  1. I don't think you can get them to fire at both missiles and the opponent craft though. That's their weakness.
  2. Laser boats are susceptible to missiles as they generally don't have the manoeuvrability to escape them.
  3. Sorry @inigma Can I replace Stealth Weasel v2 with Stealth Weasel v2.1? That nose was flapping about too much for my liking. Thanks. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9mK0rPybNaxM01PN3RHTklLRFk
  4. From testing, yes. Slapping on the laser seems to have affected the planes manoeuvrability though, (the nose wobbles due to the weight), but I can't be bothered to change it now.
  5. Meh, who needs guns anyway. Stealth Weasel v2! https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9mK0rPybNaxcmFfb1F5N2F3bEU
  6. Yes, it wasn't compatible with 1.0.5 so I will have to wait for 1.1 to test it. It will be a good benchmarking tool!
  7. Wooooooah, OMG. Can you do a YouTube video on it? Congrats on realising your dream Azimech! I'm guessing the pistons are driven from jet/rocket wash with your timing mod switching them on or off at the right time?
  8. The reign of Stealth Weasel is over! Well played to Gag although having tested his plane, (the one with the giant wings and 2 engines, can't remember the name), I knew it had a good chance of beating mine. I guess the secret to building a good plane is to have a good opponent to build against. Now, I need to work on Stealth Weasel II!
  9. For some reason the Wheesley's need more than one radial intake each to stop flame outs when stationary when they are at full power, (i.e 3 radial intakes for 2 Wheesleys). As for your balance problems, right click on the back engines and reduce thrust to zero to see the CoL for just the VTOL engines. If that doesn't help upload a craft file and I will take a look at it. You might just need some more reaction wheels.
  10. I'll post my interpretation. It's roughly like how much fuel you've got in your rocket. Your craft has a certain amount of DeltaV and when it runs out you can't change were you're going because you can't use your engines any more. Have you used manoeuvre nodes yet? When you create one it shows a DeltaV bar and that's how much DeltaV you need, (how much thrust), to carry out that manoeuvre. If you want to relate that to what others have said above, if you want to change your orbit in any way you need to change your speed at certain positions and you use that by firing your engines and that uses fuel. It probably doesn't help that the stock game doesn't show how much DeltaV your craft has when you are building or flying something so the concept is a little alien to new players although there are mods that let you see this number and it is very useful for planning out what your craft can do.
  11. You can stick more wing on the craft and move it inside the plane or inside other wing surfaces. I've tried that trick with all kinds of craft that had CoL issues or lift issues in general but wanted to keep the aesthetics.
  12. Lol, thanks for the compliment. Don't give up! I will give you a couple of tips if I may: You need a lot of turning surfaces, (flaps ailerons etc), but you don't want the plane to flip over, do a 180 and end up flying backwards, nor do you want the plane to flip 90 degrees and hit a wall of air. The biggest advantage is a high wing area to weight ratio. Lots of wing enables the airflow to change the planes direction at a shallower angle it's pointing in and causes less drag and thus keeps up speed and of course less weight means there's less momentum to fight against. That's why the plane doesn't have much on it in the way of armaments and as little fuel as I think I can get away with. Also, tails on the top of the plane can cause gun inaccuracy. If you have yaw surfaces only on top of the plane then the plane wants to roll as well when you yaw and the AI is trying to compensate for that which makes the plane spray its guns more. Try and mount yaw surfaces more in line with the Centre of Mass.
  13. I don't think so. I think the AI can only target 1 thing at a time. Also if you have two gun types it tends to favour one and stick with that. Personally I found the turreted Vulcans as good as the fixed ones.
  14. That seems the way to go. Keep the other plane busy and close in with guns. It's a bit different to the previous version of BD A which started as a missile joust and then ended up as a dogfight if both planes survived. This version, if you get the opposing plane on the defensive it is difficult for the opposition to counter it. It ends up taking evasive manoeuvres against the guns and can't use its manoeuvrability to turn the tables and get behind the attacking plane even if it has better turning skill. I'm not sure I like that personally. Perhaps it was implemented to help planes avoid ground guns. Still, with turreted weapons it may not be a problem.
  15. Krakens live in spacial pockets. As soon as you do something Kraken worthy they pop out and engulf your craft with lethal intent!
  16. Thanks Inigma but I will just stick with what I have until it is beaten. Saves you trouble too. I need to finish a version 2 for later rounds anyway.
  17. Not bad! Although you had to launch 6 missiles at a time to take down my planes some of the time. Not that there is anything wrong with that of course. It is something I will have to test.
  18. Sweet! Glad I could help. We queried it when 1.05 came out as some of us like to use engine wash to spin rotor blades. One of the devs, (or someone who knows the devs), said the engine thrust splits in two and both thrusts sweep back in an arc when engine reversal is enabled and that meant they had to disable the engine wash or it would destroy whatever plane it was mounted to. Something like that.
  19. A railway, I never thought of that. I might have to make some kind of monorail version so it has less parts.
  20. Woah, how many parts? Also, it's a shame those big engines have such a long pylon on them. It would be nice if the stock models allowed them to be removed. Great job though. That thing looks like it could take out half a Navy on its own. Also, I'm not sure if you are aware but those engines don't create any engine wash, (due to the thrust reversal physics), so you can hide them inside the ship if you wanted.
  21. Stealth Weasel! \o/ I didn't think it would win that. I guess this shows my crafts weakness, it can be overwhelmed with missiles sometimes forcing a 1v2 that it cannot easily win. GG Guggy13. o7 Thanks for filming inigma.
