Crashing on the mun!
TheHockeyPlayer replied to Joben's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Honestly, if you're a newbie, it'd be best to land on Minmus, especially if you have trouble with landing. If you wanna do that before the Mun, watch this: If you really are hard set on getting to the Mun, then watch this: Scott Manley is a great help; he was the one who taught me how to play the game, in fact. Whenever I need help in Kerbal Space Program, I often times turn to him. -
Every time I test a design for a ship, there's a facepalm moment. Me: "Alright, launch in 3, 2, 1... Wait, what happened?! The ship doesn't have any electric charge After adding some RTGs: "Ready! Aaaand launch!" The ship starts flipping out of control After re-aligning all the parts: "Finally, this should do it. Launch!" After getting into space, the ship doesn't have enough fuel to travel Me:

I think I've been playing too much KSP - It's in my dreams
TheHockeyPlayer replied to Agent86's topic in KSP1 Discussion
No wonder she cried. It is indeed a horrifying experience. -
If you're talking about a possible 0.21.2 update, then your craft files (your ships) will most likely not be erased. If you're talking about an update like 0.22 or 0.23, then it depends upon what the developers say. The only reason 0.21 destroyed ships and forced a new game was because Squad introduced a new feature that could only be implemented if it broke saves. For mods, you will always keep them, no matter what update you go through. The only problem is, they may not work after a new update, because of some new coding that they won't comply with. In that situation, you just have to wait for the mod developer to release an updated version and replace the old mod with that.

Welcome to the Forums. Glad to see you're enjoying the game.
-
I'm surprised by how many teens there are. I would expect more adults to play this game, given the fact that it's all about physics, space, and things that only someone with a college degree could understand; although, granted, I am a teen and have not yet gone to college.

I chose 'green' because.. Well, they are indeed very green.
-
Oh my good nelly.. That looks.. Amazing. I would pay you, but I don't have any money. Thanks a million, man! You should make a tutorial on how you make flags. Like I mentioned before, I would gladly help with making them, but I don't know very well how.
-
I would like to formally request a flag, if that would be okay. Here's what I had in mind: I would like, please, for a flag that would have the words "HockeyTech" printed across the bottom of the flag. Over the letters, I was hoping for the planet Kerbin to be printed, but with the oceans being one shade of blue and the land being a shade of white. Across Kerbin, I would like for a hockey stick. If you don't mind, I would like the hockey stick to be outlined; just the shape of the stick with a line or two across the top (the handle) and a few more on the bottom (the blade). Surrounding everything, I would sorta like for a few stars printed here and there. And lastly, I would like for the backround to be the same color as the planet's oceans. If someone could create this flag, it would make my day. I apologize if I sound greedy or rude with how my words came out, I'm not trying to be. Thanks in advance. THP P.S. If someone could show me how you guys create the flags, I would be happy to help out with making them. I've never really learned how to make flags, and I've been meaning to learn ever since 0.20 came out. Thanks again.

[1.3.0] Kerbal Engineer Redux 1.1.3.0 (2017-05-28)
TheHockeyPlayer replied to cybutek's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I think I may have found a bug. Whenever I hit the Rendezvous button, then select the object I want to get to, the Engineer menu minimizes itself so that there's only a gray line where the menu was. I cannot revert the action; therefore, the only way to open up the displays again is to load a quicksave. -
Why Can't I Get This Into Space?
TheHockeyPlayer replied to TheHockeyPlayer's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Thanks for your help, everyone. I decided to just scrap the design and start over. -
I did the same thing. I got rid of MechJeb and picked up Kerbal Engineer.
-
I used to use MechJeb, but I stopped because I realized that it was sucking all the fun out of the game. When I got it, I kind of used it to learn how to play the game. As I learned from it, I stopped using some of it's functions, until I finally got rid of it.

The "You know you're playing a lot of KSP when..." thread
TheHockeyPlayer replied to Phenom Anon X's topic in KSP1 Discussion
When you start tossing and turning in bed because your mind is filled with the thought of building an awesome space station. -
I agree, it's looking fabulous. I'm real happy with what Squad has done to everything.

How did you learn how to rendezvous and dock?
TheHockeyPlayer replied to Fox Arcana's topic in KSP1 Discussion
In all honesty, I learned to dock and rendezvous from Scott Manley (that man's a genius!). When I began to do it, I let MechJeb do all the hard work. Eventually, I learned from MechJeb and started to do the rendezvous manually, then the docking. Since then I've been doing everything manually, with MechJeb no where to be found. -
Okay, someone please take a look at this and tell me what you think of it: http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/902129094390777386/B79263005A11D0F99478807B061DB6D36DBA59BC/ I'm completely blown away that I cannot get this hunk of junk into space, mostly because I'm using asparagus staging which is not working whatsoever. In 0.20 I could get an entire space station into orbit with this staging design, but now I can hardly get past a 20km sub-orbit! When I was launching the vehicle, I noticed that fuel was consumed at double the rate. Could this be a bug? Is it possible to get around it? If so, how?

Say it here if .21 works perfectly for you
TheHockeyPlayer replied to stupid_chris's topic in KSP1 Discussion
0.21 is working out just as I'd hoped; everything is going very well. I'm a bit disappointed that some of my mods don't work, but I was able to salvage a few. All in all, I'm doing well on my end with the update. -
I suppose I will be the first one to post a picture. As soon as I got the update, I began my grand mission of flying to all planets by putting Jeb on to the new Mun: http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/901002374363731096/FEB8CD257AFFFE07053D6EF081481FA04AAFB55F/ Very good looking, I must say. The next planet I'm aiming for is Minmus, then Duna.

WOOOOOOOO! When I went to see the new website, I read "0.21 released" and I could feel something like a membrane in my head explode. WOOOOOOOO!
-
I just saw it; looking gooooooooood.
-
As soon as I get the new update, I'm gonna make it my ultimate goal to travel, plant a flag, and return from every planet in the system, discluding Jool. But first, I'm gonna test to see if any of my favorite mods will work in the new version.

In a matter as serious as this, it's unlawful to joke around. Shame on you. -

All these videos, all this waiting. It's killing me! I'm just so excited, I can't wait. I haven't played KSP in a week 'cause of the update. It's gonna be great.
