  1. What was Bill's comment about Jeb's spaceship? "It was Riveting!"
  2. Inflatable Habs could help that a bit; (some) more living space for your payload mass/volume. Otherwise keep em' busy. Have the crew members cross train eachother whilst in transit, and make most of the non-critical tasks doable manually(preferably in a short-sleeve environment. Include a big electronic "library", spare computers for games/backups, and lightweight, magnetized pieces for nonelectronic games. Also include a wide variety of foodstocks, and high-quality air filters and scents to alleviate the inevitable stench. A stock of cockroaches (to eat skin cells and other organic debris, preventing them from rotting) may also be a good investment, although not for the entomophobic. If you're going to use an algae farm, consider bring some fiber(or growing it with more algae) to add digestion and add something to chew. Also include lots of flavoring.
  3. NERVA's already been tested and proven on the ground; It got shelved when the Mars mission proposal did after Apollo. VASMIR's gonna get tested on the ISS in 2016. We'll have alternatives to chem rockets by the time 2021 rolls around.
  4. I might add that some of this was derived from designs for shaped nuclear charges for Orion drives.
  5. Ya, can there be attachable fuel lines? There's already attachable struts; maybe use the same bases and stow struts/fuel lines as reels of each?
  6. Maybe send someone to check on Bop? ...though only if you write a mean horror story. Moho might also be a good target.
  7. Do we need a seperate building? Just have the recovered vehicle be accessible from the VAB/SPH as a craft file or subassembly(To modify, reattach boosters, etc) or the launchpad/runway(it would get refurbished automatically, naturally.)
  8. Could we use stored craft as subassemblies? So you can build a reusable rocket and then add it to a payload. Also, how do we assess reusability of, say, boosters?
  9. Because Venus, contrary to the name, is not a nice place. Surface pressure and temperature is 92 atmospheres and 462 Celsius, respectively. It's basically a planet size pressure cooker. The Soviets did send the Venera probes down, but none lasted more than an hour and that was just Viking style probes, no roving.
  10. Looks like an explosion in a wing factory.
  11. 7. is 3. with a neutron star or hypernova. Crash-development of Alcubierre drives, anyone?
  12. I'd argue with your definition of "best". The Men First, and all that.
  13. Why did I imagine the radiation shields making the sounds of tin cans as they drop?
  14. World Renown. You'd be the chaps who made the Mars mission possible, that's not something everyone could say.
  15. Security, to prevent hijacking/malfunctions resulting in firing? (Incidentally, why nuclear silos are manned.) Remote Marine deployments via droppods, ODST style?
  16. Theoretical problem with the Drive is that it picks up all the interstellar hydrogen/other particles it comes across. If the drive collapses as soon as it hits atmosphere, it'll dump all of that in every which direction. Think a localized supernova, if it came from another star without stopping.
  17. Somewhat unrelated, but suppose you had a small tactical nuke and a lot of chaff. Could you use the nuke to heat up and disperse said chaff? You'd end up with a very hot cloud of chaff as well as the usual flash. Might be useful as a "smokescreen".
  18. Tried again with just EL, no other mods. Same bug. I'll try re-downloading EL.
  19. Well, it seems to work fine without EL. Tried removing Kerbal Engineer but keeping EL. No parts get loaded at all. Huh.
  20. I didn't find a player.log, but I found an output_log that seems to be the same thing. It says: AssemblyLoader: Exception loading 'EngineerToolbar': System.Reflection.ReflectionTypeLoadException: The classes in the module cannot be loaded. at (wrapper managed-to-native) System.Reflection.Assembly:GetTypes (bool) at System.Reflection.Assembly.GetTypes () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at AssemblyLoader.LoadAssemblies () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 Additional information about this exception: System.TypeLoadException: Could not load type 'EngineerToolbar.EngineerToolbar' from assembly 'EngineerToolbar, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'. (Filename: C:/BuildAgent/work/ea95e74f6e5f192d/Runtime/ExportGenerated/StandalonePlayer/UnityEngineDebug.cpp Line: 54) Bit of clarification:It only happens if extraplanetary Launchpads is installed, and only the kerbal engineer parts are unaffected.
