Let's talk about something other than alcohol. What would man kind do if we found sentient alien life?

THAT would be awesome. But, where will the resources to build such a thing come from? Interstellar mining will need to be done in order to harvest enough materials to build a custom planet. A good way this could actually be done is to put a strong center of gravity in the asteroid belt. Asteroids will be pulled towards it, and will slowly form a a proto-planet. After an even longer time, it may become a full fledged planet. Of course, this will take probably a billion years.

Well, both trains in tubes and planes in space are a good idea. Especially for orbital colonies. Now, what would be just as good is a ring surrounding the entire planet, and a space elevator.

That could work. Now, how to translate languages? Show a word and show an image for the word. Then the aliens show their word for that image.

Spaceplanes are such great idea. Sadly, only the United States and the Russians are the only people that actually made ones that worked. At least NASA is working on two new spaceplanes, the X-37 (which the military is actually using) and the Dream Chaser.

Their number symbols would probably be WAY different from ours. Also, they might not even have the same symbol for Pi. Therefore, they wouldn't understand these. The only way to be able to come up with translations for their language (or languages) to ours and our languages to theirs. To actually start off, we could communicate with them through pictures.
