  1. My Apollo-style mission to Minimus Bob... What are you doing?
  2. Yeah, I'm a little disappointed that Jeb, Bob and Bill get silver suits when they EVA but are in their orange suits in IVA. And Jeb hasn't been on my missions for a while now; he's on my space station and I haven't bothered to send up a ship to swap him out yet.
  3. I'd rather see a Rendezvous with Rama movie. They could ignore the sequels though.
  4. My latest one is name "Bill was flying!"
  5. The good news is that I landed at my first anomaly. The bad news is that I landed on the night side, didn't realize how much horizontal velocity I had and tore most of my landing gear off. Still counts though, right?
  6. Yeah, we're missing three landing gear but we're here. What I get for being impatient and landing in the dark.
  7. Not a fail, per se, but the embarrassing moment that you realize your engine is longer than your landing legs... Also, oops... Wait, I think we need that bit!
  8. Yeah, which is why I prefixed the suggestion the way I did. Unfortunately there is no way to modify a ship that has already been launched so there aren't many other options.
  9. Depending on how you feel about it, you can always edit your persistence file and refill your ship.
  10. Make sure your ship is balanced properly. Once you have your orbital stage set up in the VAB, turn on the center of gravity marker and put your RCS thrusters equidistant in front of and behind it. That will reduce "twisting" whenever you fire your thrusters. And Mechjeb is really inefficient with RCS on docking.
  11. No danger to us; it's almost 6 million km away at closest approach, but still interesting. The interesting thing is that this one seems to have a tiny moon of its own orbiting it. http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2013/30may_asteroidflyby/
  12. Tried to get my heavy lifter to work. Needs more struts...
  13. "Another thing that is a bad problem is if you're flying toward space and the parts start to fall off your space car in the wrong order. If that happens, it means you won't go to space today, or maybe ever." My first attempt at asparagus staging...
  14. Huh. Didn't know that. I was trying to figure out what was wrong with my design and when I figured out the correlation it was a big WTF? moment. OK, I guess I'll leave the X200 on the bottom for now. Thanks for the feedback.
  15. I'm playing around with a couple of designs and have found an odd overheating issue. Look at these two rockets. SNAFU a SNAFU b These two are identical except for the the lower stage. The "a" variant has a Rocomax Jumbo-64 on the top and and a Rocomax X200-32 on the bottom. With the "b" variation the two tanks are reversed. If I fly the "a" variant I can run the Mainsail engine at full throttle until the tank is empty with no problems. The overheat gauge appears but never passes the halfway mark. If I fly the "b" variant at full throttle the engine fully overheats and explodes before I can reach 2000 meters. Why does the overheating of the engine depend on which tank it happens to be attached to?
  16. Edit the first post in the thread and select "Go Advanced". There will be a dropdown that will let you change the prefix.
  17. Offsetting your docking ports for one...
  18. Do the Amarr know you found the Kerbol gate?
