  1. Right, because "Kerbal" and "Korabl" look and sound nothing alike. It's almost like Squad never even thought of that when they came up with the name! Let's load up MapSat and see if we can locate your sense of humor and other anomalies.
  2. Not in the least. It is intended to perform the same functions. Did you miss the pun? You do know the Russian word for "spaceship", nyet?
  3. That was kind of my point. It's silly to criticize someone for wanting to use autopilot to land a craft that was only ever landed... by autopilot.
  4. It's y'know, da key ya use ta open da Shap! Din'cha never learn dat in Shap class? (Sorry, I don't know. I just live around a bunch of Yinzers.)
  5. KW is a great parts pack but it's not optimized for 0.21. You'll need to get updated .cfg files for the pods and it helps to also use the Optimization Pack. I prefer NovaPunch because it's updated for 0.21 and has the larger parts you need for Saturn-style rockets. I really recommend Chatterer (very immersive), NavyFish's Docking Alignment Indicator, the RCS Build Aid for balancing thrusters, and Universe Replacer for making your game look SOOOOO GOOD!
  6. Imagine if we had to lose astronauts before we thought of things like those. We probably would never have made it into space.
  7. I agree. I can't always manage it manually (or sometimes I just don't want to), but it's a very satisfying feeling to do so. It's a rewarding skill to learn (as is rendezvous).
  8. Every time I hear the phrase "production values", I think of the fat kid in Super 8. Great video so far!
  9. Yeah, that's not a Kerbal rocket - it worked, and landed successfully. The Proton? Now that's a Kerbal rocket... (well, a "Korabl" rocket, actually).
  10. Thank you for helping teach people the fine art of rendezvous.
  11. Why am I reminded of Rock Hound's Rorschach Test in Armageddon?
  12. The Soviet Pack was updated for 0.21 on Spaceport eight days ago. What, exactly, were you expecting to be updated since then?
  13. Fair enough. I haven't done this with quite everything - nose cones and decouplers are the most readily mentioned examples. I can understand how modifying this in a plugin or mod would either be more complicated than doing it by hand, or it would run up against the license. Certainly you've accomplished the main goal, which is to optimize the unnecessarily bloated memory footprint of KW Rocketry.
  14. And your target docking port is so small... good luck clicking on it in the dark. That pink circle won't help much. It becomes essential when building stations, especially if you want them to be manageable in orbit. A station where everything's off by several degrees won't torque as easily, won't use RCS effectively, and won't look as good. If you're going for MIR, maybe it won't matter as much.
  15. And once more, Shepard can become one of the first in space.
  16. Rather than overwriting the duplicates, why not look into the method that I described? You don't need the same .mbm and .mu three times when the only difference is the scale in the .cfg. You just need to put all the part .cfgs into a folder with one set of model files.
  17. It's not getting "crushed", it's accumulating. Boyle's Law should tell you what happens when you compress a gas. No, what's happening is it's pressing up against more atmosphere, rather than sliding out of the way. What do you think causes the heat? Friction. And guess what all that heat does to the oxygen that's in the air? You guessed it, it burns. Ideally, you'd want to slow to below terminal velocity, because otherwise you're gaining speed faster than the atmosphere is braking you, and you will heat up.
  18. I usually do burns half-and-half (so a 20 second burn at T-10s) but I'll try the 2/3 method and see if it helps. I usually take great care to line myself up on the marker - at least as well as the finer level of control allows. But I'm not buying the devs' claim that the new SAS system is better in every way, any more than I buy their boasts that the new graphics improvements make the game run "smoother"...
  19. Nope. That didn't work either. Still not seeing the ORDA tutorial or scenarios. Blizzy's Docking Tutorial shows up fine though, so I know how to do this properly. The missions are there in the file structure, they just aren't showing up in the game.
  20. I agree - it would be sad for KW to be lost forever. The parts are beautiful, and as far as I know it's the only source for 5m parts needed for certain large designs. If Kyle and Winston truly don't want to continue, hopefully they will consider passing the torch to someone who is willing and able. Their work deserves to live on - and no point in punishing everyone for the behavior of a few.
  21. "The French don't have a word for 'surrender'"
  22. I don't know about you, but I've got clouds!
