  1. Yeah, I was hoping that all the "OMG, we're working on something cool, we're just not gonna tell you..." hype inducing fluff would've ended with the release of "1.0". Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy riddles and guesstimation as much as the next person. However, I find the continuous over-hyping of every "featurette" or "secret business deal" in the devnotes (solely for promotional reasons it seems) is getting quite tiresome and somewhat distasteful. EDIT: Also, still no news on the additional pilot, scientist and engineer skills and the "something rhyming with schmelta vee" that was hyped up over 4 months ago.
  2. That's right, people are probably just out buying PS4s.
  3. It is a confirmed bug which is listed with critical priority in in the official KSP bug tacker. This was mentioned earlier in this thread here. Not at all, since early 2015 I've been considering anything that Kasper mentions on the forum as a early/late April fools joke
  4. I had a similar experience during my PhD in microbiology, however, I applied the Kerbal method more in daily lab behaviour than actual PhD oriented experiments (didn't quite have that freedom officially). - Strategically placed eppendorf tubes filled with liquid nitrogen at room temperature turned out be a reliable way to keep fellow scientists on their toes. - Genetically engineered bacteria producing recombinant green and red fluorescent proteins painted on an agar plate proved to be a great and festive alternative birthday card. - I may or may not have drunk approx. 200 ml autoclaved liquid LB medium during a midnight lab experiment cause I ran out of snacks.
  5. Yes, it has a confirmed status in the KSP bug tracker (#5024), has critical priority and looks like it's currently being worked on (work started 21-05-15 and it's 10% done). I would like to hope so as well, however it's just an assumption. Particularly since Kasper mentioned this on Squads behalf.
  6. I think the chances of getting hit by a radioactive meteor causing nuclear fallout are quite slim, unless there is another form of fallout I'm not aware off (very likely). Still, not having any off-site or cloud based backups of your main source of income is tempting the Kraken... surely Squad can find a nice online backup system that is Kraken proof (ink cloud storage?... anyone?) Also, any dev comments on whether the memory leak will be fixed in 1.0.3 would be very welcome indeed.
  7. Yes, there will always be people that will be outraged about any change. However, that doesn't mean the recent "incident" could have been largely prevented if the following chain of events would have been different: 1. KSP players are anxiously awaiting an update for KSP 1.0.x to solve some critical issues in the current/released version 2. Devnotes are coming up, after 2 weeks of slow news people are eagerly awaiting anything new 3. KasperVld starts hyping dev notes, which will be late but with in.cre.di.ble news 4. As one can expect by now, the KSP player base (composed largely non-console players, please correct me if I'm wrong) gets extremely hyped up 5. Devnotes are posted... not much dev or notes, only a marketing announcement 6. Squad doesn't supply any additional information. Players are confused particularly since it now seems development===PS4, whereas many issues (including several critical ones) still exist in the current=released version. 7. Mayhem ensues 8. Max and Kasper try to control the damage to no avail, finally Harv posts an article a day later on KSP development and several details and potential implications of the PS4 port. Had the proper devnotes been posted before (i.e. Harv's article), with the appropriate details on a PS4 port, or if the PS4 announcement had been posted in the announcement section (seems kinda logical) without any falsely advertised dev note hype, I'm sure the community's reaction would have been a lot more nuanced (apart from the eternal whiners mentioned by RIC above). The point is, promotional stuff or anything not directly related to development of KSP the game does not belong in the dev section. Max himself said that he's not a dev so give him his own section (Merchandise Mondaystm?) where he can hype up all the "amazing stuff he's working on" without the false dev advertisements leading on the community. TL;DR PR is important for any company. Squad please look into improving your PR and communication... promotional stuff/marketing is not PR. EDIT1: I also fully agree with the OP EDIT2: Additionally, a 1.0.3 quickfix for the memory leak would've been nice
  8. I think it'd be better off with a [h=3]Chris Sawyer[/h] Career mode plays like a jumbled mess of separate features, not like an integrated tycoon style system where the player has to invest, construct and maintain infrastructure throughout the solar/kerbolar system to overcome the next barrier in space exploration. Judging by the incoherence and random implementation of career features during the various stages of KSP development, it seems that Squad never fully thought through the gameplay aspects of career mode. There have been some amazing suggestions in the Suggestions and Discussion forum, however, it seems communicating with Squad is a real Kobayashi Maru
  9. Then perhaps Max's promotional stuff should be moved from Dev Tuesdays to for instance Merchandise Mondaystm, so we don't get any of these falsely advertised* dev notes again. Back OT, does anyone know whether PS4 players will be able to exchange their creations with PC players and vice versa? *get it? Ok, I'll let myself out...
