What would happen if Kerbal Space Program was sold to EA?
Xorth Tanovar replied to pauldbk99's topic in Forum Games!
OMG, I just mentally heard his voice "Here's a guy that thinks he's going to the Mun." -
The old forums before the big crash?

Make a wish... and have it horribly corrupted!
Xorth Tanovar replied to vexx32's topic in Forum Games!
You get KSP 64-bit; but your processor reverts to 16-bit 8MHz. I wish for chocolate. -

Barbeque sauce. Will we ever see 128-bit KSP? -
...but you'll never be able to take off the gear without a full Decon setup. ...case you're wondering, it's a VX-series nerve agent.

Possibly. What's the next question? -
Remember HomeWorld 2? Its getting a hd remake soon!
Xorth Tanovar replied to TheScareCake!'s topic in The Lounge
Deciding whether or not to pre-order....thought the model is nice, I don't know if I have the room for it on my desk. Still, I'm also waiting for this: http://blackbirdinteractive.com/ ; new game based on the Homeworld series. Was originally going to be a totally independent project, but this provided a rich storyline for a prequel. -
Full speed? No. You'd want a reduction drive, either belt or gear-driven. Motorcycle engine? Yes. Plenty of Kawasaki 440's were used for just that, they make excellent light aircraft engines. Hell, even VW engines (or more accurately, half-VW engines, Google it!). Better yet, look for constant-duty agricultural engines (SOLO 210's are perfect for this, the original ParaPlanes had these as standard, 2 18-hp engines set on a counter-rotating hub with reduction).

Driving licence age limit vs pilot license age limit
Xorth Tanovar replied to Pawelk198604's topic in The Lounge
License, no; but you need to be aware of FAR 103 regulations. Same as my PPC. Still, 10 hours' instruction here and you're free as a bird.... what is it like in Poland regarding Ultralight/Microlight aircraft? -
KSP is intended for which ages of player?
Xorth Tanovar replied to Sirine's topic in KSP1 Discussion
This. Wholeheartedly. -
Are you a WH40k fan by any chance? The title reminded me of Graham McNeill's "A Thousand Sons" novel. Imagine Magus returning from the Eye of Terror, with his first stop the Kerbol system. Though orbital bombardment isn't quite his style...

[Music] - Classic-Electronic...but what to classify it as?
Xorth Tanovar replied to Jatwaa's topic in The Lounge
Like it. Somewhere between Jean Michel Jarre and VNV Nation. "Minimalist Electronic", perhaps? -
Two guys walk into a bar. The third one ducks...

yep, that's me. You'll find me flying around in warmer weather, usually around the Lehigh Valley (Sellersville, Quakertown, Braden and Flying-M Airparks).

Try 30hp like me!

Jeb HORRIFIED after 3 hours of sitting still

I saw that contraption and immediately conjured up a memory of the Space:1999 episode "The Infernal Machine"! -
For Roleplayers: How do you dispose of the LV-N engines?
Xorth Tanovar replied to Markus Reese's topic in KSP1 Discussion
It all depends if "Contingency Plan Exodus" is able to be implemented. -
All I get when clicking on the video link is YouTube's "this video is private"... A bit of news, the original Homeworld games are getting a major facelift by Gearbox software: http://kotaku.com/homeworld-games-getting-hd-remakes-861433053 And in an independent project, Blackbird Interactive is coming out with a prequel MMO-style game: http://blackbirdinteractive.com/

How would you design a satellite to last 5 billion years?
Xorth Tanovar replied to nhnifong's topic in Science & Spaceflight
No Lunar storage, no solar system ejection needed. Use Pluto as the data repository. Far enough out where where our sun's death would most likely not have a big effect. No hazard-ridden cometary orbit that could collide with an inner planet or graze the sun. Given it's distance, it would probably be colder than hell, thus slowing any chemical-based decay of recording medium. Bigger than any man-made satellite, so it's easier to spot. Seed it with the oddball radioisotope or even paint it hot pink to attract attention. -
KSP committed to multiplayer career and sandbox modes
Xorth Tanovar replied to blizzy78's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Multiplayer....neat idea, but best implementation would be to ensure it can take advantage of multicore systems. I've got this wonderful little server with 8 cores (OK, dual quad-Xeons), Mirrored RAID drives for redundancy, and 32GB RAM. Would be a beast if say 8 players joined in a persistent world if only 1 core were in use. Perhaps the number of players could be influenced by the amount of core processors available....using the above specs as example, 7 players max each with his/her own dedicated core for any physics modeling, and one core dedicated to sync and inter-process comms. -
