Possible to Save Ship from Persistence File?
Starwhip replied to inigma's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Can't you just rename the persistent file something like "TEST.sfs", make a new game Wait, you want the craft file. Try copy-pasting the CRAFT{...} part that applies to the ship into a new .craft file. Create a notepad document if you can, or any other simple text file, and rename the extension to .craft. You might want to make a .craft with just a capsule so that you can put the right starting info, instead of the orbit/speed stuff that a persist contains. EDIT: Hold on, I'll try it myself. Just gotta make a test craft. -
Keep navball up by default

100%. When would you ever need it down in the first place? -
EVE? What are you, crazy?! I'll need to make some better ships first. More Delta-V. Eve is not a friendly place for maneuvering. EDIT: Refit of the Kyrian class is progressing. Now to armor it.
-
Ooh, pretty! ONE problem: Your cockpit is showing. Not good. Here's a capture from another battle, me vs. Frozen_Heart, where the same problem was evident on his ship. The ship cracked in half, and was dead. ALSO: I've developed a new guided missile.
-
Wow. Those are pretty nice stats. However: The Lykotaek's I-Beam missiles are anything but "standard". They accelerate to kill speed (80 m/s) in under 30 meters. And their effective range is around 100 to 200 meters. And the Lykotaek has over 4,000 m/s of Delta V. But enough talk, we'll see on the battlefield, I suppose.

HAHA! The Lykotaek class corvette still works! (Also, Kessler Syndrome)

So I was just watching NASA TV and saw KSP...

*cough* I think he meant the Elon Musk thing. (I think.) -
Whoops! Sorry. Well, as long as I've still got a decent chance to defend myself, and you've got a decent chance to do some damage, multiple ships vs one/two of mine would work fine. The Lykotaek weighs in at 60 tons. So, if we went by tonnage, that would be 3 of your Zephyrs vs 1 Lykotaek. That's pulling the weapons capability rather slim: The Lykotaek only has 10 missiles. I don't know how many each of your ships has, but it's probably more. Somewhere between 10 and 15 total? See how this could be considerably unfair? As I said, we could figure it out once I see the craft specs of the Zephyr. EDIT: Jeez, I'm doing bad today. What planet? If you're thinking something easy, how about Minmus, Gilly or a small Joolian moon? I never got to do the Vall battle. Or we could do Eve/Kerbin, if you want something hard. Fighters the size of the Zephyr (17 tons, you said?) Are not typically prone to have large amounts of Delta-V.
-
@Tynton Roger that. I know how you feel, I've got stuff to do for school as well. @ScriptKitt3h: Okay, what tonnage, ship limit and body? EDIT: Yep, the Lykotaek class still works.
-
Yikes, only 17 tons? Hmm. Well, let me transfer my vessels and I'll check the masses. I don't think I'll be using the Pride of Kalzore for this one, but maybe 2 Lykotaek classes (The second ship) vs 3-4 of your ships? (You seem to have a slightly unfair advantage of 2:1. But hey, what the hell, right?)
-
OH NOES! I don't have the saves anymore! I'll have to rebuild those ships from scratch... Might take longer than expecte- WAIT!!! *checks Mediafire* HA! I've still got the .craft files!!! YEAH! Phew, almost blew a gasket there, those ships were hard to build.
-
Corvette engagement. Here's the gist of what you'll be up against. Armament in order of image: Pride of Kalzore: 8 I-Beam Missiles 6 Explosive Tip SRB Missiles Kiternyae: 8 I-Beam Missiles 2 SRB Armor Plate Missiles Spirion: 8 I-Beam Missiles (16? I can't remember. ) EDIT: Yep, 16 missiles.

Starwhip replied to sedativechunk's topic in KSP1 Discussion
So let me get this straight. First it was the Mars One promo video from who knows how long ago that showed KSP in the background. Then it was Elon Musk on Reddit. Now NASATV. What next, a US Congressional hearing?!? -
Yep! Kasper will be next.
-
I'm open and willing. However, I as well need to rebuild some of my fleet, though it mostly involves locating some old ships and copying them to my current install. (The Spirion needs a complete redesign... It wasn't very effective, though it could have been some crappy shooting. Eight I-beam missiles to destroy a single ship... But the Kiternyae and the Pride of Kalzore will be fully operational.) Give me a couple minutes to get you the tonnage, but it'll be around 100 tons, and 3-4 ships.

Yes, update 0.90.0 now requires you to research EVA suits by upgrading your Astronaut Complex. So, stuff like satellite deployment contracts are the name of the game until you've got the EVA capabilities, whereupon you can get EVA reports and surface samples. (Yes, the Elon Musk thing has been spreading like booster fuel, hasn't it? ) Hello, and welcome to the (indeed, awesome) forum!

Stock Aero News from the Squadcast
Starwhip replied to Alshain's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
One of my latest stock SSTO's has a 62% payload fraction. -
Ooh, with 0.90.0 out I can do this again! Time for a brand-new craft!

Yep. You've taken your first step. Now go take 500 more. SSTO's are more of a concept than a set build. Once you make your first, it suddenly becomes much, much easier. My most recent WIP is this one. It needs more jet thrust, though: the stock jets don't complement it. So far, the best SSTO I've made is this one. As you can see, it can get far. *Really* far... Eventually, you'll figure out the best SSTO methods for you. What I can give as advice is the following: -Crewless vessels are lighter -More jet engines are better, but require more intakes -Don't be ashamed to air-hog. -Give it more wings.

Now we need a "Say Hello to the Dark Red Group" thread.

I used to have ribbons in my signature... Then they went away. Wondering why I made the Forum BBCode tutorial? Let me show you. Here's my signature.