  10. Please not this... I have enough Krakens visiting my game at the moment, even without the one on Bop. Reference?
  11. With over a million sales solely on steam pre 1.doh, I don't think money has been an impeding factor for development. Amazingly, we ve only seen the core team shrink lately, whereas they could do with a couple of extra hands fixing/finishing the game (preferably software engineers experienced in bug squashing, optimisation, tycoon game design, gui design, managing software projects and evaluating valuable community feedback... Also optimisation... And bug squashing).
  12. Hmmmm, I guess it could be one of Kaspers April fools jokes... That would make more sense at least.
  13. Hyping up your dubious decisions again Squad? *sigh*... Please fix/complete this game first. Also actual devnotes would be nice.
  14. I hope it's the first step towards a career mode that actually makes sense, with actual time based overhead costs and incentive to invest in solar system infrastructure. For example, surveying planets for rare kirrimdium deposits, setting up a mining site and flying back a cargo load full to Kerbin for big $ profits or manufacturing exotic engines (and the ability to automate, this is kerbal space program after all).
  15. Guess again... They're in the WTC of Amsterdam, lol (the address is Strawinskylaan 1431, Amsterdam. Google maps is your friend). I was also expecting a dodgy storefront THB
  16. Here's a link to a Dutch overview site of Deported B.V.: http://drimble.nl/bedrijf/amsterdam/31464408/deported-bv.html As Zucal mentioned aboved the site states that Deported BV's main investor is Parallel Dynamics S.A. de C.V., located in Mexico City. I can't seem to find anything on Parallel Dynamics based in Mexico online. However, Deported BV was setup the 22nd of Jan 2015, +/- 1 day before the announcement of KSP going gold. The Netherlands has been reported as the largest tax haven for US companies, most likely SQUAD is looking to get the most out of their kredits. Also, since tax havens provide little or no financial information to foreign tax authorities this may circumvent any potential affluence related problems in Mexico as Maxmaps pointed out in the past. I live quite nearby Deported BV, might drive by for a gander... EDIT, scratch that, it's in the World Trade Centre of Amsterdam
  17. Im convinced it's radiators or some other kind of active heat management. Roverdude used multiple temperature related references in his reply on the matter and its something much needed with the introduction of the new heat system in 1.0.x.
  18. Thanks for the update team! Good to hear about the thorough 1.0.3 experimentals. No rush, take your time to get it right!
  19. The fuel lines are not processing correctly (check your video). You might want to fix this and double check your software/plugins/videos before release in the future.
  20. Quite optimistic indeed... does the Gamer's Edition come with RSS? I agree with the general sentiment that Val should have been part of this. Also, can we get some actual pics of the model/figurines? I'm not a big fan of spending $80 based on clipart representations of the actual product.
  21. You're not the only one, an overwhelming part of the community expressed their concerns about Squads decision to push a release version after just one beta iteration. Whatever Squad's motivation was, we have a "1.0" version now... I just hope they're taking a much needed step back now, think carefully and rationally about the future of KSP and evaluate the mess associated with rushing updates... at least with 1.0.3 it seems they are trying their best to get the aero/re-entry balance right... so who knows, we might actually get a proper beta version soon
  22. Thanks so much Alex and all the best with whatever you'll get up to next! Thanks for taking the time to get 1.0.3 right Squad, please consider doing this for future updates as well.
  23. This is my view of 1.0 as well.
  24. The MPL is not OP, career is... Since you don't have any daily/weekly/monthly costs you can just timewarp without consequence. I hope Squad fixes this in the future so career will put the "program" part into Kerbal Space Program. Your exact question about the MPL thing is currently discussed here if you're interested
  25. ^THIS^ is the critical problem of KSP career, the MPL is not. We need proper tycoon style management of an actual space program with monthly resource/fund overhead. Currently there are no interesting elements of managing a space program: no budgets, no mission proposals, no higher-ups to get approval from, no salaries, no incentive for solar system infrastructure (though the MPL is a start) etc... just some unrelated game concepts including one-off costs, bits of non-immersive grind contracts and pointless strategies randomly flung together to allow the player to grind their way to money... Atm it's more Kerbal Space Mission than Kerbal Space Program.
