  1. Believe it or not, I've finally finished the Short film/cinematic! All thanks to this thread! It's 10 minutes long and tells the story of how three survivors of a holiday gone horribly wrong: make it back to Kerbin.
  2. Coming from someone who's also done alot of cinematics, I think these effects were pretty good. However if I were to insert them into a piece then I would try to make them a bit more subtle
  3. I have a variety channel (that's just verging on 270 subscribers) that's centered around KSP. My most popular series is a kerbal military series, in which I protect kethane colonies, while my other series is one in which I produce a cinematic every few weeks. I suppose it's exclusive to my cinematic thread at the moment but I thought I'd share a work in progress that I'm filming right now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSJmUMwyU5E
  4. Hey, I've already posted this on youtube but I'd like to know where you get that great music from. Especially the piece in the opening bumper: as I'm actually working on a cinematic in which I think there is a scene that would fit with the track quite nicely.
  5. But how does he board the other ship if it's capsule has been destroyed? Not to mention we can't forget Bob, who is also on the station.
  6. Hey, if you happen to succeed, then send me the ship files as I'd quite like to have a go at this as well.
  7. QUICKFIRE ROUND: Jeb and Bob are trapped in a fragment of a station crashing into the surface of Moho, they have other ships attached to their station fragment and one of them has a single engine remaining. What does Jeb do to secure a (barely) survivable landing?
  8. Before I got to see this post I'd already found myself at the main titles and consequently named the project "S T R A N D E D". Although short this name comes in to it's own after the first minute or so of the cinematic
  9. Here it is, the first (work in progress) shots of the new cinematic. I'm thinking of actually turning this into a full cinematic as the story line that I'm developing is pretty intricate. While I'm working on making this thing, I shall give 100 golden SRB's to the man (or woman) who can give me a good name for the cinematic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSJmUMwyU5E
  10. Well I suppose it would be interesting to have a go at that but unfortunately it looks like the part count would be over 9000
  11. In the cinematic business we use kerbcam (a mod) to get those smooth shots
  12. YES. Pure genius in mere words.
  13. I don't know about doing a cinematic based on a historical event, the thing with doing a fictional story is that you can do whatever you want: without any constraints on creativity. Although an amazing occurrence, that I will no doubt produce a cinematic of in the future, Apollo 13 just isn't what I'm looking for. I'm in need of a stencil that I can, more or less, "colour in" and produce a cinematic out of that original idea.
  14. At the moment I'm busy grinding the cogs in my head, trying to think of what I should do for a cinematic. The filming and general artsy type stuff is the easy part, however getting a spark to get your brain whirring is not. So if you have any ships you want to see in a cinematic and you have a loose idea of a story then I'm up for it! I'm aiming around 2 minutes 30 seconds so make whatever your thinking of into a quick short (skipping out scenes that do nothing but bring context is generally how I roll). I must add that this thread is indeed opensource, so if you see an idea you like then you can pinch it and turn it into a cinematic yourself. Here's some work, I did not to long ago, if you want to be sure that your idea/ship is going to a good cause: ( )PS: I'm not sure if this should be in mission control or not, but then again I'm not exactly showcasing my work, purely setting up a thread for people to share ideas for cinematics. UPDATE ------------------------------ Here's the first cinematic to come out of this thread! Stranded
  15. Nice to get some advice, I actually use adobe suite but the same technique apply's. Anyway, that's also a relief because, as you probably know, kerbcam uses chase mode so getting a moving shot while the craft is spinning is almost impossible. So thanks for the tip
  16. Great work, looking forward to the next episode I know this could be considered as plugging, but since you look like a pretty senior cinematic producer, what do you think of mine? and something else I did including a quote by Carl Sagan:
  17. You can use whatever parts you please, providing it looks like a Christmas tree of course. But in terms of the massless parts: I'm afraid I had to use them as I-beams have an odd glitch where they make the ship do a somersault when you arrange them in a spiked formation; However this is more of a challenge of the ability to apply theory in order to get around the logistics of transporting, and landing, a Christmas tree on Minmus. Not to mention it's really fun
  18. Just finished off a short cinematic which is more of a test of colour grading than anything else, however the cinematics at the end of my kethane station/war series have had increasing popularity, so I thought I'd share this quick demo here. Hoping that somebody might enjoy it, not to mention this is also a bit of an introduction to my channel for any newcomers.
  19. As the title suggests, I'm looking to see who can get the tallest Christmas Tree on Minmus; Spreading Festive joy throughout the cold and frozen moon! The challenge is simple, you build a Christmas tree (yes, you can build it in orbit), measure the amount of small I-beams that it's equivalent to and land it on Minmus! RULES -------------------- Any cheats like Hyper-edit are banned. All infinite fuel cheats are banned. You must only measure what is actually going to land on the surface of Minmus. Mechjeb is allowed. Aviation (Christmas) Lights are allowed. -------------------- SCORING -------------------- A point for every small I-beam tall your tree is, please be sensible and don't just make a ginormous pole with bits sticking out of it and call that a tree. -------------------- As you'd expect, I've made a stab at the challenge which you can watch here. It's basically a starter just to set what you need to beat. Speaking of Videos, in order to make a valid entry: supplying a set of pictures or a video is needed. HatBat. Good Luck, I'll see you on Minmus! PARTICIPANTS (so far) ---------------------- HatBat - 4.66 ---------------------- [MY ENTRY] (My entry is worth 4.66 points)
  20. I got your back Rune Consejos vendo y para mí no tengo Advice I sell and for myself have none This one reproaches the person who has advice for everyone except for himself. Also, some people would do well by heeding the excellent advice they so generously extend to others.
  21. I don't know if this bug is just for me or not but upon entering other SOI's the cannons break and fire in random directions. Here are the details.
  22. As the title suggests. I'm wondering what the spec factor is (etc: RAM, Processor, Graphics Card) that helps you load more parts in KSP. A quick response would be great!
