Kerbals Hiring - feature - V1.0
JimmyAgent007 replied to Jaeleth's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
paying kerbals over time would also cause issues with long term missions. sending something to jool or wherever it would force you to take on contracts during that mission rather than timewarp to the windows and focus on one mission at a time. other features that give you stuff over time can be abused by the time warp, costing stuff over time lets the timewarp abuse you. (that sounds wrong) it COULD work for certain players but not all of them, i like to focus on one mission at a time even if it takes a few years. so its something that mods should definitely do like they are currently. I do like the idea of hiring skilled kerbals and/or training them with money. -
I had a avatar done in paint before it was cool... from my web-comic. Though I confess it was done in Paint.NET

This idea keeps showing up from time to time. Id like it. Hyperedit wont ever become stock and the simulator can be a goal in on itself. We can start out with an empty simulator and gradually add planets/moons as they are 'discovered' via the space program. If you want to test your Duna Lander then send a probe first to collect readings. How dense is the atmo? How much gravity? The probe doesnt need to survive or return home, just needs to get there and send some science back. Then the challenge of completing the simulator for all space bodies becomes a challenge to complete. Granted, we could guess at a lot of this info for our own solar system before sending probes but we frequently learn that we got stuff wrong after we sent something to take pictures. A bare bones simulator, start in Duna orbit of 150k, only simulating the qualities that have been returned from previous missions would be very helpful when designing that stage with minimal hassle.

How about a mod that lets you rename all the resources? Call funds, ore, rep, fuel, mono just whatever you want. -
Something specifically for the wormhole just lets you control what system you end up in. It doesnt let you fly around the solar system with impunity. Meaning, I cant just FTL from kerbin to duna but still get to different solar systems.

Do you feel KSP is ready for 1.0?
JimmyAgent007 replied to hoojiwana's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
They may have been able to set the deadline to whatever they wanted, but not move it once it was set. -
There is this.

Do you feel KSP is ready for 1.0?
JimmyAgent007 replied to hoojiwana's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I wonder why they cant move the deadline, someone over their heads make the call? Some sort of outside pressure? They seemed all set for multiple beta updates. Maybe they signed a Non-Disclosure-Agreement and cant actually come out and tell us. -
I like the idea of FTL but id rather it be done with something like a wormhole than an engine. You get to the end of the tech tree, discover the wormhole (out past minimus, polar orbit around the sun, way past all the planets, somewhere) stick a wormhole stabilizer part on your ship and get in close. Then you end up in a random solar system with random planets. You get to name everything yourself. The wormhole stabilizer can be set to take you to whatever system you want. Home, a random location, some place you found. This way you dont have a magic engine that lets you hop around to different planets without effort but still get to go new places.

On Twitter "Maxmaps - More analysis necessary. I'm sure our fans would be okay waiting for stuff if it meant more polish everywhere. Would love to hear from you." So I think that maybe they are trying to gauge if our desire for a release is greater than our desire for all the 1.0 features they talked about. Personally I want ALL THE FEATURES
-
I dont think this thread was supposed to indicate they are slacking or thinking of dropping any particular feature. Just that they wanted to gather some idea as to what is most important to people to help with time management decisions. I still think a .99 release would have been a good idea, then ask this question, then go for 1.0. That being said, the original question could have been worded better.

Flag-planting captions- what do you write?
JimmyAgent007 replied to FlyingPete's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I almost always have some variation to this. "Finally made it to ______. Hopefully we have enough fuel to get home." -
KSP 1.0 General Thread + All the new features
JimmyAgent007 replied to Daze's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Im very much hoping they leave the tech tree editor in place for us to play with. Ive suggested it long ago and seen others suggest it. Drag and drop, input science values, make and remove nodes, all when you start a new game to make it your way. A healthy new default tech tree would be fantastic as well but no matter how good it is, people will want to tweak it a bit at the very least. -

No, you would be yelling "Hey! Give me back my tire!" at me as I run away with your tire. -
Kerbal Gendered Names.
JimmyAgent007 replied to TransSister's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Keeping it random is the best policy. Making specific ratios is unnecessary. One pool for everyone is simple and the best solution so you can get any gender with any name. -

What about the tourism contracts for civilians in space? Was there a post about that? -
Civilian passengers
JimmyAgent007 replied to daniel l.'s topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Really? Must have missed that. Where did they say that? -
Agreed. All the people who avoid Early Access like the plague will start flooding in.

They are worth it in my opinion. More so if you are using the same ship over and over. Leave it in orbit and then just refuel so you dont need to lift the nuke engines more than once. Personally I never use any other kind of engine in space. Landers and Launchers are different but any long distance moving I do is with Nukes.

I remember suggesting something like this at some point a long time ago and it was on the list of things not to suggest because it involved reducing part counts or whatever. that being said, i really like the idea and now that 1.0 is on the way we should revisit a bunch of stuff on that list. Id prefer a self welding docking port to make it secure, EVA to activate it, then shrouds the ports. If you want to disassemble then its another EVA trip and back to normal.

Is this the longest ramp jump ever attempted in ksp?

can you decouple the wings at the ramp? -
So are you practicing "Pointy Rockets"?
JimmyAgent007 replied to SpacedCowboy's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Havent been using flat rockets since i discovered how to A-Stage. That being said, launching rovers and other odd shapes will be balanced by having fairings. Im looking forward to having to relearn how to launch. -
Should SQUAD post all KSP announcements on the official forum?
JimmyAgent007 replied to Yakuzi's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Not sure if its been mentioned but it can also be a numbers game. More people use twitter than the forums, same with reddit, and every other source. So more people are exposed and thus generate awareness. Is there any community less numerous than the forum? Plus the info hunt is kind of fun and a pleasant surprise when someone posts it here. We do get the dev notes, and Harv and the gang do respond to posts here like they do elsewhere. Of course we all think they dont respond enough because they dont spend every waking hour answering every question we ask but it still happens. A twitter feed window in the forums would be nice, that updates with dev posts in reddit would be awesome. But is there really any example of information that never made it to the forum in some way? Everything gets posted here eventually. Worst case scenario is that we get surprised when the update drops. Learning the features arnt what you wanted or whatever is going to happen no matter how you learn about it so not being told isnt really that big a deal. If Squad didnt care about the forums then we wouldnt be getting any posts from them. So my opinion is that, we always want more, but what we have isnt bad.
