Water flowing on Mars surface? - article in "Nature"
KASASpace replied to czokletmuss's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Or perhaps it's not water, maybe petrol? Anything, really. But the thing is, a human would need a hardy suit for that. You just can't have those fragile suits like Apollo, no sirree. So, maybe a probe, or perhaps a material scan from a distance, to figure out what it is? And how about robotic arms so probes can take surface samples, you know in KSP, and then you wouldn't NEED kerbals for that. But moving science around you would still need them...... -
Well, for one thing, NASA has no money, they're broke. They only have enough for software and planning. Not enough for hardware. Just wait til SpaceX starts doing cool stuff.

We crashed we burned we reloaded we reset we rebuilt and most importantly had fun doing it. somehow.

Currently stranded I mean uh, having technical difficulties on the Mun from his engine. He is currently working on it and is en route now.

wow, that sucks. Luckily, I have not as of yet witnessed such a brutal attack on any of my craft. However, we are always on alert of a Deep Space Kraken and have had numerous unidentifiable sightings of large objects not too far in the distance.......

Soviet-style Mün Mission (with ADDENDUM)
KASASpace replied to Brotoro's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
My country (USK-United States of Kerbafrica) is completely devoted space ad atmospheric endeavors. We have been to the Mun before, but could you at elast stop calling us the KSA, it's KASA, JEEZ! We don't cluster that ridiculously either. Now, I don't mean to be rude, BUT THAT ROCKET WAS AWESOME! -
What will be the first thing you will do in 0.23?
KASASpace replied to astropapi1's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Utilize the hidden blessing in the tweakables that will help get better payloads before asparagus can be used. I won't tell anyone unless I start a series. And I also hope that some new options will be available in the action groups. So, I would get more payload into orbit, and also less back home onto Kerbin, due to EVA transfer. YAY! -
I would like a system of resources that *could be used, but for long term missions. Missions that you launch to the Mun to collect fuel to go to Jool or Gas-planet 2, like just big ships and schtuff. Oxium or whatever sounds cool, and maybe even a fuel cell to make water and electricity. Now, resources should be only if you want to use it. You could perhaps buy fuel, load it into a fuel tank, and then take the ship over to Duna. Or, if you want to go Jool, build a ship usig higher Isp engines. Thus LH2 comes around. This can be collected from a hydroscoop and a separator combined on one ship. ETC

How would you improve the Shuttle design?
KASASpace replied to Epic DaVinci's topic in Science & Spaceflight
You could still do that easily by adding a seperatable booster segment on the initial launcher that would separate and under automation could fly back to the space center or a runway for refurbishment. Don't have to wait a few days and get a head start on refurbishments. -
How would you improve the Shuttle design?
KASASpace replied to Epic DaVinci's topic in Science & Spaceflight
They only wanted wings for cross-range capability, so that way if they reenter over the ocean they could "glide" to a runway and land on it. -
How would you improve the Shuttle design?
KASASpace replied to Epic DaVinci's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Well, how much D-v did the OMS pods actually give? OH YEAH, less than half a kilometer a second! YAY! So did you calculate that, my friend? -

LV-909 produces no electricity?
KASASpace replied to Hakkonen's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Well, I consider the LV-909 an upper stage engine, not requiring power generation for tht would be too heavy, however, in my opinion I consider the RL-10 the IRL counterpart, and it weighs a lot less than half of a ton, so, who knows? -
Heavy Lifter Construction
KASASpace replied to Cordeos's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Dude, just get 2 orange tanks on top of each other, than use the same design for the core for the asparagus boosters. Attatch struts laterally in straight lines. NO DIAGONAL -
One Kerbal One battle Dozens of tanks Which Kerbal will it be? JEB!
-
Well, actually, asparagus tech already exists. Space shuttle ET fuel lines into Orbiter. Worked for 30 years, so maybe on asparagus rockets? But hey, you wouldn't NEED aspargus if you could add a vertical track that accelerated the rockets up the first few 100 meters going an extra few hundred meters a second. That would be cheaper and more practical.

How would you improve the Shuttle design?
KASASpace replied to Epic DaVinci's topic in Science & Spaceflight
I would replace as much metal supports with composites as soon as possible. Use composite tanks on the ET, and make more reliable systems. Instead of that tile system, I would use a sector style heat shield setup. Also add LH2 tank onto orbiter and O2 tank for use on the RL-10s to replace OMS engines. -
How far you can get a kerbal with 10 parts?
KASASpace replied to Jaleco's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Wait, 10 parts final or 10 part total? As in 10 parts is what makes it there from LKO, or into LKO and then onwards? -
New gamemode
KASASpace replied to mr_ducktape_man's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Umm, did you read the plan for KSP? The yalready said that they wanted it to be "tycoon style" -
Secret planetary/interplanetary missions
KASASpace replied to Unfawkable's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Umm, whose to say space is devoid. Sure on the small scale of one star system, but that is biased to think about our way of life. So, maybe methane breathing creatures out there that combust methane in their systems because what they eat has oxygen. Say for ever 100 million stars there is one with intelligent life, do you know how MANY STARS THERE ARE!
