  1. Yeah, mine crashes when it tries to load the Giga dish. Huge pity, because I love this mod, hopefully it'll be back up and running soon
  2. I had to turn the white parachute into an early-opening drogue in the cfg file, as an engineering solution/cheat, as Jeb's capsule was out of electricity, and with Deadly Reentry installed, if it entered the atmosphere tumbling, it would have burned up. The drogue went up in flames at about 19000m, but by that stage the worst of the reentry heat was over, and the capsule could ride it out till reserve chute deployment without cooking Jeb alive. One of my prouder moments in KSP (even though all I did was change a number and hit space a few times!)
  3. And you could view the photos you'd taken in the Science Archives. I love it!!
  4. I EVA between command modules and landers for most lander missions, which is enough of a use of it for me!
  5. I try not to stack, but sometimes there's limited clipping, as I use a cubic strut and a ram intake to approximate a radial ram intake, which I feel is a part the game is missing slightly. That said, I've never gotten an SSTO spaceplane into orbit with FAR!
  6. Well KSP's navigation instruments for planes are hardly advanced: "eyeball position of runway, get it 5 degrees off, cartwheel into a crumpled ball of metal and death"... Which reminds me, I'd love to see better landing indicators for planes, tell you when you're lined up with the runway and the like.
  7. I think alternate runways and launch sites would make things a little interesting (although it might make exploring Kerbin and gathering science a little less of a challenge, maybe you'd have to "discover" the inland space centre, the island runway, desert airstrip, Ice Station Kebra... before you could launch from there?)
  8. I think that's very Kerbal. Your crew land the ship half way around Kerbin? They have to pay for a taxi all the way back to KSC (the space program won't shell out!). You want that lab module back though, you're paying for it.
  9. I'm sure it's been said before, but there doesn't have to be a "why". (Unless by "why" you actually mean "how". There's definitely a "how" out there waiting to be found)
  10. I've used it and the radial ant engines on a skycrane for a small rover I dropped off to the Mun. It sorely needed either more thrust or fuel though, you had to time the burn exactly right or you'd be eating Mundust at 80m/s. I had a success rate of 1 in 4 landings before I decided my piloting skills were never going to be good enough to land it with any sort of regularity. It did make for some very cheap missions though. Almost 1000 science from the one rover that made it and pottered round the edge of the East Crater for a while, and it was able to get there on top of a horribly underpowered rocket
  11. MP would be kind of fun though, I like the idea of collaborating with my friends to build massive space stations and bases. I just don't have the patience to do all the launches myself!!
  12. As an option, yes, but reentry heat is a huuuuuge part of spaceflight. People might as well complain that the lack of infinite fuel makes the game too hard!
  13. I put resources, but only because I've nae pals!
  14. Here, you guys, Libertarianism just hasn't been given enough of a chance. Sure, it's been a social disaster every time people have tried to implement it even a little bit, but once the Police Department Inc. bring in a £20-per-prevented-mugging fee (payable within 5 working days, try our easy payment plan! Discount for muggings only partially prevented.), then the trickle-down of wealth will really start. We don't need no Gummint!
  15. Not quite, it will suffer far less of a shock when dropped from the same height because of the lower gravity, but momentum (which is what really causes the damage) is related to your mass and the speed you're going, no matter what the gravity is where you are.
  16. Every time someone asks, it's pushed back one hour!
  17. It's a fairly small one, but I'd like Crowd Sourced Science Logs to be put into the game. Any extension of variety is a good thing as far as I'm concerned, and it makes sense for Squad to use the imagination of the (very intelligent and well informed) community to do what is a difficult job for a small team like they have
  18. No, no, if you throttle down at any point, you're playing KSP wrong!!
  19. Large tethered structures rotating in low-earth orbit would find it hard to keep a stable orbit due to fluctuations in gravity between the two ends, making station keeping difficult, although by no means impossible. However, in interplanetary space, tethering the command module to, say, a spent booster and spinning them up to speed seems an ideal way of providing gravity for long trips. As for the strength of the cable, it doesn't need to be crazy, simply strong enough to hold the weight of the capsule on earth.
  20. That makes a whole heck of a lot more sense! Put a treadmill on one side of the centrifuge, have a counterbalance (a rowing machine or whatever) at the opposite point, and have it set up so if you want to run, you program it in advance so the centrifuge has time to pump counterbalancing fluid to the other side.
  21. On that subject, I wonder are there any moons in the solar system that could have been aerocaptured, some of the smaller Jovian or Saturnian ones perhaps
  22. I haven't tried it myself, but saw this plugin mentioned in another thread. Looks pretty cool! http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/49216-0-22-Persistent-Trails-record-share-and-replay-track-data!-%281-0-1%29
