  1. That's so unfair! I landed my first rover on Duna yesterday and looked around like mad for anything interesting. What do terrain settings need to be on to allow these to be seen?
  2. I do a few things. One- I quicksave and do a fast burn to make sure the navigation computer has the right time down. Sometimes it takes a split second or two for the ISP to 'warm up' in an engine and let the nav computer have the right time. Two- I try to set burns 50/50 around the node. If I need to burn for 1 minute, I start the burn at 30 seconds to the node. If you're doing a REALLY big burn, maybe it's worthwhile to try and gravity slingshot- which is REALLY hard and I've only once been able to use in a useful way, and that by accident. What I recommend, though, is changing your rocket design. 20 minutes is enough time to finish the better part of an orbit around Kerbin. Care to take the trouble to send me one of your .craft files? I'm interested
  3. My first advice is to start with the Kerbal X- maybe adding an ASAS module on. That way we aren't wondering if this is a bug in the game or a rocket issue.
  4. Reference: http://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/Tutorial:Advanced_Rocket_Design That's incredibly odd...
  5. I was always really annoyed by debris, and I planned to- but I learned about the debris persistence option, so, I never need it."
  6. Now make an orbiter that lands in the water, acts as a boat, and henceforth returns to the space center.
  7. Oh god get the lawyers (note to self: learn how to delete posts)
  8. Download link: http://www./download/ifbd9361cmh40mp/Luna_II.craft Please respond with recommendations or opinions! After trying to fly the Munbug line of ships, I finally came to the conclusion that I couldn't due to lag, technical difficulties, and lack of being good at rocketry. The solution? Make one of my own. This is my first big project: A full Munar expedition ship with a command module, lander, and rover. With a little tweaking (placing on a QUBE) the rover could be made optionally manned OR unmanned. This is done like most any Apollo mission- and if that isn't enough explanation for you, give a reply and I'll tell full instructions. Just look at what you can satisfy! Its beauty on the launch pad! Its elegance in orbit! Even more elegance in orbit! Satisfy your need for speed! That's right, the rover can breakdance!
  9. *Shrug* I don't know. I assume that a part breaks between the command module/lander and the actual thrusters, which would prevent throttle control. Anyway... I'm sorry for getting so angry. Mostly it's jealousy that your designs are so much cooler than mine- and the fact that I can't fly them makes me a bit upset. Edit: I finally got it pretty far without breaking it and it only reached 30-40km apoapse before I had to use the Duna insertion stage. I'm just really annoyed because apparently I suck at rockets.
  10. I can't do this, it keeps breaking while I'm ascending to orbit and I can't control throttle. All in all none of your ships have EVER worked for me, not even Munbug. Which is just slightly annoying. That's not to say I can't get to the Mun, but it's very strange how high your failure rate is. I just had to be honest here because I'm tired of not even being able to get this stuff into orbit.
  11. Sometimes I'm like "Oh, man, I'm gonna have this guy slam into the Munar surface so hard he dies!" But then, then he looks scared... And I have to stop. From now on, Kerbal safety is top priority.
  12. My friend made this flag- It isn't actually the complete version. This one has slightly left-justified text, which is fixed in the actual version (which I'm too lazy to rummage for.)
  13. An extremely light glider-like craft, Ventra 1 is the first plane I designed to break the speed of sound. (I only managed it once, so no promises.) It's also maneuverable in a way that I absolutely adore. Download: http://www./?6afjahrftij97h7
  14. *Shakes head* I don't understand why it isn't working, then... Blarg.
  15. I just don't understand. All of a sudden I can't orbit anything and it's annoying me.
  16. Thanks, I'll try that real fast and get you my results.
  17. Typical approach to orbiting: 1) During initial ascent, avoid the speed of sound (Actually, limit yourself to about 200m/s.) 2) Rise up to about 10km before turning to a 45º angle of thrust. At this point, don't worry about speed of sound or 200m/s and open up. 3) Once you reach about 30km fire horizontally until your apoapse is at the desired point (I usually have orbits at 100km) 4) Once near or at apoapse, fire prograde or use a navigation node. Is there something I could be doing differently?
  18. I'm getting really, really upset because whenever I download ships made by other people they don't work. They just completely run out of fuel on stages they're not supposed to, such as Munbug, which I can't get into a stable Kerbin orbit without using the translunar injection stage, and more. I'm just in disbelief because it always happens and it is making me feel like I'm doing something desperately wrong and I don't know what or why.
  19. Whenever I download a ship made by someone else I can't get it to work as intended. It's starting to really piss me off.
  20. Oh, oh, I have a really good one. I'll put it on soon, right now I'm on my iPad.
