That's an old wive's tale using a false premise that same should be treated with same. It will increase the total temperature of the body. Bodies have limits, feedback loops and variable responses, unlike simple heat engines. Drinking hot fluids on a hot summer day (especially if it's humid) is a great recipe for at least feeling awful and might trigger problems when the blood vessels dilate which causes pressure drop. Depending on one's body condition such as fitness, chronic illnesses, it could cause fainting or worse. Drinking especially cold fluids presents a shock for the body, too. Best thing is to drink mildly cold isotonic or hypotonic drinks.

It went to Moho's pole, south one, where nothing interesting exists. It was quite a short mission. Page 3 of the thread, I think.
-
1.0.2. because I finally got to see all the mods updated and I don't have the time to wait another month of two. I'm not missing anything.

Oh crap. http://img06.deviantart.net/2f8b/i/2013/031/a/4/pixel_piranha_plant_by_kingsorahearts-d5lrqws.png

I'd send a spiderlike robot there. Something that does not care much about flipping.
-
I think you're underestimating the albedo of these rocks.
-
The best we have is this, few years old. Expect better resolution nowdays, but nothing spectacular. And that's not a hologram. Holograms are illusions of 3D and require medium.
-
Nah, it's the real deal. http://photojournal.jpl.nasa.gov/catalog/PIA19584 I'd say it's albedo is similar to these rocks'.
-
Even less exposed photo of the spots.
-
I always wait with these things.

[1.12.x] Heat Control - More radiators! (August 18, 2024)
lajoswinkler replied to Nertea's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Also, to have zero mass battery with infinite energy capacity. And if nothing would get damaged when it hits the ground. -
Re entry don't affect flight almost non at all :-(

Crank it up to 120% and install Deadly Reentry. Yes, direct interplanetary aerobraking after a Hohmann transfer is possible, but you need to do it carefully. - - - Updated - - - Crafts are not meant to perform reentries like that, and anything flimsy on them will get torn away. It's called realism and the more of it the better (unless it's really hardcore). -
It takes a bit more than 4 years to reach Urlum using Hohmann transfer. Total time spent will be less than 10 years which is kind of a top limit for Kerbals spending in space for me. I've visited Neidon using a probe on a hyperbolic trajectory. It's manageable, but to bring a 3.75 m science ship there... I'm not even sure if nuclear thermal engines will be able to do it. I'd really like to use them again (because that's what Kron ships are), but if it proves to be an insane task, I'll have to go with some kind of magnetoplasmadynamic engine. This latest mission will give some valuable numbers and experience to compare with Kron 3 mission to Sarnus system. I'm planning on visiting Plock, too. By the time I finish Kron 5 and Neidon, Outer Planets Mod will update Plock based on New Horizons data. It could happen in autumn. Kerty is a well behaved computer. You see he's smiling. Can't be paranoid or evil.

Thanks. The next ship will either have to use a highly eccentric elliptical orbit touching Neidon's SOI, or a hyperbolic trajectory. That opens up a problem of slowing down at the destination. Heatshield would not be enough, so I guess a combination of active and aerobraking would be used. Travelling back is also a huge problem, even larger than getting to Neidon. I doubt refueling would help a lot unless I grind it, which is not my thing.

Parachute Safety
lajoswinkler replied to Minimalist's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
It already has different colors to it. Yellow means something like "can't do it yet because we're moving upwards". Your idea of visual indication is very good, though. -
I wouldn't go that far. Those are special properties of each body. One doesn't have to be able to reach every corner of the system as soon as they start playing, and some places should put a player through hell to reach them.

Stop messing with Physics Please
lajoswinkler replied to Rixsaw's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I don't have a degree in Aerospace Engineering. I just don't build stupid looking stuff. If you can't handle few simple rules of aerodynamics and Newtonian mechanics, don't play the game. Are you weeping over the fact one needs to know basic orbital mechanics to play this game? If you do, there are plenty of games with toddler-level fun time out there. -

Wow, so much butthurtness. What Squad did was absolutely a positive move. They added basic approximations of heat transmission, aerodynamics (could be better but it's great compared to earlier games). I've played this game since v.0.18. and, ignoring the minor adjustments with adding heat shields, I've never had a craft that couldn't fly. People, learn to fly planes and rockets. What Squad is doing is approaching the realism. It is not giving us Wackyland physics, it's merely making things more realistic. If you build your crafts with realism in mind, they will not break and they will fly. I'm so sorry that you can't fly your horribly antiaerodynamically made crafts through the atmosphere, but guess what - this is Kerbal Space Program. Reserve such crafts for orbiting. If you can't endure few tens of kilometres while you climb through the air, don't play this game. Speaking as someone who uses a hefty amount of mods - all these updates make the modders smash their heads with bricks, and it would usually break modded games, but on a serious legitimate (and legal) note - that's not Squad's bussiness and this is a different problem from the one I described above.
