why this won't work for me? It shows position Y ,X and all that on sky in KSP

Today I checked all of my space stations - around Duna, Kerbin, Mun and minmus, hopefully sending storage module with solar panels and docking ports to laythe.. - and I found out that every spacestation is okay and at least has half of it's fuel ready. except kerbin's ( which is really big space station, with lander, orbit module, storage module, Mainsail engine with 720L tank and a jumbo one. barely has any fuel.. ) I decided to refuel it once and for all but the challenge is to refuel it in ONE mission. what I did is build a massive rocket, with a jumbo tank in middle and 4 90L tanks mounted on sides with nuclear engines. Took this all the way to 500 KM, and reached there with enough fuel to refuel the station and come back. I'm proud to carry 50 ton weight to 500 KM orbit!

Launching a Payload
MrPopcup replied to Liam Sheepman's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
weight is not a problem for you, the problem is the size of it, Launching a mun base in one launch is pretty freaking hard! I once launched a mun base - which is kind of a ramp to make rovers/landers dock with it and refuel. it was only 11 tons and had many issues with the skycrane, I ended up with 3 engines on my sky crane just to balance it and then took it to the moon.. was pretty hard.. I suggest you to take everybit of this base to kerbin's orbit, then dock them together and send them to the mun, or if you want it to be easier, take everything to the mun and dock there, low gravity and low velocity ( for orbit ) will really help you to dock easily. P.S: Today I checked up my station in kerbin's orbit ( 500 KM ) and it was low on fuel and RCS, I made a rocket to refuel it, the rocket ( orange,Jumbo tank ) with 4 little 90L tanks on sides with 4 nuclear engines mounted, I took this 50 ton thing all the way to my spacestation and refueled it, fps were 10 duing launch, just to make you understand how hard is this! -
Thanks man! Successfully docked those 2 things together, Phew..! It was really hard to dock them.. I used your advise ( Turn off ASAS and RCS ) and it worked like charm! now I have a spacestation around duna and a kethane miner! yay!! P.S: Excuse me, english is my 3rd language and I was in a hurry when I wrote that.. you can count in that i'm also very fast in typing..

Hello! So today, I decided to send a Spacestation to duna, I launched the kethane lander with big docking port in front and on sides the small ones, after I did the orbit, circularized and 1600 of fuel left in my jumbo tank ( for the mainsail ). I decided to send the spacestation to orbit, then dock with the lander, so when I reach duna I can land and still have some fuel in my station, that way I hit 2 birds with one rock. But that's not the problem.. the problem is I don't have enough fuel to carry that weight to duna, So i must launch a refueler to dock with the lander and refuel the Jumbo tank, I launched , and when docking my spacecraft ( refueler ) was shaking so bad! even with RCS and ASAS, I tried everything I could to dock, but a success.. I docked, then in all of a sudden the refueler shaked HARD and wipped the tank that would refuel the Jumbo tank. what caused this ? EDIT: Answered! thanks for the answer Dynamo!

Hi guys, so yesterday I planned on getting a storage module with big solar panels and landing legs, scientific stuff and ladders with parachutes ( load of them.. ) to laythe, all of this weighted about 6 tons, but the problem is not getting it to laythe.. the Problem is LANDING on laythe, in a previous mission I landed a rover there, using skycrane but with parachutes, then before touchdown startup the rockets and land the rover softly, It was success ( though i broke one wheel, but I sent a manned capsule there and it was solved. ) the problem is I want everything to be near other modules, because I'm making a base, and as we all know laythe is hard to land with these little islands ;(. I sent that storage module and then prepared for re-entry and you know the arch keeps shrinking cause of the atmosphere and that makes me land near the sea or very far. so, How To Land PRECISELY on atmospheric planets? ( ~4km from target ) EDIT: Answered! thanks for everyone!

thanks everyone! i've got my answer! @ arq, I have updated to 0.21.1 just yesterday, wasn't available that much. @ Geschosskopf, thanks for the great answer! explained everything I wanted and even more! note: I asked because I didn't know that SAS was built in command modules, but now I know!

Thanks for telling me, its 3:00 AM right now I really need to sleep x), tomorrow work uh ;O. but anyway, I'll wait untill tomorrow's morning and see what others think/have.

hello there everyone, sense 0.18 came out I was waiting the whole time for SQUAD or anyother modder to release an SAS or ASAS thing for probes, like a small one and lighter in mass, so we can actually make probes not that heavy ( compared to probes with ASAS and with the fuel.. ) , at least this is my question, - Has any modder made an ASAS for probes?
-
First I made a rocket that can reach , orbit and land on laythe, it's a tiny rocket ( compared to others that go to jool ) and capable of sending a storage module full of kerbals with utilities, also sending a rover! ( not together! ) then I landed the rover, upon landing, one wheels was broken and the mission got temporarily paused, and made the kerbals send another manned rocket, testing laythe's atmosphere and it's effects on kerbals, also to repair the rover, mission was a success! wheel fixed and rover is now exploring laythe! then he requested to send other kerbals to laythe, because it has an atmosphere! so again they launched storage module with 4 kerbals and landed near the kerbal ( 5.9 km ), after that I launched an airplane to laythe and went to the north pole! yeah!!

