So, I had a functioning SSTO plane in 1.0.2, but with the recent changes, it seems that pointing my nose at 35 degrees and firing engines until I am space doesn't seem to work anymore. Does anybody have a functioning (preferably LF-only) SSTO plane? What is your flight profile for it? How much LF do you carry?

Not all of us are DIY'ers, but your points are valid.

What paint program are you using for flags?

Paint. -
What's the most Kerbal thing you've done in real life?

Strange, unreadable message on Drill
spudman2 replied to johnnyhandsome's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
It says "No ground contact". It thinks your drills are spinning freely in the air. Also, your image is broken. -
It's official: Metallica's favorite engine is the turbofan Whiplash.

So, pollen comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes, as we've all read in those Nat Geo books we had as a kid. But does the shape do anything? Like, do bee-pollinated species have pollen that sticks better to bees than say, hummingbirds?

http://www.designboom.com/technology/ferrari-spaceship-concept-flavio-manzoni-05-07-2015/ It does look neat, I'll give it that, but... spoilers?

So, I've applied the fix lined out on page 1209, and now antimatter stuff and alcubierre stuff is available on my tech tree. However, when I place a single 1.25m antimatter tank in the VAB the ship's price goes to ~ negative 43 million. Similarly, when I launch a single such tank, about 43 million credits are added to the space center's account. I've checked the part files, and they say it should cost 20,000 credit things. Anybody have an idea as to what I broke?

Hey guys, I'm the sound tech for a play my college is doing and the director wants music over some of the scene changes. Thing is, she wants it to be non-vocal, upbeat but not dance-y, and from the 1950's. This is a set of criteria that narrows my search quite sharply, leaving me with not much in the way of songs to page through. So, I was wondering if any of you guys knew of any such music. (It actually doesn't NEED to be from the 1950's, just sound like it.)

But his name is Eeloo... And so is Eeloo's name.

It is possible to get a near-equitorial orbit with aerobraking. During a probe-to-eve mission I was doing I got it about 7 degrees inclination, which IMO is pretty good. I had your problem of too-low-for-gilly though, as well.

Ummm....? O.o

Yep, at about 21 seconds I heard the comms operator say "Stan, call 911" or something similar. Strange.

SRB Retro-rockets for cars as an emergency braking system?
spudman2 replied to szputnyik's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Why don't we mount SRBs for acceleration instead of deceleration? If you use them while trying to accelerate there's a much lower chance that you would hit someone in front of you. They'd have to be in front of you, which is the direction you're looking and acceleration, and you would be much more inclined to check if there was someone in front of you before pushing the button. -
What did you do that you didn't think would work?
spudman2 replied to kBob's topic in KSP1 Discussion
That... That is horrifying. -
Why doesn't CH4+2N2+7O2->4HNO3+CO2+1428 kJ/mol happen?
spudman2 replied to Pds314's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Or are humans like chemical reactions? Or is this an overarching rule behind the universe? -
Why doesn't CH4+2N2+7O2->4HNO3+CO2+1428 kJ/mol happen?
spudman2 replied to Pds314's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Umm, Nitrogen gas has an energy of formation of 0 kJ/mol. Crunching your numbers now... EDIt: Okay, here we go... All of this is in kJ/mol, btw (HNO3) 4 x 207 + (CO2) 393.5 = 1221.5 kJ/mol for the output products (CH4) 74.9 + (O2) 7 x 0 + (N2) 2 x 0 = 74.9 kJ for the input reactants 1221.5 - 74.9 = 1146.6 kJ/mol Somebody check this for me, but I'm fairly certain that it's right... And Raven, the methane would be more likely to burn with the oxygen, but I see no reason why there can't be a non-water containing reaction that produces Nitric Acid... -
@Dominatus Wow... That's... That's me. You are me. Hi. How's archery? Do you use a sight or shoot instinctive?
-
@DonLorenzo Your craft is moving at 1/30c, which means that gas particles are hitting you at 1/30c. It would be like trying to get lift from the bullets a wall of machine guns is shooting at you. Which is also a thing I really want to do now.
