  1. I really wish Jool looked more like Jupiter, with swirling cloud patterns and whatnot. Either that or they should add thin rings to make it resemble Uranus and Neptune.
  2. My current project is to build a spaceplane that can land there and return to orbit. Which is pretty hard considering I suck at making planes.
  3. I've never really liked one-use rockets in the real world, so for my first manned mission to Duna I decided to go big. I assembled a massive interplanetary spaceship at my orbital fuel depot through eight launches (not including countless failed prototypes), dubbed it the K.S.V. Intrepid, undocked from the station, set up my maneuver node, and engaged the engines. The ensuing explosion vaporized most of the ship, killed all ten crew members, and heavily damaged the space station itself. The next day I built a conventional rocket and made it to Duna and back with fuel to spare. Go figure.
  4. I used to be opposed to getting mods, but after downloading B9 Aerospace I can't get enough of them. Too bad they always crash the game on me five minutes after loading.
  5. I always have trouble getting that to work. Even if I can get the periapsis where I want it from orbiting the Sun, when I enter the target's SOI the periapsis is nowhere near where I had it before. I don't understand it.
  6. Getting Jeb, Bill and Bob home after an accident forced them to abandon ship in Kerbin orbit. That was the first time I was able to successfully make an orbital rendezvous.
  7. They didn't, so I copied them over and now the parts are all there. Thank you so much!
  8. Thanks for the link, but it didn't change anything. My results are the same as when I merged them manually.
  9. Already tried that; see step 3. (the second one) I did the same thing with the Textures_Reduced contents; the game loads fine but the new parts are nowhere to be found. See steps 5 and 6. I appreciate the help, though.
  10. Okay, I'm having problems installing this and I'm not sure what to do. Here's a step-by-step walkthrough of what I did: 1) I downloaded and un-zipped the mod. 2) Dragged the Ships and GameData folders into the KSP_osx folder and overwrote the corresponding ones. 3) Loaded the game up (after duplicating my saves as a precaution). The new parts are all there as far as I can tell (and they look pretty awesome!), but the Squad stock parts are all gone. 3) I re-installed the game and re-downloaded the mod. This time, instead of over-writing the folders, I opened them and dragged the new stuff into the GameData and Ships folders that came with the game. 4) Loaded the game up. It is unable to get past the loading screen; stuck on the Mk 1 cockpit. 5) Opened the readme and followed its advice: I replaced GameData from the root folder with the one from the Textures_Reduced folder. 6) Loaded the game up. It opens fine, but none of the new parts are there. 7) Re-installed and re-downloaded the mod and the game. Awaiting instructions. Please help!
  11. Those all look amazing; great work! Is it possible we might get an NX-class (as in NX-01 Enterprise) somewhere down the line? Also, what mod did you use to get the Jupiter-looking Jool in the OP?
  12. Approaching Eve. Home sweet home. An adorable picture of Jebediah as he takes his first steps on Minmus.
  13. Resource mining, clouds on planets with atmospheres, and a ringed gas giant beyond Jool. And some asteroids and/or comets, if possible. Oh, and biomes for all the planets and moons.
  14. My desktop picture, taken by the Jebediah 4 probe.
  15. Very nice! Some of the camera shots were a bit repetitive, but other than that it was great. How did you get the camera at all those awesome angles? I'd love to know how to do that.
  16. Very nice pics! I agree a ringed gas giant is a must, though I'd make it light purple like this (but with more defined rings, of course). A super Earth (Neptune-sized terrestrial planet) would be awesome, especially if it looked like Aelion. Naturally it would have lots of moons. Though I'm not sure it would be possible to return from the surface. Kyrian might work better in a different star system, if the devs ever add one. Two habitable bodies in one solar system is enough; three would be overkill. One idea I had, though I'm not sure if it's possible, would be to have a cluster of dwarf planets (or maybe asteroids) in a shared orbit. One planet with a few similarly sized moons, each with a few of their own similarly sized moons. All of them roughly 50 km across. Those would be pretty challenging to land on, and the view from the surface would be amazing.
  17. I've gotten a few probes to do flybys, but I always run out of fuel before I can circularize the orbit. Still working on it, though!
  18. Here's what I mean: As you can see, I've unlocked Electronics and Advanced Flight Control and I have more than enough science points. And I've seen the option to unlock it there before. And here it is after I reload the game:
  19. What about a clump of small dwarf planets (Gilly-sized) that orbit around each other? Those would be difficult to land on.
  20. That's a great idea! Especially for ships that aren't design for returning to Kerbin.
  21. I agree, bases and space stations need some purpose for scientific gain. Maybe some science parts that work passively and gain science points the whole time they're in orbit.
