The Longtail. 6 Kerbals to 100x100 SSTO.
littlebattler replied to littlebattler's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Yeah, B9 has parts better suited for heavy SSTOs. I do use B9 ships for personal use but the TinyBuilders brand only makes stock crafts -
XF-DODO: The Ugliest SSTO in the fleet.

Ugly? Are you out of your mind? This is beautiful! It's possible that it'll be mauled by FAR but otherwise it's an amazing concept. And I pity the poor kerbal who is stuck in the pilot seat till the end of time. -
The Longtail. 6 Kerbals to 100x100 SSTO.

I guess I got complacent by using FAR . I went for highest TWR while carrying twin NERVAs, which explains the lack of fuel and wings. On the other hand, my trial runs were mostly imperfect (losing altitude at around 15km because of stall) and the plane still manages to get to orbit, so I don't think fuel is a problem. I think an open deck version might work even better, but comfort is important -
Why Do Things Just FALL APART In This Game?

But a jungle of struts is better than rivets anyways. -
Modular Surface Base. Your home away from home.

Looks cozy. I wonder if assembling them using blimps and winches would be hard. -
Perhaps Sir Would Care For A VTOL?

... R-Type boy if this thing does not come with the force pod I will do horrible horrible things to your farm. (just kidding awesome work) -
Not that 10 year olds can't play the game, as evidenced by a certain teacher whose students do play it. I'd say it's more of a personality thing rather than age or maturity. I for one still enjoy playing shooters and Kirby games, I just happen to like space. To assume that anyone, or indeed most people below 13 has not enough patience to play the game is rather silly, they might just not be interested in space or (gasp) explosions.

Resources: How Where and What?
littlebattler replied to Beeburgers's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I want to see resources for all basic parts obtainable on Kerbin as otherwise it won't make any sense. -
SSTOs! Post your pictures here~

The Longtail 6 Kerbals to 100x100 orbit, plenty of gas left if you decide on a lower parking orbit. No intake spamming, just high TWR with the jets (1.3) to bruteforce its way as high and fast as possible in the atmosphere, relying only on the NERVAs' efficiency to do the rest. Some piloting skills required, as this thing's operational ceiling while on jets is somewhat on the low side (25k if you still want to be able to pitch up before the rocket switch), but the good thing is that you only need 1500m/s before the switch. After activating rockets, immediately pull up to a 45 degree angle and just stay there until you reach your desired apoapsis. 100x100 is the most I'd recommend but if you put more intakes on it it should be able to go higher. Oh btw, if you put it to a spin, don't open the chutes and expect it to save your kerbals. Those are for landing assists, not emergency. It WILL break the ship if it's spinning. -
Because Rune's 7 kerbal minibus is still more awesome than this. Ignore the Kerbal Engineer on those pictures, it's been taken off. New revolutionary use for otherwise ''useless'' action groups
littlebattler replied to ThatDebri's topic in KSP1 Discussion
solar panel in the lights = them breaking when I'm trying to land (I use the lights to approximate the distance to the ground. Anyways, I usually make it so that for my SSTOs the action group for the jets is combined with the one to toggle the intakes. I do the initial start with the stage button. -
Or, you know, in a shocking twist, have the ring be a solid disc. I know it does not make sense, but hey.

Star Wars isn't sci-fi anyways. It's actually a fantasy genre set in a futuristic setting. Interesting. This reminds me of the Gundam series, where battles are limited to visual range because of magical pixie dust minovsky particles blocking radar and targetting systems. And still, they have more realistic space battles despite (or maybe because) of using humanoid robots instead of fighter planes.

The ridiculousness of this contraption knows no bounds. Now add passenger seats!

stock missiles will likely to do loops and fly out of control unless you leave your plane to control them. But then your plane will lithobrake.

It is probable that it was meant for the south east asian market, which have somewhat less buying power compared to american consumers. I do know that microsoft office is sold for less in that region.
