One mans "ripoff" is another's Inspiration and Homage. There's a lot more than the loading screen. Glad to see you're sticking around. Enjoy!

While designing my Space Shuttle replica with stock parts I've tried designing 2 main things. The shape of the wings and the cluster of engines. The first version of my wings had severe lift issues in the game so I had to scale back on that for the time being. (That and other technical problems) For the engines, translating what I envision into something workable is a monumental task. My first iteration of engines required me to use fuel lines. The nature of the design is such that the engines are mounted on I-Beams, which as we know, don't have crossfeed. Not ideal I know, but it allows me to play with the angles, which is an incredibly important and touchy balancing act. This design, eventually worked; once I got the parts to stop clipping my fuel lines off. Yesterday, I started on my second design of the engines, it's a work in progress. They're clustered together much more nicely and I can now grab any part I want on the inside of the tail without ruining the design. I love the engineering design process I've been going through and have managed to do well with what I got.

Is there a simple config edit to fix ASAS?
Phenom Anon X replied to Jm419's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
This. I really like that idea. -
Thanks to those that came out. Sorry if I missed some of you, I was playing full screen and I never see who's on chat when that's the case. The SSMET (Space Shuttle Main Engine Test) mission was a half success. The main thing being that my Orbital Test Vehicle flew, the engines work and everything is a go. I just didn't have enough oomph to land on the runway, but landing this vehicle is a sheer joy! I'll be running another stream in a few minutes. (6pm PST, 9 Central) This time I'll be recording the build of the main booster assembly. I've also had enough NASA.tv for the day, so music will be the backgound filler on this go around. Once again, I'll be running full screen so leave a message in chat. I tried to reach a couple people via private message, but Twitch was acting up, so for those I missed, thank you very much! Now off to go build a booster engine for the OV-1 - Wheeeeee!!!! Cheers

I finally got my Shuttle Orbiter engines configured (see latest blog post for details) and got my flight characteristics sorted out! On that note, I am now continuing my Approach and Landing Tests with my (somewhat) authentic Nasa Shuttle :-) Actually, come to think of it, I might as well stream my current tests LIVE on Twitch, Come watch if you want.

Congrats on the new position!

I'm going to be streaming live at 1230 PST check out the preshow! I'm just going to be working out some kinks with my fuel line and hopefully be running some glide tests http://www.twitch.tv/phenomanonx See you there :-)

In my most recent blog post, I attempt a Nasa Like shutle design. (Although, I'm not particularly impressed with P2 at the moment) I had, what I thought, was a working fuel line for my up and coming Space Shuttle Main Engine Test (SSMET). I had also hoped for a more relaxing night on design instead of working with quirks and quarks and whatever else may come my way. I managed to set up a Twitch account, full 1080p, (I hope) and it just streams me fiddling around with my SSMET mission. Those Kerb Damned pipes just won't stay in place! I made a mess of things on my last save, so it could be an interesting night of experimentation with fuel lines. If successful, and that's a big IF, then I will be conducting further Approach and Landing Tests (ALT) with the Engine assembly, cutting the engines and hoping to Kerb that this thing glides. That in itself will take hours, however, If I manage to get through that, I'm going to redesign the P2 to the much prefered P1 aesthetic. (see imgur link in blog) All this is happening LIVE, right now! I don't do commentary, sorry. However, I do play music, so be prepared to mute the volume, or crank it up. If you're interested in watching me fail, over and over again then come give a watch, if you're bored, or whatever. http://www.twitch.tv/phenomanonx High in quality, high in boredom, AWESOME tunes, and some kerb'd up designs. Come on by! Cheers (I play full screen and won't respond to chat right away, jsyn) http://www.twitch.tv/phenomanonx

