags of victory and make sure I could still return to kerbin. No kerbals died (fortunately) and they all were able to start returning to Kerbin after a month of utter chaos and broken equipment on the surface of Moho -- but it was my first major interplanetary mission on such a scale, and almost nothing went right.
  9. I used save edits to get in orbit inclination with my first asteroid grab. Was too hard
  10. It is glorious. Restarted my save and I have been using nothing but pure SRBs to plant me into (usually very elliptical) orbit. Its rock steady and easy to control with a wing pair, and the power and burn time of this is what every SRB strives to be. Nothing but love.
  11. Have we considered waiting for the arm patch, and using nothing but E class asteroids to make a pyramid to the stars?
  12. Still want to see it, still think itll be a valuable addition at this point, especially after all the mods that came out with silly planet additions. Only problem is adding it when so few planets have biomes and stuff right now though. There's not alot of things to "explore" on any of the planets barring a half dozen Easter eggs. And biomes are limited to the kerbin system. Need more Easter Eggs and need more biomes overall before we add the gas giant #2. Big patch that finishes all the biomes to a rough set + adds the 2nd gas giant with 2-3 moons? + Eeloo? I'd love it.
  13. Starting to get the point we need to improve the VAB UI again. Separate those engines / fuel tanks a bit with sub tabs. So many parts . I except to see more cooperation with NASA, and potentially other space agencies to add select things to the game. For example, a massive "telescope" part that allows you to spot asteroids in SOI's beyond Kerbin. (except the sun, obviously), and of course the long waited 2nd gas giant ;p
  14. The one that requires more boosters. Massive, super complex, pure SRB surface-to-orbit launches are the best. There's alot to be said about rocket design when you're completely comfortable ramming a 200T monster into orbit using nothing but SRBs.
  15. I doubt thats possible around Kerbin.... but what of gilly?
  16. With the exception of how the combo chutes are done, I could definitely see real chutes being added to KSP. Overall theyre very well balanced. And the no SNAP MY ROCKET IN HALF 20G PARACHUTE MAN is a nice touch. I could see elements of KAS being added as well. Running around with gravoli detector on your back is great. Very kerbal-ly.
  17. Good concept and it looks very sleek. The cockpit isn't really in the ksp style, and it'll need painted on heatshields to match the rest of the ksp parts, but otherwise good part!
  18. Any chance we can get a "light" version of this with realistic displacement of the bodies you created throughout the kerbin system, potentially with less overall planetary bodies? (instead of all it orbiting Urania?) Or instructions on how to do this ourselves? Overall it looks spectacular. Just annoyed by the lack of pseudo-realism
  19. Rovers, aircraft (atmo planes) and rockets should all develop independently in their own sub-tech trees, tbh.
  20. If you realign the thinking to when the major popularity jump was (IE: 2013 steam summer sale) then there's really only been 6 or so months of high income, high development time. All the patches since .20 have essentially rewrote much of the code (each having a major performance increase coupled in with it) and built sections of the game from out of thin air (IE: Science, tweakables) think about everything those 2 things alone affect in game and you'll understand why it takes so long, for a game that doesn't have a definitive development schedule, this is actually reasonably good. Now mind you, I would love if they would do part patches, or UI patches separately, and have them every month or so (and a major patch every other month). Much of the complaints for this games development come from the great space between patches. Fill those up with something (anything really) to show the community you're still actively working on the game and those complaints will drop dramatically. And lets be honest, if the devs came to one of the modders on these forums and say "Hey, we really like your mod, and we want to implement it into the base game (with some tweaks), we'll put your name in the credits and everything" 90% of the modders here will drool and gaze over and say yes. Would certainly shave off some hours of development time for certain things.
  21. Really hope to see a planetary body christmas gift. It doesn't have to be Gas Giant 2, but I would applaud a charon analogue for dres or eeloo. Or another moon for jool. Devs have stated that adding planetary bodies isn't particularly hard (and they have dozens of "test" planets), just that they don't wanna continue adding planets until more of the game is complete. I'm a 'tad spoiled though. And just want something new to crash into.
  22. Land the SSTO, use a kerbal on EVA to take all the experiments from it, and then board a new command pod. And recover that.
  23. Thats an incredibly beautiful ship. Very aesthetically pleasing.
  24. It depends on the acceleration of the object. If you get enough parts to fly fast enough, they'll take just about anything out.
