Is this just the engine or the tank they are attached to, adding struts to your tanks will improve their stability... not sure if you can strut aero engines, but you can strut rockets for sure.

Grats to you antbin, very neat. Using the aero fuel in the rocket looks like a good idea. I can see how ASAS is lighter than a cockpit and your cockpit has lowest drag. The long wing has the best lift to weight ratio. Makes perfect sense. I have been trying a bigger craft (about twice the size, falls apart on the runway mostly) and still could not quite make it back from Minmus! Good going.

dogon11 you know the rules permit mod struts and legs? I think the rules make the challenge meaningful but being a purist inevitably tends to encourage snobbery which is not the right approach in the long run. So I agree that all contributions are welcome as they can be interesting and creative in their own right and can give ideas and inspirations to other players, so I have made a list for contributors who didn\'t quite succeed yet or who succeeded on their own terms! However I won\'t be abandoning the rules and will continue to make a clear distinction between those who succeed according to the challenge rules and those who contribute elsewise

OK antbin, cool, if you made a pinky swear that\'s fine. I am pleased to be able to add myself to the guest list at last. I overshot and had to turn around but had separate fuel reserves for the aeroengines so it was doable. I found I saved a lot of fuel by adding an acceleration phase at 12000m-15000m where I flew level and added about 200m/s to my speed taking it over 400m/s before pitching up and then lighting the rocket. The ship is not self righting exactly but almost has a snap to 90° ability for upright, left and right roll (doesn\'t like to go inverted) and will fly true if not pushed out of its comfort zone and is responsive once you work out how to use the pitch up controls to turn the ship after flipping it on its side.

I would comment the top advanced canards are dragging the top backwards as is the piggy back ship, you need to counter that not increase it. If you cant move the payload you can still move the adv canards, preferrably below the center of mass. Also since the center of mass is above the vector of thrust this also produces back flip torque, you could try angling the connectors carrying the outer nacelles so that the outer nacelles are raised up and are closer to the center of mass, that should reduce the torque but the bottom nacelle will still produce some.

Geoff IMHO KSP is a sandpit of boom and ambition is your only master. You dont need maths just slap it together, add a parachute, see if it flies.

Its always been a problem with the larger engines, the small engine is much more robust and is also just small enough for lander legs to work, which is what you are supposed to use for landing! You dont need large engines for landing on the Mün, but you do need them for lifting off from Kerbin, how you reconcile these two truths is your business. ;D
