  1. Here, you can post the most emotional, heart-wrenching speeches you can make for any scenario. It may be congratulatory - celebrating the resounding success of that mission to Laythe. It may be some sort of a public announcement - informing the public that you just lost contact with 3 kerbals who were supposed to land on the Mun, and (falsely) reassuring the public that you were doing the best you can to rescue them. Or it may be something that commemorates the legacy of a fallen Kerbal - how you want them to be remembered and telling the world how they died valiantly for the betterment of Kerbalkind. The floor is yours people. Share and care! ...I regret to inform you that as of 4:57 this morning, we've lost contact with Kerpollo 13...
  2. Is this some sort of journal for the said Kerbal? This might get moved to the Fan Works board.
  3. In this thread, you can share your absolute badass moment in the game. Was your SSTO heading towards the ground and bailed out at the last moment? Found a way to get back home amidst the overwhelming odds? Or maybe just did something that made you feel like this... Share them right here!
  4. I haven't had that issue with the weights on the wheel during my test. Great attempt but you can only connect the rover via the docking port. Nothing else. That provides another challenge in itself. During my tests, I go too fast and the weight behind me pushes me suddenly off track. BTW, do you use Kerbal Joint Reinforcement? Like what? It should. Nope. Only the docking port.
  5. The craft themselves dont have the exact specified weight although it's just a matter of decimals. If you use MechJeb or Engineer, check the starting weight, build your rover, check weight again and do the math.
  6. Fuel dont seem to flow from the tanks when I was testing. But you can still double check for good measure. These are independent crafts. I could try uploading them as subassemblies but you could always build from the weight's docking port for optimal alignment.
  7. I guess I'll go make a separate leaderboard for FAR users. Or maybe add the *FAR* tag to the names of those who use it.
  8. WELCOME to the SUPER ROVER-PULL CUP 2014 Introduction: If real world has tractor pulling, then KSP has rover-pulling! In this challenge, you must build a rover that's subject to a weight limit that can in turn pull a specified weight. Simple right? Not! There are 3 Weight Classes to compete in: Heavyweight (83T), Super Heavyweight (166T), Ultra Heavyweight (250T). Each weight division has its own leaderboards. Mechanics: Pick your weight division and download the craft file for that division. The craft files go into your SPH folder. No other weights are allowed except for the provided craft files. The wheels for the weights have been disabled and steer-locked. It's supposed to stay that way. Tampering with the weight is prohibited. Build a rover that can pull the weight in your desired division. Rovers themselves CANNOT EXCEED 7 TONS. Rovers are not allowed to have any solar panels or RTGs. Pack what you can in that 7 ton limit! The rover is connected to the weight by means of docking ports. Direct attachment is NOT ALLOWED. Before your attempt starts, make sure the brakess are engaged or the weight craft secured with launch clamps. Rover wheels are known to roll forward on their own even with no power. Once your rover disassembles or runs out of resources, IMMEDIATELY log your Total Distance Traveled via F3. Unfortunately with that wheel bug, momentum can go infinite. Screenshots (or even videos) of your attempt are required. Your rover, its weight, and of course the final distance log. Mods that alter rover wheel performance such as TV Aerospace parts are NOT ALLOWED! DOWNLOAD WEIGHTS HERE! Heavyweight (83 Tons) Super Heavyweight (166 Tons) Ultra Heavyweight (250 Tons) LEADERBOARDS Heavyweight Division 1. 2. 3. Super Heavyweight Division 1. mangekyou-sama, 130M 2. 3. Ultra Heavyweight Division 1. 2. 3. ACHIEVABLE ACHIEVEMENTS NO FUEL, NO PROBLEM - Achieve a distance greater than 2000M using only wheels. GO THE DISTANCE - Traverse the whole length of the KSP runway! GO THE DISTANCE...AND BACK - Traverse the whole length of the KSP runway and reverse all the way back to starting point! LIGHTWEIGHT WARRIOR - Achieve a distance greater than 2000M using a rover under 3 Tons. Got ideas for more achievements? Feel free to suggest!
  9. Was testing my UNEX Arachne E003 which is a multipurpose rover. Can conduct science, towing and camera surveillance. It's the 3rd iteration of the said rover and still in experimental phase. Had to do revisions many times due to mass imbalance. I tested the rover by launching it to Mun orbit only to discover some serious issues. Few minutes after the launch, the separatron that was supposed to guide the skycrane away from the rover after Mun touchdown overheated. Upon reaching Mun orbit, I encountered serious maneuverability issues with the stage carrying the rover for final descent. Needs more reaction wheels I guess.
  10. I've just gotten the new version and boy it seems I've missed a freaking lot! I've yet to come up with a new naming scheme for my upcoming program but don't let that stop you from posting yours!
  11. First of all, thank you very much for this amazing plugin! Got a few questions though and I'm wondering if you guys could help me out. 1. What's the most efficient inclination I can send my probes into? Also, how many probes should I send up and at what altitude? --(I have like 3 probes with 3 different sensors slapped to them and I'm wondering if that's overkill) 2. When I'm in Big Map mode, my map shows up as blank and I'm not quite sure why. What type of sensor do I use to generate a biome map?
