  1. Thank you for doing that math for me, I had been putting it off I'll adjust the figures on the new update that I'll be uploading shortly
  2. So I started making a larger tank, similar to the first but having it be of a size where the caps would mate with the standard 2.5m pieces. After getting it made, I realized just how large this tank would be. By doing the math, I find that the new tank would have a diameter of 7.5m and hold 11,520L of Liquid Fuel and 14,080 of Oxidizer if it stayed consistent with the first one... Over 140t for one tank when full.
  3. I love this plan, and look forward to using these when you release them
  4. Glad it's working out for you! I'd love to see screenshots of what you're doing with them
  5. This one counts as a 1.25 meter part I am planning on doing just this. I'm going to make them for both the .625 and 2.5 sizes, as well as ones with monopropellant. I just want to make sure this one has no issues before I start (My first part and all ) I really like this idea. I'll give it a shot tonight.
  6. aaaaaand.... I believe I fixed the texture issue. Sorry about that to those who downloaded it, the corrected version is up on spaceport now.
  7. I'm working on a bracket for it, but have yet to come up with an idea for one that is both feasible and good looking. I'll keep plugging away at it though
  8. Finally got it to show up on spaceport. I've started a thread in the release subforum with the download link: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/30673-Part-0-20-0-Spherical-Fuel-Tank
  9. EVEN MORE OPTIMIZATION! The Spherical and Toroidal tank packs have been combined into one set. Through the use of the Modular Fuels and Firespitter plugins, you are now able to customize the type and capacity of the contents of each tank. No longer will you have to flip through several pages in the VAB to go through the entire parts list.! The parts in the pack have also been update to be included in the technology tree introduced in career mode of KSP v0.22 NOTE: In order to use Modular Fuels functionality, you will need to download and install either the Modular Fuel Tanks or Real Fuels Mods. Links to their respective threads: MODULAR FUEL TANKS REAL FUELS Here is what is included in the pack, along with directions on usage: SPHERICAL TANKS! The Spherical Fuel Tank Pack has been completely redone. New versions of the tanks are now available, with optimized models and file system! The Pack now includes the following tanks: ***NOTE*** This is a completely new and redone pack, separate from the previous one. All tanks have new names, so they will NOT overwrite the old files. I suggest you use the new pack, but if you have ships dependant on the old tanks, do not delete the previous pack until you are done with them. TOROIDAL TANKS! Now available is a set of modular toroidal tanks! The hubs are separate from the tanks so that you may mix and match tank sizes with attachment point sizes. Due to the narrowness of the hubs, the easiest way to correctly attach the tanks is to place the hub in the correct location on your rocket first, then place the torus after you have build on either side of the hub. DOWNLOAD Thank you to Majiir for hosting the downloads, and Thanks go to ialdabaoth and NathanKell for use of the Modular Fuels plugin. View the current forum thread HERE Thanks also go to Snjo for use of the Firespitter plugin. View his current forum thread HERE -- Changelog -- v3.0 - Initial release of combined Spherical and Toroidal tank packs using Firespitter and Modular Fuels plugins v3.01 (minor update) - Added toroidal hubs to career mode technology tree - Added support for TAC Life Support mod resources to storage containers v3.02 - Updated tank configurations to be more compatible with MFS standards. Should allow use of these tanks with realfuels more easily. - Removed MFS plugin from download. If you do not have MFS installed, the only fuel type available on the tanks will be LFO. If you install the MFS mod, then these tanks will support all types that it does. MFS will also be required in order to use the storage tanks (EL/TAC containers under utility tab) - Updated resources names for TAC Life Support Mod - Removed support for Ioncross Crew Support Mod due to resource name conflicts v3.1 - Compatible with KSP v0.23 - Updated to current version of FireSpitter plugin - Corrected amounts of TAC waste resources in storage containers v3.11 - Updated models, should fix issues with tanks resizing when used as root node - Updated dry masses of toroidal tanks. (Thanks again to taniwha for the maths) v3.12 - Updated masses for toroidal tanks, they are much lighter now (taniwha again to the rescue!) - Increased node sizes for toroidal tanks and hubs to take advantages to changes in joints introduced by the KSP v0.23.5 update. 10. I didn't expect to get any replies so quickly. I just uploaded it to spaceport and I'll make a release post once it shows up. I had just planned to use some generic parts to mount the tank radially, but I like the idea of a custom mount for it. I'll see what I can come up with. I appreciate the feedback!
  11. I've been working on this tank for a while now, but while I'm happy with the model, I really suck at texturing. I decided to go with a very simple texture job that seems to fit well with the stock aesthetic, and I think it worked out pretty well. It is a spherical fuel tank about half the size of the Rockomax Jumbo-64 tank, and I just kind of eyeballed the fuel capacity because I'm too lazy to do the math right now. I'm just wondering what people think of this design, and whether there would be any interest in me putting it up for download. The tank is stackable on both top and bottom, as well as being able to be surface attached. It is very similar to Fiddlestyx's excellent looking part located at http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/29528-Fuel-Orb-%28fuel-storage-tanks%29-add-on-release, but it has a very different aesthetic. Please let me know what you think. I have also begun working on a spherical HAB module: Comments and suggests always welcome!
  12. I am looking forward to using this one! The only reason I didn't use it much before was because the lights were tied to staging, but no I have no more excuses not to light up the night sky of Kerbin with flashy space stations!
  13. This looks great! I've been working on making a spherical fuel tank myself, but while I am (I feel ) decent at modelling, I am painfully inept at texturing.
  14. I agree that the spaceport is a mess right now. Having said that, however, I think it could be fairly easily made useful to most people by doing 3 things: 1. Limiting tags. Not necessarily only one per mod, but maybe 3 at the max? 2. Making it possible to exclude items from a search based on tags, in addition to searching for particular tags. 3. Moving .craft files to their own category (or requiring them to be tagged as a .craft file, if #2 were implemented) Now I'm not certain how difficult any of these would be to implement, but I have seen other websites with just this type of system, so I have hope
  15. The upper center I launched separately. I launched it upside down with a decoupler attached to the top of the command module, then split off after I docked it
  16. The solar panels I used are from Kosmos Space Station parts pack http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/kosmos-tks-spacecraft/
  17. After many false starts and many more attempts at docking correctly, I have finally finished the core of my station
