Mission reports from my own Space Program

I'm using Ironcross, although I'm aware it hasn't been updated in a while. The only glitch I've found so far is the CO2 scrubbers don't work when switched to another ship, but the Kerbals continue to breath O2 and produce CO2. But it doesn't kill them, so I'm not overly worried. I'm interested in the TAC life support, so I may use it for the Mun rocket! -

New entry. I decided to go with KW Rocketry now that the rockets are starting to get large! Link in the sig... -
And I read this just before I go to sleep... Great! Edit: reminds me of Apollo 18

Great looking planes!! I'm trying to do a space program all the way from first the rocket to the first futuristic reusable SSTO like yours above. It's actually quit slow considering the amount of time I get to play (still haven't reached a Kerbal Mun landing since 0.20!). So when I see threads like this it makes me itch to get cracking

Yeah, I've been looking forward to Duna for a while!! The dish is from Remotetech. Although, I have switched off the signal delay for the time being. I know it's realistic and all, but I find it more fun to do away with it. However, I do still like having to cater for signal paths and relays! -

Someone should make a jet ski mod! Edit: Not sure where that off-topic outburst came from?!

Fixed! Thanks for that! Yeah, I kinda regret using Roman numerals now!! -

Haha! It's nice to know that someone is enjoying this. OK, this last mission wraps up my 'Mercury' phase of it all. Although under the same project, the next step will be akin to the Gemini missions. There is no two-man pod for the stock game, and as tempting as it is to try out the FASA Gemini capsule, I have decided to carry on with the stock one-man pod. I'm kinda itching to get those Kerbals to the Mun now Link -

You are my hero. I am watching this thread with much eagerness -
You can see it using the VDS Hull Cam and such mods. I've done this from LKO. You can zoom right in and see the planets clearly. I'll post up a screen shot when I get to my computer later.

People still don't get it. The Probe Cores are the dominant life forms on Kerbin!! Has no one watched the Terminator films???

Just roll with it and accept your fate, man!

Testing SCIENCE! on a Kerbal (I had to get a graph in somewhere ). This Kerbal is called Lanmore, and he is my science boffin out of my team of six. Link to the Blog -
Indeed! It's almost like the machines are in control, and they are using Kerbals to test their vehicles before they send their own hardware up!

There's a few things you can do to gyros to stop gimbal lock. But nowadays, we use laser and fibre-optic gyros. So they have no moving parts at all now so gimbal lock is a thing if the past. Maybe Kerbals went straight to this?

Mission reports from my own Space Program

Right, I'm a bit torn of what to do here. So I used Procedural Fairings in the previous launches so that the capsule with its small RCS pack would sit flush on top of my launch vehicle. Now, I need a full service module as I approach the Gemini-type missions. This is because of longer duration space flight (batteries, solar panels (unless I decide to use the fuel-cell mod), oxygen tanks from Ironcross and additional propellant). During building the SM, I had an idea strike me. The aesthetics are very important to me, and I'm not a fan of all the mix of modules with their different designs and colours. But then I realised I could cram in everything I need, and then use the PF panels to cover it all up much like real life. I got to work and I'm very happy with my effort: So, the next thing to do is place this on top of my Launch-Vehicle. I played with PF again to give me a good stage adapter, which works beautifully. However, it all just looks so out of place on top of the stock rocket. So, I fully installed KW Rocketry (I last used this religiously 0.20 because I loved the look of the parts) and built a same-type rocket. Below are the results of KW vs Stock: Anyway, I just wanted to share this as I am perhaps a bit too pleased with the way I have used PF to make my SM. -
It's not that it's too small, it just not dense enough. The other guy mentioned Jupiter needs to be about 75 times more massive than it is to start fusion, which is right. Even so, Jupiter generates more heat from pressure than what the sun warms it, which is quite something! Reference to the comment about the Kerbol/Jool relationship- in our own system, the barycenter between the Sun and Jupiter is 40k miles above the surface of the Sun!! So no reason why Kerbol/Jool wouldn't be the same if N-body was used However, because of the rail system everything rotates at the centre of it's own mass. I, too, love these threads Hope this is all helping.

I am sure that brown dwarfs can be Jupiter-size?

Mission reports from my own Space Program
Akinesis replied to Akinesis's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Thank you! I wanted the smaller RCS tank to mimic the Mercury capsules more closely. I played around for ages to find a way to have a shroud that looked authentic, instead of the inevitably smaller one that would come with using the smaller RCS pack. Then it hit me that Procedural Fairings could sole this for me! As I've learned since, I did not have to have the base attached to the pod as well as the top of the booster. Now I have a lot of debris floating around due to the four panels blowing off during separation - d'oh!! There is a way to leave the panels attached, which I am now doing. But I have been working on some new methods which looks good (in my opinion!) and I am immensely pleased with, but means a change of tactic. I will post about it here once I have finished testing. In the meantime, there is another quick post on the next mission. Link in the sig. -
