  1. Several I like are already listed above. I was going to mention Haldeman's Forever War, but its listed too. I'll add that supposedly, Ridley Scott is said to be working on a movie based on that story. I like variety, but science fiction and astronomy tend to be at the top of the list.
  2. "Rocket Man" and "Major Tom" are obvious choices. There is a related thread over in the Space Lounge, for general listening, not necessarily during launch or flight in KSP. A variety of stuff there: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/40439-What-music-do-you-listen-to
  3. Still waiting for Europa Report to be released in my neck of the woods.
  4. You should be able to stack tanks. Are you putting anything between them, like separators? If so, don't. The fuel will be drawn from the upper tank first. Just in case, you do attach an engine directly under the (lower) tank, without separators too. I'm also not aware of a stack limit, except for the size of the VAB. But stack too much and it may be too massive for the engine to move. If you are attaching tanks radially, that's not stacking and I don't think fuel will flow laterally. For that you'll need fuel pipes and you connect to the source tank first and the receiving tank to complete the connection. If you still have problems, a photo would help.
  5. Preceding advice is good. I really don't know how far I'm gonna get with this, but I know it will get past the moons. I'm just starting to venture out past the Kerbin (not Kerbol) system and I've been having fun with it, most of the time, and learning. Its not even the most efficient design and there is redundancy, but it works. Its a lander and orbiter combo. You'll succeed if you keep at it and take the good advice from this thread.
  6. Perhaps we will be able to choose a career path, so to speak, depending on whether or not we wish to start with rockets or planes. Better yet, we could shift to making any kind of vehicle at any time; such as rockets, planes, rovers, boats, whatever.
  7. One of my flag ideas. This could be for a KSP exploration effort. I've not come up with any text yet. I'm open to suggestions.
  8. Slings & Arrows of Outrageous Fortune: The game is here: http://marathon.sourceforge.net/games/marathon2.php
  9. Doh! Thank you KasperVid and Aphox. Maybe I should look around and see what else I can do with all the little icons and such. :-) I'm LOL right now at myself. Take care!
  10. The moon makes for a good place to build and launch interplanetary missions (from its surface or in its orbit). Its environment is in some respects similar to that of Mars (and in some respects more extreme). If we can establish a successful human presence on our relatively near moon, we should be able to achieve the same thing on Ceres (the Belt in general), Mars and outward.
  11. If you use a Mac, the App store has a ton of capture utilities, some free and some not. Not sure if QT does it but I've used Snapz X Pro for years with good results.
  12. Cool Sid. To embed, look at the toolbar just above where you type a post/reply. Find the filmstrip icon. Hover the mouse over it. Text may appear at the mouse revealing "insert video". Click on that icon. A pop up appears into which you paste the video URL. It works with You Tube but not with all video sites. For the other sites that don't work, use the "insert link" icon.
  13. Why, that's easy! Wordy Rapping-hood! (Its not rap.) http://www.blinkx.com/watch-video/tom-tom-club-wordy-rappinghood/G1sicEjGIJLJJgxnM7PaFA Really though, this one's great! Watch & listen: Bungie's Marathon 2 theme song, by Power of Seven: Portal end theme song (may contain spoilers): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8JatlRwd0s&feature=player_embedded#at=31 Mummers Dance, by Loreena McKennitt: Unreal Top 10 music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkfjtIRbTf4&feature=player_embedded#at=13 Autobahn, by Kraftwerk (single version): Electric Avenue by Eddy Grant: Tom Petty's Learning to Fly: Pick Up the Pieces, by AWB: and a link to Argent; Hold Your Head Up: Notice the titles of the latter may apply to KSP experiences!Really, variety is good.
  14. While its still a long way to go until practical fusion implementation, breaking even has been a "holy grail" for decades. Humanity is curious and tenacious, so the odds are that one of the competing methods and facilities will find the way to a working solution. Probably sooner than anyone expects.
  15. Cool! You know about that too? Note: I didn't really know about Godwin's Law.
  16. Uh, Crash Industries? :-) Would work for me I'm afraid.
  17. Reread what I wrote. I didn't indicate that your views are extreme (whatever they are). The examples you cited are (and yes real). Thanks for that info about capitalization of atheism. I also think that any group holding to a "holier than thou" position may be in violation of its own tenants. No, atheism is not a religion, but some might view it as a dogma (dogmatic) rather than a mere stance or position. But that's just nitpicking I suppose.
  18. I clarified my post above a little. One wonders how such a people as built Gobekli Tepe got their engineering and artistic skills, since the prevailing notion before that discovery was that culture and civilization preceded (advanced) religious development. Oh, I'm not claiming to know how that happened either. Its an open question for science now.
  19. I'll accept your statement that an Atheist does not necessarily deny the existence of something that cannot be scientifically proved or disproved. Thanks for that. Interesting. Yet your examples are certainly extreme ones, as were Hitler's attempts at burying a religious (and ethnic) group. Your view appears to be in opposition to the scientist quoted in this article, since you imply a gradual rise in both cultural and religious complexity (a common conception): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Göbekli_Tepe The article quotes "first came the temple, then the city."
  20. Ouch! That's why I've gone to the extreme of adding (massive) nukes.
  21. KasperVid, apparently I cannot bring up the dialog when trying to click on a reputation bar. Would the fact that I'm using Safari and the latest Mac OSX have anything to do with it?
  22. Logistics would be a challenge and the payoff probably many years away from the project start, but I like the idea of something like "Station 5" from "2001: ...". Its hub is a micro gee environment (the ships can dock outside instead of inside a bay) and gee forces are simulated in a graduated way from that low gee environment to whatever the outermost rim component is designed to handle (probably less than one gee but maybe up to one gee). This would facilitate science and industry at the most beneficial amount of gee force (position between hub and rim). 3D printing and other methods would be employed.
  23. I try to be a little redundant with my general purpose ships. I'll have a battery in each section (not each stage), as well as nukes and small solar cells. Even though its more mass and drag, I have more than one of each simply for craft balance.