  12. Whether you're an amateur or a professional photographer by trade, or simply a KSP enthusiast, the wonders of space can't certainly be denied. And you will now capture it on film -errr - screenshot. This competition aims to showcase how skilled you guys are at composing pictures, and your ability to evoke emotions in your respective screenshots though of course its primary goal is to showcase the beauty of the KSP universe. THEME: "Beyond peril awaits true discovery" RULES: Submitted photos should revolve around the theme specified. Photos should be hi-res and can be captured by other screenshot programs if you think it'll help.(e.g. Fraps, DXtory, etc). Photos CANNOT be modified by any image-editing software (e.g. Photoshop, Gimp, Lightroom). One photo per post only. If you have multiple entries, post them in separate posts. Every entry submitted should have a title. You can include a small explanation about your photo in your post. Winners will be chosen before Feb. 1, 2014 and will receive a ribbon that I would design (hopefully it'll be nice enough for you). Users must specify whether picture was captured in STOCK or Universe Replacer Modded KSP. *if you think there should be a few change in the rules, please let me know* Get posting and Good Luck!
  13. Builds from 0.21.1 onwards may count. I don't know how that mod works but as long as the cores or parts are launched from Kerbin, it's fine
  14. With 2013 coming to an end, it would be a great idea to see the community's best made space stations in a bid to be called the Space Station of the Year 2013! Here are the rules: There's no exact weight limit as space stations are often just limited by your creativity. But we'll go for 50 tons as minimum weight. Space stations are often composed of individual "cores". Again, there's no limit on how many cores your space station will have. However, there will be a minimum of 7 cores. Absolutely NO Hyperedit. You can only assemble your space station by the traditional ground-to-orbit (Mechjeb assisted assembly is permitted) route OR if you have KAS and want to put additional parts on EVA. For submission, of course we need screenshots of the actual space station in its completed state, its assembly, the launch vehicles and if possible, plans (hand sketched or otherwise) if you've made any prior to its construction. You also need to discuss your space station in detail, its technical specifications, its features, etc. Convince us that it's the best. If we have enough entries, I will make a poll for the community to vote for the best space station. If you win, fame (or notoriety) shall be yours! Things to consider: Habitation - is your space station conducive for long periods of habitation? Does your space station come with a resident psychiatrist to deal with prolonged periods of social isolation? Supplies - yes we all heard that Kerbals can go hibernate and cannot starve to death. But given the case that they DO starve, how do you keep them fed? Safety - accidents do happen in space. Collisions with debris can happen and in space, no one can hear you scream. How do your kerbals escape from a depressurized space station and make it back to Kerbin in one piece? Evacuation pods and contingency plans are definitely key. Maneuverabilty - because space stations are often cumbersome and are a real pain to maneuver Usability - how useful is it? Space stations are basically the bus-stops for your other craft. It should be equipment for research purposes and more importantly, fuel depots for refuelling other ships. AND WITH THOSE THINGS IN MIND, LET THE CHALLENGE BEGIN!
  15. I have Aperturella Space Research Laboratories. You'll see its logo in my sig. I like to think that since it's a fusion of Aperture Science and Umbrella Corporation, it houses a massive underground complex. Dangerous pathogens and viruses are stored in the deepest chambers. The Space Center is merely a cover for its nefarious deeds
  16. So I'm currently building a car capable of reaching up to 60m/s (rover wheels from TV Aerospace). However, even with massive downforce in the front and rear, the car still rolls off to the side and flips over when I try to do some cornering (even with braking). Is there any way I can add a part (if any) which replicates the function of a sway bar and prevent my car from flipping? Will adjusting the camber (toe in/toe out) of the rover wheels help? Or do I just have to wait for the "tweakables" feature in the next update and just soften the springs? **I'll try to attach some pictures when I get back.
  17. With the dawn of the 0.22 update comes new plans! New programs! New missions! So let's go give this thread a friendly bump! With the recent acquisition of the assets of the Arstotzkan Cosmos Program by the Aperturella Space Research Laboratories, all existing missions of the past program were terminated (but not without the public crying out nonsense about wasted funds etc). Aperturella now hopes to surpass what the Arstotzkan program has achieved both in terms of technological advancement and efficiency. And here's what they have so far... Probes: AP-PRB Helen I - equatorial Kerbin orbit AP-PRB Helen II - polar Kerbin orbit AP-PRB Selene I - equatorial Mun orbit AP-PRB Selene II - polar Mun orbit AP-PRB Cassandra I - equatorial Minmus orbit Manned Missions: AP-ORB Argo I - 2nd manned orbit vessel AP-ORB Argo II - 3rd manned orbit vessel AP-ORB Protesilaus - the first manned vessel to orbit Kerbin Achilles Program AP-LDR Achilles I - first Munar landing; single stage AP-LDR Achilles II - second Munar landing; 2 stage AP-CMD Achilles III - failed landing due to design flaw; returned safely AP-LDR Achilles IV - 3rd Munar landing; same design as Achilles II Myrmidon Program AP-LDR Myrmidon I - first Minmus landing; design based on Achilles IV but more compact AP-LDR Myrmidon II Rovers: AP-ROV Luna I - first rover to land on Mun; skycrane assisted In service Mission Accomplished Mission Failed Under Development/Experimental Stage
  18. More planets, more systems, intergalactic travel (I wonder how much deltaV will that require), an alien planet with alien species inhabiting it, clouds, birds (some birds being churned by jet engines would be nice).
  19. Time to get creative fellow scientists! This is the thread where you recount the history of your space programs, how they began (and maybe collapsed), their triumphs and darkest hours. It will be entirely up to you how you present the story. It can either be a straightforward story, or maybe a series of diary entries. It's entirely your choice. So get posting!
