  1. Well, I'm going to just hijack this thread for my own purposes, hopefully trying to bring it back on topic. I do have a problem anytime I am trying to get into orbit. I do just fine making a stable orbit that is outside the influence of the atmosphere, but I always end up with a very elliptical orbit rather than a circular one. How would I go about making a much more eye pleasing orbit? For reference, I am starting my first maneuver at or near my Apoapsis due to the structure of my rocket. It really likes to be ass heavy when I lose all of my stages.
  2. I've found this issue before as well. It turned out that the few times it happens, one or new of my engines is not firing, or once I'm in the air, my intakes didn't open evenly. I've also seen that when returning to the hangar, I am no longer in symmetry mode, and any part I tweak is no longer mirrored.
  3. Terminal Velocity is simply the speed at which the force of the drag caused by wind resistance equals the amount of gravitational force being applied on any object. Basically, it is the fastest speed an unassisted object will fall. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terminal_velocity
  4. Ah, sounds good. I would very much like to create my own asteroid colony with tubes connecting everywhere, but the control of it would be a nightmare. Being able to add your own planets would be nice as well.
  5. Ha! This sounds like a challenge I can sink my teeth into. I'm definitely going to try this.
  6. Now you say gently, but does the thrust really matter when making a maneuver? I had thought that the more thrust, the faster you're going to get to your desired position? I'm very new to successful rocketry, but quite advanced at making things go boom.
  7. Similar to this, I am wondering if it would be possible to alter a planet's trajectory. I'm just thinking that with enough rockets and resources, it would be entirely possible to deorbit an entire planet. This is of course, assuming that the planets have their own trajectory that can be altered, rather than having a fixed orbit. I would love to see a Futurama-esque endeavour to move Minmus further from the sun in order to cool the planet.
