That wouldn't work forever though, advances in Technology and Aerodynamic construction would eventually cause a older plane's airframe to be really outdated, and there isnt much you can do about that.

For me personally I use 1 Oscar-b Fuel tank with 2 radial ant engines and docking ports on both sides for my Space based Torpedo's. My Kerbin Ground attack Torpedos are basically a stack of probe-sized decouplers and sepratrons stacked ontop of eachother.

There is an RCS balancing Mod on the forums a few days ago that shows where to place your rcs ports and if/what direction you will rotate while firing I cant remember the name though
