Names usually derive from the function or purpose so I have craft like Munshot, Skyclimber, ScanSat, ComSat, and the like with roman numerals to mark major redesigns and updates and letters to mark small changes (like added science equipment). So you'll see things like Munshot II, ScanSat IIIb, or Skyclimber VI. In the case of satellites I'll usually rename them after launch to include the celestial body they are orbiting (so Mun ScanSat IIIb) or the orbit (LKO ComSat I) to differentiate them in the tracking station list. If I've got multiples (like a network) then they get numbers to differentiate them (LKO ComSat Ic 2). Edit: I might at some point switch to a mythology based naming scheme. An Agni series of lifters or a Sisyphus class orbital tug has appeal to me.

I don't think I have a style yet as i'm still at the stage where it's about slapping on boosters, extra stages, or more fuel tanks to get things done. I do tend to rely on a liquid fueled central core with a single engine and as many solid boosters as it takes to get things working. I'm sure I'll eventually reach a stage where, one that won't work, and two I've got the craft design skills that finess starts becoming a thing.

It wasn't particularly troubling so no funny stories about the struggles but when all was said and done I probably had enough dV left over to do it all over again (which is probably why there were no funny stories, more dV covers a multitude of errors). Packing light is a dicey proposition when you're doing stuff without knowing your dV.

I use HyperEdit to to fine tune my satellite networks. To soothe my conscience I get them into an orbit with the proper periapsis and apoapsis but I I don't have the patience to fine tune the orbit to create a stable network. I also use HyperEdit to test things like if a lander has appropriate heat shielding or parachutes by loading them onto the launchpad and then putting them into a reentry 'orbit', but I only feel minimally bad about that.

Edit: Looks like the figures take that into account.

Would you buy expansion packs for KSP? How much?
Dravin replied to ngianoplus's topic in KSP1 Discussion
How much I'm willing to pay for DLC or an expansion is dependent on the content. I went ahead and voted $30, simply because I would be willing to pay $30 if the content was right. Don't ask me what content is worth paying $30 as I don't have anything in mind. -
They probably do, geologist, at least geologist students, do it. I think by and large most groups with specialized knowledge and/or experience tend to have their whinging sessions about ignorance concerning their field. It is worth pointing out from time to time that to someone else you're, that's a generic you, the ignorant one who says silly things or at least thinks some silly things.

Also sometimes for expected and good reasons, like ramping off the edge of a crater on the Mun at 10 m/s.

Yes, it is fun, particularly when the crew is on opposite ends of the spectrum between 'What is happening to me!?' and 'This... is... awesome!'.

I've had similar random failures on the launchpad, I figure it's just a random glitch. I do admit it is annoying to have a lifter you've used several times without incident just fall apart on the launch pad (sometimes quite spectacularly) and then work perfectly fine by reverting to launch. Such are the vagaries of early access I suppose.

Two of my favorites:

My names are rather unimaginative with things like, "Minimus Sat I", "Mun Sat I", "Mun Shot I" and "Mun Shot II". I do have oddball moments though, like when I created a refueling space station and named it after a local chain of gas stations.
