  1. As awesome as that sounds, I'm pretty sure they were talking about the shimmery atmospheric refraction effect when something makes the air really hot.
  2. /thread, I believe. OP, have you noticed that there are a few tanks that hold purely liquid fuel? They may be plane fuselages, but they still work if you need to stock a lot of the stuff lol. And it may be totally unrelated but I would like to see stock inclusion of fueled nosecones/adapters.
  3. Reading fairly far into it, the Kerbals so longed for space that they built capsules before even considering the usefulness of unmanned craft. Once their star-lust dulled down a bit, they were like "oh crap, it would be cool to have computers do some of this stuff for us" and eventually "I guess there are enough reasons to go putzing around on the ground, might as well develop some wheels." XD
  4. Agreed, but somebody with a *tiny* bit of design skill can open up Photoshop or any freeware photo editing program, create a logo, and save it in the proper place to make it a mission flag. <<My forum avi here? It's the one I use in game as well. I won't lie and say it isn't a pain in the butt/a fool's errand if you don't know what you're doing, but a GTA5-style crew logo editor seems quite unnecessary.
  5. You nailed it. KSP is in no small fraction, scenery ****. The game's already gorgeous, and a few small tweaks like this would take it to the next level. P.S. Atmospheric heat ripples are not so graphics-intensive that they couldn't throw them into Just Cause 2. (look at the jetway below the right side of the chopper) EDIT: Harder to see in this one, but here's another example from SW: KotOR 2, a much older game. It can be done. http://www.mobygames.com/images/shots/l/101261-star-wars-knights-of-the-old-republic-ii-the-sith-lords-windows.png
  6. That's all well and good, but either Squad would have to keep making updated contacts, or premade ones would eventually repeat. Because frankly, I see limited possibility for procedurally generated payloads that are actually functional. Whoa, that's a lot of Ks. But I think competing contracts like this would also be cool.
  7. Nah. I trust the devs to take the game in the right direction. And with mods to fill in the gaps, a democratic system is totally unnecessary.
  8. Give the Kadet a promotion XD. I would even simplify further though by disabling display of flags, EVAs, and bases by default, just like debris.
  9. Even though "Mun" is a proper name, I usually say "the moon." I should use the correct spelling though, because there is more than one around Kerbin XD.
  10. Below a certain altitude in FAR, I find SAS to conflict with the control surfaces in an unwanted harmonic fashion which makes the plane flap itself to pieces. Once I get into the thinner air around 15-20 kilometers, however, it does come in very handy.
  11. Agreed there, yet I shudder to think of the size of the transfer craft if the lander is powered by a Mainsail. O.O
  12. Has anyone recommended clicking a part of a different orientation from the root and choosing "control from here"? It changes what is considered the front, back, etc. of the ship and switches the RCS controls accordingly. The docking port on the bottom should work very well. As stated above I also use IJKL/HN for RCS translation; worth checking out.
  13. Awesome, thank you very much. I was stuck to playing it on 1024 and it was tiny compared to the total size of the monitor hehe.
  14. As far as I know, if the skybox is handled the same way it is in other game engines, it is functionally infinite. It's not just a sphere with stars on the inside, but a dynamic system that appears to move with you as you get closer.
  15. I'm sort of afraid to ask at the possibility of it being a stupid question, but how do you change the resolution of KSP's windowed mode? I only have two choices, neither of which are very high.
  16. It could be as simple as the innate connotation the spelling difference has. Academically, "more" and "moar" sound the same, but with emphasis on the A, it makes the sound slightly primal. "More boosters" is a request; "Moar boosters!" is a battlecry.
  17. That first stable orbit feels really great. Eccentric, inclined, whatever, you're in freaking space. Congrats. Now it's all about getting that humble path with various vehicles and refining it into something a bit more useful.
  18. Relating to the forum user here called Whackjob, who is apparently known for making the most insane monstrosities ever to defile the KSC launch pad. And he's a freaking genius. I haven't been to Jool so can't say anything about the dV requirements, but that looks like a fair amount of fuel for 3 LV-Ns (I've used more engines and less fuel with respectable results) so I think you should be fine. Noted about the struts, so that and KJR should do a fine job of keeping it together.
  19. That launcher is starting to look a little Whackjovian. Do you insist on a single launch? Personally I like orbital assembly a whole lot better. With that said though, I think the design of the top half is great. That ship should perform admirably over a long range. And I just might have to steal the idea of putting those small landers on opposite sides of a girder. Very clever.
  20. Why ion engines? Because you've got electricity to burn and a blue glow looks way more high tech than gratuitous flames.
  21. Hmm? Roleplaying at least, I'm playing in the Milky Way a few hundred years from now. And I'm assuming the Kerbals are normal humans lol. EDIT: I see the poll now. Stock for the time being.
  22. Colonies are cool, but huge domes? That's stretching it quite a bit. Not to mention getting in and out would be a fair pain.
  23. What? Unacceptable! There's no reason at all they should have been caught when it would be dismissively easy to make it look like an accident! rofl
  24. Sounds really cool, almost like *gasp!* actual science. I think KSP would benefit a lot from that, so long as it was a career-mode only thing. All the information would be readily available in sandbox mode.
  25. I finally made an SSTO that works! The XS-1 Pegasus, on its maiden voyage in a ~100km equatorial orbit. I apologize for the lousy paint scheme, but KerbPaint has been acting up on me.
