  1. Oh my days. Folks, I cured it. It hit me like a lightening bolt. When I came home today my study was tidy. Which meant the wife had been in here cleaning. So I looked over at my joystick a few moments ago... The. Throttle. Was. Up. And around the 10% position, too. I couldn't believe it. With a shaky hand and sweat beading up on my brow, I moved over and nudged the damn thing back down. When I looked back at my Navball, the throttle was sat steadily at 0. I gingerly held down shift and the needle moved up smoothly, with the jumping-issue gone. I've just loaded the file I made on my laptop. Would you believe it - it works like a charm. All I will say is, if anyone has a gimp-of-the-forum award then sling it this way. Thank you for the fast replies, people!! Now pardon me while I go and cower in my bath tub for at least an hour.... or until I've chewed the skin off my knuckles.
  2. Firstly, usual thing of 'this might be in the wrong thread'. My KSP is not stock, but I cannot track a mod that might cause this issue. So it's not a report, just asking if anyone else has had this. I went away with work this week, so I installed KSP onto my laptop so I could cope with leaving my PC for a few days. I spent the free time I had creating a new Apollo-style lander for my upcoming Mun missions. I tested it, tweaked it and everything was dandy. When I got home (today), I transferred the craft file onto my PC and fired up KSP. I went to test the vehicle on the PC, but the throttle was stuck at 10%. If I throttled up, down or cut it completely, it would fight me and return to 10%. I turned MechJeb on, and it fought that too. I took the vessel back to the VAB and reloaded it. Same thing. Tried another craft. Uh-oh... same thing. Tried an existing craft already in orbit. Oh noes - same damn thing! Deleted the file out of my VAB save folder - guess what, it didn't cure it. Now, restarting my computer is the only way to *SOMETIMES* clear the fault. But I'm pretty sure the problem lies with the Mk2 Lander Cabin, for whatever reason. But I have no mod that directly links to that file. And I just re-installed that file, but it didn't cure the bug. And the problem has now transferred to all the other command vehicles. I've had this happen to me in 0.20, but I cannot remember how I cleared it. I've tried quick-loading and removing my most recent mods. Anyone else know of this problem? It makes the game unplayable. Mod wise, I'm not really using any same mod from the 0.20 version where I encountered the identical problem. It happened as soon as I transferred the file from my laptop to my PC. And, please, no 'this is why I play stock' comments. The only parts I have that are not stock is KAS, MapSat and CommSat. But none of these were fitted to the vehicle (the lander was made on my laptop, which is pure stock). Many thanks Edit: just tried a new game completely, and the problem exists within that, too Edit 2: I've removed all my mods making the game stock, and the problem still persists. Hmmmm.
  3. Yup, what the OP said. Having been a dedicated Eve Online player for the last six years, what a difference you folks are. Although, after Eve, I can't shake suspicion that KSP is just one huge en-masse troll against me.... So-much-so, I haven't undocked my pod from my Kerbin space station in weeks! Nah, you guys are great!
  4. I'm glad you thought so! It was actually fun to do, and I have done many more. So I will release them in the Blog when appropriate. I have put another entry in, and I have very nearly caught up with where I am in the campaign. However, I am away this week so it may go quiet until next weekend (depends if I can get internet!). Thanks for the comments so far, everyone!
  5. Having come from Eve Online and their forums, I still can't get use to this forum. I hardly ever see flaming here, and the trolling is very mild in comparison. It's wonderful, but I can't shake my suspicion Eve broke me!
  6. Yes, good point! If I see a transfer opportunity I may as well send a probe out
  7. Hey, many thanks! Any feedback is really appreciated! I've just posted the final 'Age of Satellites' entry. The Mun is next!!
  8. Thanks for all the responses, folks! There is a really diverse approach here (yes I know... sandbox!). I started playing in 0.20 and I didn't venture further than the Kerbin moons (last thing I did was land on Minmus). And then when I heard about the saves breaking I concentrated on building space shuttles. Along side that, I started designing a program to follow based on the Wiki 'Kampaign' -yes, those damn 'K's'- which I threw in a lot of additional elements from the real space race, taking bits of both America and Russian (I'm going on the basis that Kerbin is a united planet). Reason for it is because I didn't want to do too much too quickly and then get bored, which I see posted form time-to-time - even on this thread. I went one step further and I now document each mission with notes (mainly events) which I've then recently started typing up in a blog for my own archive, if nothing else. I've gone to town with it, I know. But I am having a ball with the controlled slow-pace and no quick-saves. I realised today that I haven't been paying attention to my rocket design enough (way too overpowered!!), so I've spent some time doing some decent testing and adjusting. It's bugging me at the moment because there's some stuff I've overlooked which almost makes me want to start again, which is why I'm interested in what other people do so I can absorb any extra ideas. That's a good point on the launch windows. That's why probes are launched when they are, because it could be a while before the opportunity comes back around! More thinking to do... lol And I know it, probably, all won't matter once career mode is here. I'd be interested in looking at your program, Eussorus (if you don't mind sharing). I'll post mine up on my Blog once I have progressed it a little more. Thanks for the responses.
