  1. To be fair they never said if they were applying prograde or retrograde thrust, and it's sort of an unwritten rule in the Star Trek universe that everything must be done in the most energy inefficient way possible. You know, like assembling a cup of tea, cup included, out of raw energy, instead of just sticking a cup of water next to the reactor core to heat up. The latter would be the Kerbal way.
  2. Hooboy. That and its corollary -- ships which fall out of orbit straight down. Even if they had zeroed out their orbital velocity first (which they never do) the planet is still rotating. The new Doctor Who is infamous for this. TARDIS turns off its anti-grav and immediately plummets straight down at high velocity. Aye. This.
  3. In my spaceship of the imagination? Sorry, couldn't resist. Imgur.
  4. OK, you are intentionally failing to hear what everybody is telling you. So I'll leave you with these final two thoughts, and then I'm done with you. 1) Collecting together a group of mods does not make you a creator of a mod. It makes you a curator. 2) Like Wanderfound said, Wheaton's Law: Don't be a ..... You seem intent on violating it.
  5. The legal consequences are quite clear -- you can be sued, although being banned from the forums, Curse, and Kerbal Stuff, would be the likely first step. Where the licenses for any given mod do not allow redistribution, you would be infringing on that creator's intellectual property. It's the same complaint people have about I F* Love Science, and any of dozens of other sites which use other people's work without permission or compensation. A simple acknowledgement isn't even enough if the licensing does not allow it. And saying that creators can always opt-out isn't good enough either. They must be allowed to opt-in. In other words, you must get explicit permission from each creator whose work you plan to use. You may not like it, but it is the current state of the law in the U.S., and many other countries. It's also common decency to allow creators control of their own work.
  6. Blizzy has a great in-game docking tutorial mod.
  7. I'm not quite as myopic as you it seems, nor am I playing at a high resolution, but it was a glorious day indeed when I discovered Enhanced Navball had added the ability to scale, and move, the navball.
  8. Yeah, it can mean different things in different shops, but it's always post-development for any given release. I think the Wiki page even mentions that. But pictures!
  9. Thank you Majiir, SirCmpwn, and ferram! Kerbal Stuff is exactly what I had hoped Spaceport 2.0 would have been, if it hadn't been aborted.
  10. Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this, but lately I've been having an issue where embeds (imgur albums, youtube videos) aren't displaying here on the forums. It doesn't always happen, but it does seem to be consistent for individual posts. Kind of a low priority, but annoying, issue.
  11. You left off more realistic jet and rocket engine performance; i.e. correct ISP model, consistent use of actual g0, more realistic fuels, etc.
  12. I love the Fine Print mod, but some of those contracts should pay out 1000 times more than they do considering how much work they are. Kashua's right that a bielliptic transfer will save you buckets of delta-v, at the expense of a whole lot of time. This video is a really good introduction on using gravity assists. The effects can be nonintuitive. If you're lucky enough to make your Jool transit at the right time, and really really patient fiddling with the maneuver nodes, or we had better tools in-game, you could nail both the kerbolar APe and LAN from all the way out in the Joolian system, then just bring your apoapsis down. Otherwise, you'll need most of that delta-v you saved just fiddling around getting the osculating elements right.
  13. I see what I think should be your thread, but it says I do not have permission to view the page. In my experience, it's exceedingly rare for a thread to get deleted, but glitches and mistakes do happen. Maybe Rowsdower or one of the moderators can help? http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/91763-Mod-idea-Simplified-map-view
  14. I'd say Spacewar back in 1962 counts as the first sim game since it employed single-body gravity. In fact, you might say Spacewar is KSP's great-great grandfather, followed by Lunar Lander in 1969.
  15. Yes, this. Exactly. I think the rapid growth of KSP is evidence that people respond to games that allow them to experience glamorous, yet otherwise inordinately difficult, activities like spaceflight in fun ways. I think the game, and that experience, can be improved by enhancing the realism aspects in a small handful of key areas, and a couple of incredibly minor ones, without sacrificing fun. Coincidentally it improves the educational value of KSP as well -- independent of anything Teachergaming does with KerbalEdu. Anyway, I've basically said the exact same thing multiple times now across both of the recent threads on this topic, so I'll just go back to lurking.
  16. Well, I try to be charitable in my interpretation of the devs' intentions, since it's what they've said their goal is. Plus there does seem to be a large portion of the community who want more explosions, less complexity. And that's fine. Like you said, tastes differ. Aye. Like I said above, and so many times elsewhere, what HarvesteR and Squad have accomplished is magical genius IMHO. They have made orbital mechanics *fun*, and in such a way that people can't help but learn something. That's truly special. It would take so little to extend that magic.
  17. I'm against a full sized solar system too, but slightly larger would be nice. Otherwise I totally agree. I'd also like to see axial tilt, but it pales next to my desire for realistic aerodynamics, reeentry heating, and more realistic engine performance.
  18. Hell yeah! I'd be up for that. We'd need to get Giorgio Moroder to do the music, and Tim Rice to do the lyrics. I want Brian May as Jeb, Dennis DeYoung as Bill, and Justin Hayward as Bob. It needs Tim Curry too and Phil Collins too, but I'm not sure in which roles.
