I'll probably install it when I start a new save in 0.25.
-
I was actually considering trying FAR, but I think I'm going to hold off for now.
-
OK, that's what I figured. I knew nosecones and the like were useless, I was just asking on the off chance that the mod had some code to cancel the drag of whatever was inside the fairing or something like that. Guess I'll just be using this for aesthetic reasons then.
-
Sorry if this has been asked a billion times before, but do the fairings actually reduce drag with stock aerodynamics? I'm guessing not, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
-
I landed on Dres, making this my first trip to a dwarf planet. "Like the Mun, only far away" is a fairly apt description.

You Will Not Go To Space Today - Post your fails here!

The largest spacecraft I've ever assembled in orbit... ...had a wobble issue and broke apart as soon as I fired up the main engines. I used one of the lander engines to deorbit what was left, but after separating the crew capsule, I remembered that I had left two kerbals in the science module. Fortunately, this was easily rectified as I was still early in the reentry. Primary mission objective failed, but all crew returned safely. And now there's a nice little debris field flying through my usual parking orbit. -
That moment when your asparagus-staged rocked keeps flipping over for seemingly no reason, only for you to discover that you forgot to turn symmetry back on when repositioning one of the boosters.
-
I am in the process of attempting the Jool 5 challenge and I broke my personal record for largest single payload into orbit. It weighs in at just over 400 tons after circularization. Now I just have to finish refueling it and attaching the bits with the kerbals.

Aha, thanks. The website changing it to a link when you quote was making it difficult to reverse-engineer. -

I was minding my own business, doing an EVA on Ike when suddenly the screen goes black. I quit the game, restarted, and came back to this: Bill and Bob are falling into Duna from 47,000km, Jeb and a whole bunch of science are gone, and I somehow got a flag on an escape trajectory out of the sun. I used the EVA packs to put Bill and Bob in a stable orbit and I'm going to send a rescue craft later. -
Manned, I have only been to Kerbin, Mun, Minmus, Gilly, Duna, Ike, and Vall (all have had at least one successful return). I have never sent anything at all to Moho, Dres, Tylo, Bop, Pol, or Eeloo.

I recently broke my personal record for fewest number of explosions in an SSTO flight. On approach. This thing is stable, but also very maneuverable. I've had my issues with these on previous attempts. A perfect landing! It even comes with a zero-zero ejection system just in case things do get hairy. And now time to install 0.23.
-
I went back with more RCS fuel so that Bill, Bob, and Jeb could get a couple more tries at their balancing act.
-
Low gravity is fun. I tried making a slightly larger totem pole, but Bill kept slipping off of Jeb's head every time I tried to set down the lander and I started running low on monopropellant.
-
I just got this: If anything, I feel like it would be harder to build a ship that requires docking to make it to orbit.
-
Did my first career mode Mun landing: And somehow Scienced the Mun's poles from the rim of the East Crater: Also, I learned that it's generally not a good idea to run out of EVA pack fuel when you're 5 km away from the lander.

Placement of decouplers - matter of life and death?

Does it start spinning before it explodes? I sometimes have a problem with asparagus-staged craft where some imperceptible twisting causes some off-axis thrust, eventually tearing the rocket apart. -
what was the first thing you landed on (not in the kerbin system)

Now that you mention it, my first landing outside Kerbin's SOI was also on the sun, back before I bought the full version. -
Scooty Puff Sr. maneuvering around Eve: Bob landing the Scooty Puff Jr. on Gilly: But Jeb had other ideas:
