Not by default but maybe you can edit the new parts .cfg file and give them a crew capacity (CrewCapacity = n and there must be some way to add a door)? I've not tried that. As for interior views? I've not tried that either. Getting complicated, but all of it should be possible if you need it.
-
Sounds fun! You may like to take a look at PartGen http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/25061-Part-generator-Version-2-X-release-open-beta . You can make custom structural parts (or fuel tanks full or empty) of any length from a selection of diameters, they appear to be less bendy than the stacked section solution, and of course you can increase the diameter which should help even more (and change the join strength and textures and... there's lots you can do)
-
Impressive ! That certainly is a lot of struts. My stock design is a bit smaller, which helps a lot with rigidity, though designing with some flexibility can cause problems it is I think the preferred route. The Mk I had a slight problem... Fixing that took a grand total of 8 additional struts. More info and a flight video - launch, iirc it is SSTO capable, certainly shows how flexible it is - can be found here if you're interested http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/22251-Showcase-SPACE-STATIONS!-Post-your-pictures-here?p=531483&viewfull=1#post531483

You could do worse than try MSI AfterBurner. It looks like it's only for MSI graphics cards but I understand it works with many others. It looks like a diagnostic/overclocking utility but there is a full video capture utility built in. The only issue I have using it with KSP is its inability to record the mouse pointer, apart from that it has been faultless and it's free. I think this is the most recent version http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/msi_afterburner_beta_download.html The second video is old but i should give you a general feel for the app.

I've seen this too, always after a quick load. So far I've been able to fix it by restarting KSP. -

That is a non-stock version of this http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/22251-Showcase-SPACE-STATIONS!-Post-your-pictures-here?p=531483&viewfull=1#post531483 and looking at it, it certainly would not fit in the new hanger! I can't really talk about... No. Wait... It's ok they don't know your address, yet. It's a SSTO space station, fuel depot, inter-planetary explorer, Kethane miner sort of thing. Though you should hear some of the ideas they have had for adding weapons. If you like it when it's finished I'll send you one. I mean that in a friendly way, not in a 'I'll send one to blot out the sun, suck your planet dry and recycle all organics into soylent pink.' Oh, no. They, on the other hand... I think that is exactly what they intend. -

I can live with the available height, for now. The available width is a different matter, hardly room to swing a Ker-Kat! I hope the fine person responsible for EditorExtensions can make the place a little more roomy. -
Mostly high points, only two low points so far: finding the VAB/SPH symmetry bug still exists and I had to manually patch Loly into the recruits list - can't play without him around these days. I had a ship which had inexplicably developed a habit for disassembly on the launch pad after a restart flight, under 21 it's now behaving itself, so far. A bug fixed perhaps. Matching all settings I did a small time trial with a 460 part ship. 21 looks about 10% faster loading into VAB and maybe 20% less lag (20 reached 5.7km in 2 minutes real time, 21 reached 6.7km in 2 minutes real time). Only one set of tests and mods etc could also be having some effect, etc, etc. The old ships I've tried so far have all worked, including a +2000 part monster. I'm not a big user of SAS/ASAS but did try out 6 reaction wheels on my large Cupola based space wheel, 12 RTGs and I was still running out of electricity when running with NERVAs into final orbit... That's a lot of power.
-
Thank you so much I can't have your babies, but maybe you can take some of mine? Pick any three. There is at least one symmetry problem in the stock game http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/37397-Symmetry-Problem ...and I've confirmed it is still a problem in 0.21.00!

List of working mods working/not working for 0.21.1
ecat replied to sidfu's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
I'm a bit stupid and forgot B9 includes several GameData directories. It was only those engines but since fixing the directories all is looking good <chuckle> I've been trying to post this reply for 20 minutes <sigh> But the really bad news: EditorExtensions appears not to work, I'm still investigating. Life without 'Vertical Snap' and 'Disable Surface Nodes' (whatever it's called) is not worth living -

B9 Neither SABRE engine works. When added to a ship in the VAB they appear to have the engines running, at launch there is no way to activate, switch modes, or throttle. -
Well, I reported the 3rd most simple case I could, complete with step by step video. http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/37397-Symmetry-Problem This bug is a game killer! If anyone has other examples of how best to replicate this bug, no mods and ideally a short video, then please post them.

How do I define air-hoggy? I define air-hoggy like this... http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/35743-200-kerbal-tons-to-LKO-worth-it?p=451799&viewfull=1#post451799 http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/35743-200-kerbal-tons-to-LKO-worth-it?p=452199&viewfull=1#post452199 http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/35743-200-kerbal-tons-to-LKO-worth-it?p=463563&viewfull=1#post463563 I define 'subtle design' like this... http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/33503-Show-off-your-B9-Designs!?p=501586&viewfull=1#post501586 (second craft) http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/33503-Show-off-your-B9-Designs!?p=508910&viewfull=1#post508910 All the above have about the same engine to intake air ratio. All were great fun to build and I learned so much on the way. I guess you can call me shameless. I think anyone with an idea for a dream ship, who stops and thinks 'but it will need one air intake more than is polite' or 'I can't do it because people will say it's air hoggy' - I was going to say that they are doing it wrong, but that would be unfair. It's your game, play it your way. That said, I designed the B9 Quindecim Cargo MkII d: Loly "Green Crayon" Edition (!), first craft second picture above, as a direct response to some who said a previous design looked too air hoggy, so maybe I'm not entirely cool with the conservative types.

SPACE STATIONS! Post your pictures here
ecat replied to tsunam1's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
My first space wheel, which means my second space station attempt. My first is here but no one liked it http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/40820-SSTO-Space-Station-Fuel-Depot-%28!%29-Quite-a-big-one-too-featuring-0-Jets Anyway, The Somewhat Insane Space Wheel All stock. Single launch. Makes real space ship noises. 32 Kerbal capable. Eight senior, eight standard and eight junior docking ports. Adequate fuel reserves if used as a filling station, about 12 jumbos worth. Twelve jumbos + 8 NERVAs makes for long range. 100km Kerban orbit capable. Mun orbit capable. Mun landing capable. Mun re-orbit. Fail About 100dv short on last attempt, a better launch would easily fix that, or going the correct way around Mun! Cons: All stock so could be better looking. High part count: 556 after launch but this reduces quickly as bits start dropping off are decoupled to around 400 in orbit. This could be reduced by 40 parts or so without too much trouble. Even using the eight Skipper engines, this ship will not break any acceleration records when full of fuel. The trip to orbit can best be described as interesting. Edit: Don't attempt the ascent profile shown in the picture, Turn Start should be around 10km. To Mun! This would be a great place to refuel the ship, if only we had remembered to bring the Kethane mod. It also allowed us to investigate some interesting Kerbal physics. The mod version may well be based on B9 and this time around we will remember the Kethane processing rig. Maybe some landing legs too. Craft file: Mods used MechJeb, just delete the controller for pure stock. 1 toggles solar panels. 9 toggles NERVAs (? iirc <shrug>) 0 toggles Skipper engines. http://www.i2net.me.uk/files/Games/KerbalSP/Ships/Stock-SISW/SS SW Mk II d.craft -
I think FTL drives are unlikely, FTL travel equally so. It's not just the energy required to accelerate the mass, it's also the energy/mass required to shield a vessel from the radiation experienced during the acceleration. On a brighter note, we know maybe 90% of all there is to know about the stuff we know about. However, we only know about 5% of the stuff that actually forms the fabric of the known universe, the remaining 95% remains dark. Which is the long way of saying: you never know. Still, space flight. As it stands we no more capable of navigating space than a man clutching a floating log is capable of navigating the oceans. And if our current technology - piddling around in a tin can with scarcely enough fuel to reach the next orbit - is the best there is then space flight, navigating space the way we can now navigate the oceans or the air, will always remain nothing but a dream. This is what I've learned from KSP.

. This was really just a prototype for some other project but ended up working so well I thought I'd share... Stock (apart from MechJeb, so sue me) SSTO Space Station / Orbital Fuel Depot. / Interplanetary Explorer (more on that later). Featuring EasyFly and 0% Jets - that's right, 0% Jets, 100% Rocket. EasyFly: If using MechJeb you get this thing in to orbit by following these instructions... 1) Ensure MechJeb is configured as shown in the launchpad image. 2) Engage the autopilot aka, wake up Loly. 3) Press Space. 4) Sit back and enjoy the flight. 5) Press 1 to open solar panels because every space station must have solar panels. Advanced EasyFly: If you wish to use MechJeb but desire a more interactive experience, one that that will also save you a little more fuel then... 1) Ensure MechJeb is configured as in the launchpad image. 2) Engage the autopilot. 3) Press Space. 4) Sit back and enjoy the flight. But don't get too comfortable, you have important work coming up. 5) When your altitude clicks over 36km, press 0 6) Sit back and enjoy the rest of the flight. 7) Press 1 to open solar panels because every space station must have solar panels. If you don't use MechJeb then, please, let me know how you got on. I'm a totally rubbish pilot which is why I leave MechJeb Loly at the controls. The image on the left shows the end of a flight made using EasyFly, enough fuel left to heat a can of beans. The image on the right shows the end of a flight made using Advanced EasyFly, there's now enough fuel left to heat two cans of beans! But ask yourself, do you really want to eat beans when wearing a space suit? Craft File: http://www.i2net.me.uk/files/Games/KerbalSP/Ships/Stock-SSTO-SS/Stock SSTO P SS Mk I.craft In this form the station, while quite primitive and lacking any sort of bling, is functional, flexible and jolly useful as more than just high velocity bean warmer, just. Still, I think we can do better... Question: Do boosters on an SSTO make it no longer an SSTO? Just in case the answer is yes, any SSTO purists reading this should stop now. Seriously. Beyond this point there be boosters! Big Boosters. With the addition of six atomic engines, courtesy of 3 docked tugs, and 17 big boosters, what could possibly go wrong? EasyFly: If using MechJeb you get this thing in to orbit by following these instructions... 1) Ensure MechJeb is configured as shown in the launchpad image. 2) Engage the autopilot aka, wake up Loly. 3) Press Space. 4) Sit back and enjoy the flight. Don't worry if engines mysteriously switch themselves off, this is most probably by design. 5) When your altitude clicks over 36km, press 0 6) Catch your breath, the next one can be tricky 7) When your altitude clicks over 66km, press 9. This is a twitchy point, 66km may be too soon if you start adding bling etc. 6) Sit back and worry as everything appears to be going pear shaped. 7) Press 1 to open solar panels because every space station must have solar panels. EasyFly will net you about 1010 units of fuel in 100km orbit. You can go to Mun on that, though you probably won't make orbit. But read on Advanced EasyFly will net you about 1650 units of fuel in 100km orbit. If there are any SSTO purists still reading at this point they are either part of the SSTO liberal sect or drunk, so... Lets break the rest of the rules, the other side have cookies, muhahahaha. The main engines are attached by docking ports making for easy reconfiguration or 4 additional ports if used as a station. Removal of the main engines - to be picked up and recycled later no doubt - gives us a DeltaV of 2040 ... How far can this little SSTO SS go on 2040 DeltaV ? Craft File: http://www.i2net.me.uk/files/Games/KerbalSP/Ships/Stock-SSTO-SS/Stock SSTO SS Boost Mk I.craft Loly Corp. thanks you for the time you spent reading this promotional information. Loly Corp. assures you they will say anything to keep you quiet make you feel happy.

Why is Mechjeb botching this landing?

And you use RCS before or after this happens? Hint: The correct answer is before. -
Why is Mechjeb botching this landing?
ecat replied to DangerDave's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I've just read this again get above the horizon? How and when did the pointy end of your ship get below the horizon? Ouch! Once you allow the pointy end to point down you're in trouble. -
#5 They pixelated the caveman's willy! Instant loss of 98 credibility points in the very first picture. Any site claiming some affiliation with science which censors human body parts is a joke site, simple. Maybe it's an American site. Doesn't matter: "Any site claiming some affiliation with science which censors human body parts is a joke site." Centaurs did not die out through lack of interspecies relationships. Legend and some documentaries you can watch today on the internet suggest some find Centaurs quite appealing. No. Centaurs did not die out. Centaurs never existed. -2 credibility points. Of course the point about Reproductive Isolation is probably valid even without the centaur reference so +2 credibility points. But it fails to mention the allure of celebrity (-1 point), wealth (-1 point), bribery (-1 point), advances in science and genetic engineering (-5 points). Most seriously it fails to mention.. the promiscuity of the human species makes total reproductive isolation unlikely (*), the internet makes it highly unlikely (-x! points). #4 Cannot continue while credibility score is negative. (*) I loved what Russell T Davies did with the Captain Jack character in TV series Dr Who. So much scifi has humans spreading love, the greatest and most unique gift the species has to offer, across an otherwise cold and heartless galaxy. Captain Jack, one of the first humans to explore the galaxy, and kind of immortal too, spread love at every possible opportunity but in a more tangible way than some other scifi would present.

A sweeping statement. Remember H1N1? iirc Both it and the Spanish flu of 1918 killed more young than old through overreaction of their immune systems, perhaps our longevity treatment will have the same effect?

Why is Mechjeb botching this landing?
ecat replied to DangerDave's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
So three are not quite enough. Can you post the craft file somewhere? And/or a video of the landing? You can try 4 RCS ports in the usual pattern. You can try 2 sets of 4, one set just above the other. You can try extending the nose of the ship, placing the RCS ports as far from the bottom of the ship as possible. You can also try adding an additional set of RCS ports near the bottom of the ship to provide some counter force - I think this would be the next thing I would try. Just remember, more RCS ports = more RCS fuel use, especially with MechJeb. Here I'm using one set of 4 near the bottom and two sets of 4 near the top to give MechJeb control of this 280t monster... from: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/33503-Show-off-your-B9-Designs%21?p=508910&viewfull=1#post508910 While my ship is much heavier it has two advantages over yours. The RCS ports are most effective when placed as far from the centre of mass as possible, think long leavers vs short leavers. My ship has both length and width. Can you post the craft file or at least a picture? -
Game? Nope, can't do singular. Imperium Gallactica II still comes out for a spin in skermish mode. WarZone 2100 now available as open source http://wz2100.net/ I always have a yearning for Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, iirc my Morrowind directory + mods runs to over 10GB! Finally, and possibly the best game you've never played: Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vampire:_The_Masquerade_%E2%80%93_Bloodlines Honourable mention must go to DreamFall: The Longest Journey, if only because just thinking about it can make me cry.

Here are few dolphins who would like to hear your opinion on their new mirror. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkzFZvInwFo So, it is believed that dolphins posses at least some level of self-awareness, enough to recognise themselves and pull funny faces for the lulz. And apes? Elephants? Whales? I think we're going to need a bigger mirror.

Excellent! Thank you.