  9. I've been posting in the Mission Reports about my progress, but thought this particular question might be better suited here. Even if you don't follow a campaign, your thoughts would still be appreciated. I am doing my own campaign based on the one found on the KSP Wiki, but I have also bloated it out with additional elements from the real space race. As I have been following the Wiki format, everything is done in stages so far. Now I am in a place where I need to make a decision, as the real space-race at this point started jumping about a bit. For instance, the Venera missions began while the Lunar probes were still being sent out. And then there was the Mars probes too, while Mercury and then Gemini were under way. My question is simple, because I can't make a decision and I'm just curious as to what others do: Would/do you follow a 'block' campaign like the Wiki and focus on one particular thing at a time, or is the jumping about between programs your method?
  10. Great stuff I've taken a slight turn and done a piece on the first launcher system. Not sure if this is of any interest of not, but it was a bit of fun to do. There is also a new progression post on the 'Age of Satellites' campaign. Edit: I'm actually at crossroads on what to do with regards to the campaign. I've used both the real space-race and the Wiki KSP campaign and formed my own. So far, I have been doing things in stages as done in the Wiki, but the real space-race was a lot more muddled. For instance, there was a the Venera missions beginning in the middle of the Lunar's and Vostoks, and Mercury and Gemini's were happening while probes were put on Mars. I can't decide what to do - do it in stages like the Wiki campaigns, or jump about like the real space race. What do other people do?
  11. I've started posting my 'Age of Satellites' campaign. Let me know what you think!
  12. I looked at the OP's link yesterday, and again today. I cannot believe how small Kerbin is to Earth. I knew it was smaller... but THAT small! Great stuff!
  13. Thanks for liking it I'm not a press writer, so any similarities are by accident! I've fired a couple more posts in. I have one more mission to report and then I have finished the 'Age of Rocketry' campaign. In the game, I'm actually not far from finishing 'Age of Satellites', so I have a lot of posts to catch up on!! It should be a little more interesting after the rocketry as I have made some 'photo's' that I'm quite pleased with.
  14. I had to work hard to hold in the Lol's as I lay here next to my sleeping wife! I love this picture!
  15. It was always 100km for me in 0.20. But at the moment I'm doing a program similar to the campaign on the Wiki, and I've started doing 69km for satellites to help reduce space debris. The satellites own thrusters push it above 70km after that
  16. Haha! I've thought about working everything out with a paper and pen(cil and rubber). Might even try it at some point. But for now, I'm happy winging-it! I have started suing Redux again as the rockets get bigger, but for these initial launches I didn't really bother. Well, not until my R-4 mission surprise, anyway! I've fired in a couple more entries. I'm well into the program now, so I can catch up with the entries pretty quickly. But I don't want to flood it to start off with.
  17. Hi folks, After 0.21 broke saves, I took the opportunity to construct a space program from scratch. It's a Blog from a journalists point of view. It's just a bit of fun! I am posting every couple of days or so. The first post contains some information about what I'm doing. Hope you enjoy Link: http://ksp-missionreports.blogspot.co.uk/ Edit: Update to this post. I have not fully transferred my Space Program over to 0.22 yet. I'm waiting to get use to things and for further possible updates.
  18. ...what would you do or focus on? And let's pretend there is no budget, but you are limited by today's accessible technology. For me, I would love to drop a balloon in Jupiters atmosphere that sends back HD pictures. I just have a burning desire to float above those cloud formations I think they would make spectacular pictures!
  19. Although it was 14 years before I appeared on the planet, I'm just glad that media accessibility has made it so easy to see video's and read text today. Sure, it would have been amazing to watch it for the first time, but we can relive so much of it today in a way that was impossible at the time. I follow the Voyager's progress, of which I am super excited to be witnessing. And I got up early to watch Curiosity land. I'm also super excited about Horizons!! There's just so much to look forward to It's just a shame that there was an apparent slump in space exploration, but that definately looks to be changing now. And I fear I may have wondered off topic...
  20. Trivia: If you placed two grains of sand in a vast cathedral, that cathedral would be more dense with sand than the universe is with stars Joke: Why can't you trust atoms? Because they make up everything!!