long term missions + mods = pointless?
Phenom Anon X replied to Motokid600's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I got home from work and it was updated. Guess I left steam open. meh I accepted my fate and have better focus with a clean install. There are some mods I would to have, but I'm holding off for a bit. -
Mechjeb taught me how to play...
Phenom Anon X replied to Momentosis's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
Quoted for truth. I used MJ like nobodies business for about 2 weeks. Since 0.2 I've been running stock and just prior to that, I was doing everything myself. Once I saw MechJeb perform a Hohmann transfer a few times, I finally got the concept. After a while, I would just put on my ship in the VAB for TWR stats. Now I don't even have it installed and use Engineer Redux for the stats I need. I removed the temptation and learned to pilot myself and feel the better for it. Now, if MJ had a sexy voice like the HAL9000, my life would be complete. "I'm sorry Dave, but I can't let you do that", is all I hear in my head while I have MJ running and I'm trying to do something manually. Derp. I will use MJ like a filthy whore again one day, but only to satisfy my needs when the time comes. For now, I've kicked her to the curb. -
This is sorely needed now.

What was the last thing you did in .19?
Phenom Anon X replied to Kerbal01's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I exploded -
I haven't seen one of these threads yet, forgive me if it exists already. I fell asleep last night watching some 1990's videos from NASA on orbital mechanics. I then woke up this morning, made a coffee, fed the cats and started watching this Orbital Mechanics video from MIT and realised, that I spend way too much time obsessing over KSP. http://youtu.be/8EWohKdE6oA Thank you Squad, for enhancing my life; really. Does anyone else here have an unusual affinity with KSP that has changed their daily routine in some small way, or is it just me?

I'm new to the game and have learned how to orbit and rendezvous (somewhat) efficiently. I am at the point now that I need ideas or missions in order to feel as though I am accomplishing things in KSP. Although I've travelled to the Mun and Minmus, I have yet to land anywhere other than on Kerbin. I'm really unsure on how or even if communications even work with a stock (base install) game. I may or may not use a mod. That will all depend on my plan of action. I have started and restarted multiple games with limited and/or catastrophic results. Thank you for offering this objective. Challenge Accepted :-)

Sadly, that's not possible... oh look! SQUIRREL!

Helllooo! I've been playing for a few weeks and loving it so far. I've played around with just about every add-on one can think of but then I completely lost track of every little thing I was doing. So, I removed everything and went with the base install of the game in order to learn a bit more, from the ground up, so to speak. The only thing I kept installed was chatterer and MechJeb. MechJeb is more of a teaching tool for me and I use it as little as possible in order to learn manually. I needed to practice my orbiting and docking and so decided to build a multi mission Space Station. I figured, if anything is going to teach me how to do, it will be a space station that needed multiple missions to build. Unsure of what to build for practicality purposes, I went with the tried and tested and true, Fueling Station. Here are my results: http://imgur.com/a/mkP2q It all ended in catastrophic failure and I loved every minute of it! The full story, as much as it was documented anyway, can be viewed and read on imgur. http://imgur.com/a/mkP2q Sorry for the lack of more images, but things got a little hairy at times and I was unable to take all the screenshots I wanted. This station as it turned out, grew more unstable as it was built. Mainly because of all the docking ports being used as glue to hold it all together. Even after a lot of sketchy moments of extreme wobblyness, the build managed to survive... mostly. Be that as it may, enjoy! I would also like to say, Thanks; to all the experienced players who frequently post here on the forums and Youtube, with a special mention going to, of course, Scott Manley. Without all of you, I don't think I would be enjoying this delightful game nearly half as much as I do now :-) I hope version 2 of this station goes a little better!

Well, I've finally gone and done it; found a good reason to register an account here on the forums. I do so to say, Thank You! I probably would not have spent nearly as many hours playing and experimenting with KSP if it wasn't for the easy removal and addition of other mods. Hands down (next to MechJeb), this is the single most useful tool I have for the game. The reason I ended up here today was to figure out what Bridge does and I have to say, WOW! Why I didn't just click the button before to figure out what it does is beyond me, but I was floored at how much more simple it makes things for me :-) Once again, Thank You for your continued work on this incredibly useful tool :-) Sincerely, PAX
