  1. It's called climate change now, get with the program Of course it's a hoax. It's seized on by politicians because it gives them yet another excuse to tax us and by watermelons ( green on the outside, red on the inside ) because they realise that the only way to sell socialism after it's history of economic failure and genocide is to claim that if there isn't economic central planning and wealth redistribution the planet will explode.
  2. I enjoyed Orbiter for years, I'm pretty sure since the 2005 version. I did reinstall it recently but it didn't last very long before I deleted it. I have found I prefer building to flying and you can't build anything in Orbiter, at least not easily.
  3. Search for "Micro-hybrid" and all will be revealed
  4. Dark chocolate with chilli is my favourite...
  5. Living things aren't toys for children to play with. And I'm speaking here as someone who hunts animals for meat. Back to rockets, it's surprising how much fun you can have with a humble 'C' motor. I'm going to build a liquid fuel engine one day, but I doubt I'll ever be able to make one light enough to fly.
  6. Nope, you can get bigger motors than that :- http://www.ukra.org.uk/legal
  7. Brand : Says Advent on the case Processor Type : Says Intel Core 2 Duo on a sticker on the case GPU : Geforce thing, 9500 something or other RAM : Two of them Cooling air : Whatever can get past all the dust and cat and dog hairs Age : Older than some of you probably Storage : Two hard drives set up with a unique dual boot Linux\Windows system. I swap the cables over according to which operating system I want Runs KSP really well with the kind of parts counts I typically use.
  8. Or if it's really late in igniting it will fire up as the rocket is on it's way back down, scream almost vertically towards a 5-a-side football pitch and explode a few feet above the players heads, causing them to dive to the ground in terror. This is the time to pack up and expeditiously vacate your launch site, but that is difficult to do while crippled with laughter...
  9. It seems to me like something out of a Terry Pratchett book. This is good of course
  10. Sid

    Blake's 7!!!!!!!

I watched Blakes 7 when it was shown on TV, the first time around. Even for the time the special effects were lousy, I remember the talking computer ( Oric, Orac ? ) looking like a milk bottle crate filled with Christmas tree lights
  11. Red Rover: Inside the Story of Robotic Space Exploration, from Genesis to the Mars Rover Curiosity by Roger Wiens Ambassadors from Earth: Pioneering Explorations with Unmanned Spacecraft by Jay Gallantine Two really good books on unmanned exploration from my collection.
  12. It's a good movie. The book is even better. BUT - both the book and the film both contain a lot of inaccuracies, some of them pretty fundamental to the story they are trying to tell.
  13. Stick with your gliders. Flying GA aircraft is very expensive and very, very boring. I spent a lot of money finding that out.
  14. Very good film. The book is good too - I found a paperback copy a few years ago in a charity bookstore, it was written in 1964.
  15. Remember those 80's computer game magazines which came with Basic listings ? you had to pages and pages of text into your crappy 8 bit micro and if you so much as got a comma in the wrong place all your effort was wasted. And even when you were successful the resulting 'game' always turned out to be rubbish...
