  1. kinda like a jumbo version of philae's lander screws, - - - Updated - - - Do the drills actually hold in place? Or are they functionally just legs whose drill bits have no collision mesh?
  2. It's really difficult to kill things in this game. Between revert and quicksave, you really gotta eff up bad to actually ruin a mission.
  3. Is that the case? Does that mean inline parts that overheat behind other parts are really just being heated by the parts ahead of them, and not the atmosphere hitting them themselves?
  4. Now we don't need to! But yeah, really good update, I'm happy to see this.
  5. Sure, but so is the odometer, and unless the red zone of the g-force gauge actually represents a "rocket breaking point", which I'm skeptical it does, it's not a helpful gauge.
  6. It may be worth removing the gauge sooner than later if there's no plan to introduce pilot health/support, since it probably confuses new players who think it actually does something.
  7. I know Squad doesn't seem to like the gameplay element of pilot health, life support, etc. but it makes the g-force gauge look vestigial as it is.
  8. I get far more satisfaction launching, docking and hitting node windows by hand over letting MechJeb do it, but I can also see how some people see certain motions boring enough to want to automate them. *shrug*
  9. the "dip ascent to break mach wall then softly climb again to escape" part of SSTOs has been a hard thing for a lot of players to grasp forever. it's just that 1.0.x has made it so now you can't just brute your way through this detail like you could in the soup, and now players who previously just slapped more intakes/engines onto their SSTO get into space think something's broken. "you have to go down to go up" "no squad just nerfed <SSTO element> into the dirt, it's broken" edit: although admittedly there seems to be drag issues with many-part wings
  10. Yeah, I'm all for fixing this tiny bug, but the idea of tossing out, "They missed this glaring oversight, who knows what else the may've mucked up! Really testing us here, Squad," is some teen-drama drudgery. Submit a bug ticket and go outside, kids.
  11. I'm kind of curious what the drag is with this build without the landing I beams. I mean this is how it should behave, but part of me thinks it's a bug that just happens to otherwise make a profile behave like it should. Either way, really interesting find.
  12. The aero/atmos overhaul has been long overdue. It's not that they've "shifted focus onto something other than space", it's that they're circling back and fixing [big] things now that all the primary elements have been added. I'm sure they'll flesh out space and other elements soon enough. Aero's just the topic right now, and thank god for that.
  13. It's the, "I hate this game now, I can't win anymore. *flips game board off the table*" crowd. Don't worry about em.
  14. Thanks for this. I guess 1.0.1 was a big fix, I don't know why I assumed it was as tiny as 1.0.2.
  15. I feel like these patches were kind of snuck in. I have a general idea of what they addressed, but there's been no blog post, nor a [detailed] Steam news update, so I'm curious what the details are.
  16. "<Element> isn't as easy as it used to be, so it sucks now."
  17. I can't be the only one thrilled at the idea of all my old understanding of the game's mechanics being thrown out the window and essentially being able to play the game again like it was my first day. Having it easy and knowing everything was getting really tired.
  18. I wasn't even suggesting bugs don't exist, or that this wasn't a bug. Just that, less than 24 hours into an update like, let's cool the, "This update is a huge let down, everything's effed up," jets a bit. Give it a bit, chill.
  19. While I agree there's plenty of tweaking Squad has on its plate now that 1.0's released, you guys all saying, "My approaches aren't working, something must be broken. I'm real familiar with NEAR/FAR/whatever, so I'd know," is just hilarious. Like, spend more than 24 hours with the update and learn how it handles before you cry broken.
  20. Yes they do. Because they're divisive and speculate on demographic value when really there's no need for 'accuracy' beyond being happy KSP is a game everyone can feel comfortable playing. - - - Updated - - - honestly, the amount of tribalism that comes from meaningless definition like "who plays this game" is completely unnecessary and only stands to pin stars on some players shirts and others not.
  21. i don't know who started the game<>simulation tangent, but they're an idiot. within the context of video games, game:medium, simulation:genre, and that's how 99% of people use the term within the video game context. if you're at an aeronautics development centre and you're in their effing lab and you use the term simulation nobody there would respond, "woah buddy, none of this is a game, stop calling it that." games can encompass many genres, including the simulation genre, which KSP encompasses very, very greatly.