I just can't seem to dock.
MrPopcup replied to Anizer's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
what everyone said above it true, but they forgot an important thing, NOTHING Stays near the other thing in space, they will end up very far away, so if you 'parked' your ship near the other one, time warp ahead and you'll see they'll end up separating from each other, so it's dock or not! -
Look, if I understood you well, your making your burn way too much, both of them have low gravity, specially minmus, what you need to do is this -> say your in 80x75km orbit, and you want to get down, make a maneuver node and make the periapses ( sorry if I spelled it wrong ) go down to 5 or 8 km ( above your target ) then when you reach 10 km, start killing horizontal velocity by following the retro-grade marker ( the one with dot in the middle ) you should see it going slowly up to the center, let it go to the center but keep you velocity low ( say ~ 10m/s ) then once you started 'seeing' your shadow start slowing down to 3m/s, you can tell your height by the shadow, once you see the shadow really close, thrust up a little and make it reach 1~2 m/s ( although 3m/s is pretty good to land with ) but just to make it better and safer, then you'll touch down and boom, you landed without horizontal velocity ! ( a tip: always turn of your engine when you land, you may thrust up by accident and loose everything you did. )

It depends on you.. what I mean is, if you have time, and want to send huge bases at once ( dock stuff and send them ) , the place would be laythe, because laythe has an atmosphere which would seriously help you land easily, with using a bit of thrust when close to the ground, the problem is fuel and time, if you can send ( or make ) rockets to dock/launch and reach laythe then you have no problem, on the other hand, minmus is easy to encounter, really low gravity which requires a bit of fuel and most important, as mentioned above, you can mine kethane anywhere, while on laythe the planet is like 90% liquid and 10% land, for me i'd choose laythe, more challenging and after you finish your base, you can enjoy the view of jool/send probes from your base to jool's moons. i'd say it's a DRAW between both. the choice is up to you, but again I recommend laythe, after you finish the base you'll know what I'm talking about x)

Show off you accomplishments in pictures! I'll go first! Take the link and scroll to see pictures, down below is the story of each one! http://imgur.com/a/HPaVf#0 here I was flying in my stock aircraft trying to be a pro at doing tricks and stuff, I got very low to the ground and my wing touched the ground, now i'm flying with one wing trying to save sigfry kerman ( notice how cool is he, more than jeb ah ? ) --- after that, you'll find my lander with a rover, before re-entry in Duna's atmosphere. --- Now, Here's my P.S.B ( Pol Science Base ) Departing from my little SpaceStation around Pol. --- here, you see my Duna Lander getting the re-entry effects! how cool ! --- best picture so far! my little space station from 0.21! with the new mun! --- then there is my little base.. meanwhile trying to flip the storage module.. lol.. --- my blazing fast aircraft ( can be found at my channel, MrPopcup ) getting Super Sonic effects after seconds of launch.. --- Successfully landed the two wingless spacecraft ! Horray!! --- Landed on Karactika ( lol ) for the first time in 0.21, with half of fuel left.. --- last but not least, my HUGE spacestation, and a space shuttle closing in to dock, unfortunately it had some mods in it, so it's no longer in 0.21 ((!! P.S: I'm just a beginner and I don't know that much in forums, so please don't rush on me ;D!

Your'e Close to your success! Keep going man! @Captain Sierra
-
oh my god amazing! youre a lucky person man! LOL!

I agree! when I downloaded KSP today, I launched my saved ships immediately and I saw my rockets ( SRB's on sides with liquid engine in the middle ) are slightly going off-center ( during vertical launch ) and I was forced to keep it back on center, it's not the same ASAS, I ended up adding about 4 more ASAS to kill this random stuff, keep in mind that my rocket is perfectly balanced with no issues! It was perfect in 0.20, please fix this squad! at least make it hold it's heading like older version but without the wobble thingy!
-
Thanks Capt'n Skunky! @ Rainbowtrout , Thanks for welcoming me! it was pretty hard and you don't wanna know how many times I restarted! keep going and you'll see!!

If you are in VAB then the symmetry wont work as you want, do what I always do if Your not that accurate, go to SPH , Make your rover there because the symmetry works as you want for rovers, then copy it's save ( .craft file - your KSP folder - Saves - your save name - ships - SPH - find the name of the rover, copy it and head to VAB which is found in ships, paste it there and voila your ready to go!

Hello everyone! I'm MrPopcup and I've been playing this game quite a lot, I Learned alot of it and hopefully I will master it ( Maybe I already did, cause I got to jool and landed on pol ! I gotta say, what an epic/breathtaking forum you guys have! Have fun! I'm enjoying KSP!

Hmm.. Today I Landed a kethane miner on Dres, Took me sometime to get it right but guess what? I ran out of fuel just before 3 seconds of touching down! I hit the surface @ 3.4m/s , but that isn't bad, not every landing should be ' soft landing ' , still, was hard to get the encounter.. hey, with that same lander, I put into orbit a satellite ( which was docked above the lander ) and it scanned the surface for me before I landed, anyway, I landed and deployed my buggy medium rover ! Scanning was to know where to land ( for kethane, of course.. ) but something terrible happened ;(! after I landed, mined and re-fueled, Switched back to my satellite to continue scanning, I found that it's dead, batteries are used, forgot to deploy Solar panels.. so wish me luck to bring in another satellite! Next mission - going to laythe!
-
First thing i'm gonna do is to launch a rocket to space and put 2 satellites in kerbin's orbit, then head over to the mun with my buggy-thing ;D! Seriously, I can't wait to see the new Mun and other planets new textures, if they did other planets.. also i'm very excited to see laythe, hopefully they will add high mountains anytime soon.. maybe make a bit more land?
