Wow that's some serious breakdown cover, and one determined mechanic. Wish the AA were that persistent. The furthest I've ever made a Kerbal walk was about 3km on Duna to reach a rescue lander. Not much else to say really

For any who may be interested this thread is titled 'Grand-ish' because there are no manned landers for Eve or Tylo and the ship was almost completely rebuilt in Eve orbit following the Kraken's intervention. Speaking of the Kraken, our explorers were unable to locate it (despite me having landed an entire base on top of it in another save) so they returned to Pegasus. Look closely and you can spot Pegasus The crew then found the Kraken, or at least something, that chucked them into a higher orbit though still between Bop and Pol, confusing Kerbal alarm clock and my planned maneuver node, delaying the mission a further 30 days. Fortunately this far out, course corrections don't require much fuel and of course it's still 5 years until the Eeloo transfer window, though given Kerbal alarm clock's record with inclined orbits I'm now unsure about the veracity of that judgement. And so Pegasus has become my first object in orbit of Pol. The surface of Pol and the surface of Tylo are now the only unexplored regions of the Kerbol system for me, which is naturally quite exciting. 'Til next time.

I'M BACK BABY!!!! After 2 months of being unable to play KSP, I finally got round to inspecting my laptop's hardware (It being the holidays, I could afford to have it inactive for a few days). Turns out the chip that identifies the charger had exploded, leaking its guts all over my power board. Replaced it and now it runs like new! And so the voyage of Pegasus can continue! Thanks to Geschosskopf's advice, Bob was able to repair Shackleton's broken landing legs And Shackleton rejoined Pegasus for the trip to Bop, which is not an easy trip to make. So our brave Kerbals left Vall after what seemed like an age, but what was in fact 4 days. Tylo once again seemed determined to protect her sister moon, which delayed Pegasus's arrival by 40 days as Jeb lined up another approach. There was much trepidation among the crew as Bop finally neared, after all it is the home of the Kraken and it has already shown an interest in Pegasus. Seanbert and Tomvin set out in Shackleton, landing without a problem and boldly planting a flag, before deciding to go on a Kraken hunt, which is where we'll leave it for today. I've got career mode to enjoy as well.

Farewell 0.22, I wish my computer weren't broken so I could have played you.

I suppose these used to be my workhorses. The Ares-1 lander (and variations); landed on Gilly, the Mun, Minmus, Ike, Duna and Dres over its long program. An elegantly simple design, but it had one slight flaw that led to the Ares program being cancelled.

Mission Control database: Share your future planned missions!

Gaarrrgh!! I have so many plans but I can't play KSP because my laptop's been acting up for the last month! After I finished my grand tour I was planning to build an Eeloo base and station (I've gotten a taste for ambitious missions lately) and perhaps revisit Eve with some new prototypes to see if I can make ascent less of a chore. But for now I'm stuck surfing the forums until I can get my laptop back up to speed. -
I think the strange silhouette is a kerbal with a jetpack
-
I used to have a large pile of failed SSTO wreckage at the end of the runway, but I deleted it to reduce lag on take-off

I love the Jool system, its SOI is so big it's not that hard to get to, and it's great fun just to slingshot about the place. Plus you get some awesome views, like this one

I admit to not using probes much anymore. But when I was first learning how to do interplanetary travel, my first missions were with probes. The lower mass and lack of a need for a return made it easier to focus just on the mechanics of the transfers. My first missions to Eve, Duna, Jool and Eeloo were all unmanned. Now that I'm close to landing a Kerbal on every body I'm thinking I may go back to remote craft in order to start building bases.

If I was making a wish 1st person EVAs would be awesome!!

This is actually one of my favourite pics I've taken. It's currently my desktop background That's Jeb. Eventually got him back. The first rescue (a two man lander piloted by one Kerbal) ended up stranded as well. An entirely remote third rescue mission got them both home.

Anyone else reminded of this? http://xkcd.com/695/ My probes don't come home. They carry on exploring, voyaging forever amongst the stars. I kind of envy them...

KSP Is starting to become a dangerous obsession.
Brapness replied to Runescope's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Some many painful feels being shared! My computer's giving up on me too, it's running too slow now to play KSP. 3 weeks! And I had a Grand Tour in progress too! -
Don't give up Whack, I believe in you! My own computer problems seem trifling by comparison, I've been hit by the old Dell "Your charger cannot be recognized" bug. Now my computer's running at reduced speed and KSP is unplayable. I'm sure you'll figure something out.

Tylo, hard to land on, equally hard to take off again. Actually an Eeloo base is my next project after I finish my grand-tour (and fix my laptop back up to speed)
-
I'd like to see biome maps for the other planets and moons. And functionality added to stations and bases. Ahh yes, the fatal weakness of my 'Samson-1' interplanetary stage. A problem both hilarious and infuriating.

Tips and tricks you found out yourself
Brapness replied to hugix's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Attempting to reach Duna from Moho by slingshotting around Kerbol, whilst awesome, is far less efficient than flying straight to Duna -
It's perfectly do-able, though I suggest testing construction on Kerbin before launching it. I had a Mun base I built back when I started playing KSP. It all worked, until a graphics glitch spontaneously destroyed the base and fired its parts on escape trajectories.

Surely if the buildings are made of the anti-element, then when they are hit by rockets they should annihilate creating an immense explosion and probably destroying much of the surrounding area?
-
The space center buildings are made to last. After investigating civilian plane crashes, Kerbal researchers discovered what always survived was a cute little doll, so they made the space center out of the same stuff.
-
I never did, which delayed my reaching orbit when I first started playing (back when the game first came out on steam). But I have to be honest, that feeling after several hours when a rocket I designed finally managed to reach orbit was fantastic. It's a shame you can't really repeat that experience...

My first Dres mission was hit by the Kraken on its return to Kerbin. Halfway home I switched to the ship to check up on my guys and then without warning they were chucked into interstellar space at a high fraction of the speed of light and according to the mission clock about 6 months forward in time. Then they vanished. Not content with just my crew, the Kraken then proceeded to destroy the universe. All my saves, new and old, were ruined. Great pits opened up around the KSC, the atmosphere thinned to vacuum, time itself ground to a halt. Truly it was the Kerbal apocalypse. I had to completely re-install the game - sorry I mean, restart the universe. I had my revenge though That's...actually kind of awesome. Some kind of trans-dimensional thing going on.

When I decided my first station's life was over I evacuated the crew onto a shuttle and then pushed the station into the atmosphere using RCS. It was once I had finished this that I remembered Desberry was in the hitchhiker storage module (this was before it had an internal view). So I put him in the Cupola to watch the descent. In a feat of awesomeness worthy of Jebediah himself, he actually survived!
