  1. Yeah, he knows a lot. It's normal for conversation skills to reduce as one ages. He really knows what he's talking about, and I wish the hosts were more professional.
  2. Well, he is old, but I don't like the condescending looks and talk from others. Give the guy a break...
  3. Not enough to harm you, but sensitive electronics in vacuum? Charge buildup and arching in microchips, bremmstrahlung, those are all significant problems engineers have to deal with, and they do. Obviosly. Not only they're outside, but they're mostly away from the craft so the interfering is as low as possible. Procedural heatshield with mylar texture, maybe? It kind of looks ok.
  4. That's incredibly stupid and ignorant what you just said. Emotions are governed by lower brain centers. Even crocodiles display emotions - anger and rage. They can't display rational thoughts or love because they lack the specific brain matter we have. Mammals such as Hominoidea (apes) and Cetacea (whales, dolphins, ...) have extremely well developed additional emotions, relative to Mollusca and Arthropoda, for example. Happiness, joy, excitement, sorrow, it's all detectable in gorillas, dolphins, etc. True, humans have stronger emotions and rational thought, so they can elaborate it. They can write a poem or paint a picture. You, too, have missed the point whackjob was trying to make.
  5. You're missing the point. This is not about rationalization. Yes, there are way worse things in the news at the moment, just look at what's happening in Middle East, but this is about provoking an emotional reaction while reading and watching the photos. A healthy person should feel at least some sorrow. That means his/hers brain responsible for empathy works fine.
  6. Probably early in the history of flying, well before any commercial flights, while it was still just a sports thing.
  7. I saw the funniest comment about this launch yesterday. Someone was asking if the launch was done in a rural area because of the water tower.
  8. Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy??????????
  9. I'm not crying, I have allergies! I'll probably have to deal with this several times myself in the next decade...
  10. RTG produces a lot of heat, so you need to radiate it away in vacuum, hence the radiator flaps. The unit must not be too close to the probe itself because it will affect the instruments with its gamma and beta rays, not to mention the heat rays. If you want gold wrap, install Procedural Parts mod. It has such texture for fuel tanks, structural elements, batteries, etc.
  11. I have no idea. Ask the admins, they post on the announcement sub-forum.
  12. Greetings from Mun's northern pole. Landing on the exact pole is obviously impossible, but I've tried anyway, without success.
  13. You should start by talking to Squad's forum profile. http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/members/68258-SQUAD It's the safest way. Good luck.
  14. I support this idea. The best chance is to talk to American astronauts who go to ISS.
  15. Congrats to German team, they've deserved this. Argentinian team behaved awful. The World Cup 2014 was a cacophony of stupid stuff, but yielded great laughs online.
  16. Average weight would be around several typical cars or a smaller bus. Dimensions are close to it, too.
  17. I can't wait for Ceres, either. It shoots out water vapor and has a lingering "atmosphere" around it. The surface is icy and contains reddish organic matter. Incredible dwarf planet, just look at it. 2015 will be awesome for space exploration.
  18. Well, that was boring, except the animation right after second stage ignition, which looked like the Kraken in KSP.
  19. Go, go, go! One minute. http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/#
  20. If you make an unique piece of art inspired by something and you want to sell it, it's ok. If you're making those pieces like car industry makes cars, it's illegal. Somewhere between is the (possibly) gray zone where the law can be used as one pleases. That's the common law. Morality, that's something else. Just give it some time. It will not be long before Chinese ripoff companies start making millions of them.
  21. That is true, but the least developed (average living standard, disregarding the extremely rich few) nations have the highest impact on the total number because they contain the most people. Just look at the people in Asia. Their numbers have increased insanely in the last decades. As far as I know, their growth rate is slowing down simply basically because of lack of resources as one of the most important factors. Taking wealthy nations into account just corrupts the conclusion. Their reasons for drop is the transition, but poor nations' reasons differ.
  22. Yes. If. No one can forbid you to make plushies and give them for free, but if you try to sell them, it starts getting complicated.
  23. Actually, the growth rate is slowing down. It's resource-dependant, just like with bacteria in a nutrient solution.
