  1. In a way that is more realistic than usual. Handguns do not have huge accurate ranges and hitting a running target beyond say 10-20m would be an extremely good shot (plus the elevation angle from the 3-story height difference) - and you dont want to start sending rounds down a populated street on the off-chance you hit him.
  2. We do understand it quite well....except for how it reacts to gravity. This is because nobody has ever gathered enough of it to be able to measure gravity's effects on it. How do you measure the weight of say, 100 antiprotons? Currently, we cant, so it's a total unknown.
  3. Which means you probably have the most game here, no joke
  4. I think the best evidence for there not being large collection of antimatter (say an antimatter galaxy) is that it inevitably is going to come into contact with large amounts of normal matter, which would emit obvious tell-tale signs. Even the vacuum of deep space contains significant amounts of mass over large volumes and if there is a large amount of antimatter, it is unlikely to be vastly separated from the surrounding matter, so you would expect to see very visible reactions where they meet. There is I suppose, an outside chance that there are large amounts of antimatter, but signs point to no.
  5. Id imagine disabling his weapons without destroying him to be as difficult as coming alongside an uncooperating spaceship whilst his teammates blast you apart.
  6. Went to Amsterdam at newyears. Didnt get to go round the zoo there but we visited the attached museum on microbiology, which is not only quite unique, but really well done as well. Worth a visit, especially if your'e interested in evolution and biology. Lots of hands-on microscopes, live exhibits and such. (also the cafe is like suPer nice )
  7. I mean at least your savegames and KSP gamedata folder Its a good time to upgrade to SSDs, plus they have a huge effect on KSP loading times.
  8. I think there are a lot of foods whose origin began with a dare...blue cheese springs to mind. Or cheese for that matter. Or milk. I read something funny that went something like "People think drinking [human] breast milk is icky except for infants, but offer them some milk extracted from a random 1500lb ruminant mammal and they chug it down like nobody's business."
  9. Back up your data now. If the HD is on its last legs, it may be close to failure, which can cause you to lose data. If its not your HD, you havnt lost anything and its always good to backup every now and then.
  10. Havnt used my FB acc for over a decade. Still tense. What now?
  11. Oh well in that case its probably 100% accurate. That sounds like Im being snarky, but Im not.
  12. You're right it doesnt sound like heat is the problem. I hate to say it but I think you're approaching that point... You know the point Im talking about: Save your data to an external medium and wipe that thing back to the stone age, its the only way to be sure. The only choice you have left to make is whether to stick with Windows 7 or use the opportunity for an upgrade. **edit*** oh oh, I thought of something else - how old is your hard disk?
  13. Wait, was this study conducted by men?
  14. @razark Is it possible it could be overheating?
  15. For real. In space war, being within 10,000km of an enemy ship is dangerous, coming alongside one is unthinkable. Capturing one remotely via sophisticated computer attack is more reasonable but still somewhat out-there since the vital components can easily be air-gapped, as I assume is done in present-day ships.
  16. The boarding sequence in Startrek VI - not only do the boarders wear pressure suits but they disabled the onboard gravity first as well. This movie was also notable for the globules of blood floating around in freefall during this scene - which hilariously splashes to the floor when gravity is restored. A pretty nice example of good science in sci-fi.
  17. @YNM That is what I was referring to. Russian for craft/ship/vehicle, I wonder if it is part of the inspiration for the Kerbal nomenclature?
  18. They might not, but there is official voice procedure in various countries which describes how and when a mayday call should be made.
  19. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vostok_programme Scroll down to the first heading under "Missions" and see if you dont mis-read that on the first try. I nearly spit my coffee out.
  20. Im surprised nobody has suggested doing a virus/malware sweep.
  21. Pictured: the invention of the first firearm (colourised)
